Everyone needs energy to make progress and accomplish tasks every day. The amount of energy someone wake up with, can determine how well and productive the day will be. If there is a lack of energy present, there will be consequences like mood swings, drowsiness, laziness, depression, and the need to rest after every task completed. The main cause of low energy, can be due to a decrease of sleep; because, of either work being done late or pulling an “all-nighter” on a favorite hobby or being on movie marathons. Energy drinks are bad for everyone’s health because it increases the risk of cardiovascular disease, cause energy crashes, and insomnia.
There are three main reasons energy drinks have bad effects the body. One reason why energy drinks are bad is because can increase the risk to get heart problems. Caffeine is the most common ingredient found in a majority of energy drinks; symptoms of caffeine include increasing respiratory rate, heart rate, and blood pressure. These effects are present when consuming caffeine. If someone has heavy stress, anxiety, blood clot disorders, or heart problems severe symptoms can include cardiac arrest, stroke, heart attack, and death. In addition, Fiona Macrae presented a study done from university students about Red Bull’s sugar free energy drink and she revealed that it “ increased the ‘stickiness’ of the blood and raised the risk of life- threatening clots”(Par.2) . The Second reason is because it can cause energy crashes. The main opposing view of this argument is that everything someone consumes must have a balance or bad consequences may occur. For example, Water is vital to aid in survival not only because it keeps human hydrated and quenched and it provides the body with oxygen to help a human’s body function property. However, according to Runner’s World Complete Guide of Running you can get “Hyponatremia….caused by excessive body consumption. Hyponatremia can lead to brain seizure and death” (Pg.66).Even having too much of something important can be too harmful in the body, some scientists even think that inhaling too much oxygen can be bad and can cause oxygen toxicity. Most people that actually die from energy drinks is mainly because they consume large amounts of it because they get addicted to it, and as time passes, the body requires so much it is to the point where a person must consume fatal amounts for the body to satisfy the addiction.
