Ancient Greece Development

Ancient Greece was one of the most advanced civilization in terms of social, economic, political, religious, philosophy, art and literature. But why were they so ahead compared to earlier civilizations such as Egypt, Mesopotamia, China, and the Indus Valley? Ancient Greece had the geography, the power along with influence, and the right society to develop into one of the most successful civilization ever. Their geography allowed for them to create multiple city-states and easy agriculture which also a large part of their economy. Greece's government and society allowed them to produce some of the most well known philosopher, mathematicians, and scientist. Greece's government and society was mainly focused on teaching and exploring many areas of knowledge, this lead to many great philosophers and mathematicians. The major reason for Greece's city-states, instead of being dominated by a king was its geography. Greece has a mountainous terrain, many valleys, and many islands that are offshore. They had democracy, monarchy, oligarchy, and aristocracy. This diversity was what allowed them to flourish and produce many successful people. The society of Greece was for the most part the same. The high class ruled with nobles, the middle class consisted of citizens and workers, and the lower class were women and slaves. They let the boys go to school and encouraged them to explore many areas of knowledge. Some of the most successful people were Aristotle, Socrates, Plato, Archimedes, Euclid, Pythagoras, and Alexander the Great. Greece's education system and society gave many Greeks opportunities to become very successful. These people influence were tremendous on today's society.
