Potholes in Houston Imagine coming to a new city for the first time and you are visiting a college that you are interested in. When you arrive in this city, everything is beautiful and up to your liking and standards, then you exit the highway to go on the city streets where your college is located and then BOOM! Your car has just hit a steep pothole in the middle of the street. Well this is what happened to me when I came to Houston to visit Houston Baptist University. I had never encountered so many potholes in my life until I began going to school at HBU! I have hit big, small, and everything in between types of potholes, and it has taken a toll on my car which is being repaired now due to these one to two foot deep devils. There are many factors that cause potholes to appear in the streets of Houston, and there are some major effects that they cause. According to Firestone Complete Auto Care, potholes can puncture tires, cause wear on shocks and struts, and also damage your engine. I have been a key witness to these effects since I have been in Houston, and it is beginning to get costly and upsetting. When I went to National Tire and Battery to get an estimate on how much it would cost to get my shocks, struts, and alignment fixed the mechanic said it would cost around 2,000 dollars to repair the damages. To be honest, I don’t have 2,000 dollars laying around to get my car fixed and because of this my mother had to drive all the way from Fort Worth, Texas to bring me their car while mines is being fixed. With doing this, my parents and I are in a financial bond right now and are struggling to get around comfortably and efficiently. Texas is home to about 27 million people and continues to grow. Texas’s major public policy problem right now would be in infrastructure and can be fixed by compromise. There are two types of infrastructure which are economic and social. Infrastructure means those basic facilities and services which and facilitate different economic activities and thereby help in economic development of education, health, transport, communication, banking & insurance, irrigation, power, and etc.... Also, several communities have mega-project needs and desires that push the political candidates and leaders to plan their developmental plans accordingly.1
Sipping on iced-cold sweet tea, I watch multiple waiters gather up and begin line dancing to loud country music that plays in the background. By the time im almost halfway through with my beverage and almost full due to the warm, freshly baked rolls, a smiling waitress brings my family our food. She kindly places down our meal, tells us to enjoy and leaves to let us chow down. Resting on the plate in front of me is a thick, juicy piece of rib eye steak thats paired with loaded mashed potatoes and freshly cooked vegetables. Texas Roadhouse has come to be one of my favorite restaurantst to dine at. They provide excellent food complimented by great service and the unique atmosphere of the restaurant is full of energy and always has some type of entertainment going on.

Because of these reasons, I believe Shullsburg should look into these issues.

The state of Texas is well known for its fast grown as a southern state, due to the idea of better opportunities of employment and for having a cheap lifestyle such as housing and food. But not everything is so good, the transportation in Texas is not very efficient. Even when the state has more than 501 highways, they seem to not be on the best conditions. The infrastructures' bad shapes not only affects the state, in general, but it also affects the residents.

On April 18, 2016 Yahoo reports Houston, Texas have flooding that forces residents to move out their homes and live in a nearby shelter. The flooding causes damage to the electricity lines, foreclosures of freeways, and forcing schools to close down because of the weather. One million students got the day off including workers. It’s deeply saddened that five victims were dead in this weather. There is over 450 water rescue and victims were transported to the mall to shelter away until the storm passes. It’s hard for people to drive in the freeway because the water can be up to 15 feet deep. The weather causes frustration toward the Houston resident.
My favorite sit-down restaurant is Texas Roadhouse. I don’t eat out much with my family except once a year for our anniversary when we go to Texas Roadhouse. Once we are seated it usually takes about a couple minutes for our waitress to introduce herself and take our drink order. They will usually give us a couple minutes to look over the menu and decide what we would like to order. Luckily I usually receive a coupon in the mail for a free appetizer and we usually will order one such as the cactus onion. Once we order the appetizer arrives first with our drinks or a little after. For our meal it usually takes about fifteen to twenty minutes to receive. Potholes damage vehicles and have a heavy weight on our wallets. Potholes cause flat tires, wheel alignment damage, impact and damage of the lower part of the vehicle, and major accidents. Weather damages potholes even more than they already are. Cracks allow water to get into the roadway base resulting in pavement breakup and potholes. You cannot detect damage only on the surface of the pavement because once the damage has reached the surface it is already too late to address the problem. Going to the root of the problem rather than just the top layer can make a big difference on our roads. There are many ways to take steps in improving my community but these are one of the major problems. These are very common problems that happen in every community, but they are getting out of hand and need to be solved as soon as possible.

Nothing that has occurred in the last several years in Texas has been quite as controversial as the new and increased usage of toll roads for new road construction. We have heard many statements that the toll roads are being built as a money-making system for the state (and the Department of Transportation). Statements have also been made to the effect that the state is "selling" the state, one length of roadway at a time; that the current roads could be maintained by the state, with current state funding levels. The main complaint is that the roads of Texas have always been free, and should continue to be free. But are these arguments correct?
