In April of 1999 the school of Columbine suffered from great tragedy. The school never thpught it would happen to them. On this time and date the school lost twelve students and one teacher. The event was unexpected many things would change. As time went on things changed such as security and bans on certain things. After seventeen years, Columbine has change schools all over the world. They have increased and created things to help students. For example, they have created metal detectors, increased security cameras, ID Badges,and more on campus police (Stokes). The two students responsible for this incident were Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold. These two senior students were responsible for killing twelve students and one teacher; they were also responsible for injuring an additional twenty one students on their rampage. A few other students were injured while trying to escape the school. Columbine is considered the fourth deadliest school massacre in history. On December 14, 2012 in Newtown, Connecticut, a twenty year old man, Adam Lanza, went into Sandy Hook Elementary School and opened fire in two rooms. He murdered twenty children and seven adults before turning the gun on himself (Fahrenthold). Once again, if one of these teachers would have carried a firearm, they could have possibly saved the lives of the first graders and the adults that were murdered.

It’s difficult to believe that two high school students could enter their school and begin firing on classmates, but that’s exactly what happened at Columbine. The country was riveted by the news that something so evil could happen by two of their own. Columbine High School, located in Littleton, Colorado, had an enrollment of 1,136 in April 1999. Eric Harris (seventeen) and Dylan Klebold (eighteen) entered Columbine High School on April 19, 1999, at approximately 11:19 AM and began shooting. Due to Klebold and Harris being bullied, the two boys planned an attack to shoot students and staff.
While both Michael Moore as well as John Stossel made compelling arguments, both were filled with flaws, however, I believe Michael Moore made the more compelling argument. Michael Moore in his film Bowling for Columbine was analyzing why the gun crime rate in the United States is much higher than other industrialized countries and he primarily focuses on Canada. Before establishing this relationship between the US and Canada he does this by addressing some common misconceptions that people believe lead to an increased amount of gun violence.
