BIBL2003: Biblical Perspectives
How does the worldview of theism differ from a biblical worldview?
A theist believes in all-powerful Holy God(s). He believes that God(s) created the universe and also that we have a soul that lives eternally, either in heaven or hell. The big difference whether they believe Jesus is the Messiah. Judaism, Christianity and Islam are all considered monotheistic faiths, believing in one Supreme Being, but there are great differences. First, there’s the Trinity. Christians believe God exists in three distinct persons, the others only believe that God is one person. Christian’s believe the second person in the Trinity is Jesus is actually God sent to this earth or

Making sense of the world and why things happen are completely different for someone who does not belief in God.
What is meant when someone says that a biblical worldview has Christ at the center? Colossians 1:16 tells us that all of creation was made through Jesus and by Jesus.
“For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities--all things have been created through Him and for Him.”
Also that Jesus is the heir of all things.
“in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the world.” (Hebrews 1:2)
John also reveals Christ’s identity, “In the beginning the Word (logos) already existed. He was with God, and he was God…He created everything there is. Nothing exists that he didn’t make. Life itself was in him and this life gives light to everyone.” (John 1:1, 3-4)
All of creation is about Jesus. He is the reason all of creation exists. We were created by Him and for Him. Our purpose is to worship Him, become like Him, tell others about Him, and love and serve others like he would.
Summarize Jesus’ view on the following topics, with two Scriptures supporting each point:
• the authority of the Bible
1 Thess. 2:13 ‘And so we too constantly thank God that when you received God’s message that you heard from us, you accepted it not as a
God’s continuing work can be seen in the incarnation of Christ and his redemptive work. “Christ is the visible image of the invisible God…God created the things we can see and the things we cannot see…everything was created through him and for him. He existed before anything else and he holds all creation together” (Colossians 1:16, 17). Not only is Jesus the exact representation of God, but he is God himself who worked with the Father in creating the world – the sustainer of everything (Hebrews 1:3). “Because we are united with Christ, we have received an inheritance from God, for he chose us in advance, and he makes everything work out according to his plan” (Ephesians 1:11). This means that, “his will may be disobeyed, but his ultimate purpose cannot be frustrated, for he overrules the disobedience in his creatures in such a way that it sub serves his purpose” (Akin 2014, 235). Here we can clearly see God’s sovereignty and that we can rest in the truth that Jesus is Lord and God is in control. God’s involvement in our lives goes even deeper and shows us that he is personal and wants relationships with his creation. He not only spoke with Old Testament figures such as Adam, Abraham, Isaac and Moses, he held relationships with them through guidance and even discipline (Genesis 1:28, 3:8, 12:1, 26:5; Exodus 11, 19, 20, 33:11). Amos 4:13 says that God reveals His thoughts to man. We often
“In God we find our origin and our destiny. And as we realize we have in God an origin and a destiny, we can begin to understand who
Christians are appointed to interpret and understand cultures in order to minister and share the gospel, without discrimination based on gender, race, orientation, religion, or nationality. A Biblical worldview remembers that all people and all cultures were made by God and should be treated
In Chapters 1 and 2 of Genesis, we are told that God creates both the universe and everything that is in it. Thomas Aquinas, a leading scholar of the Middle Ages, argued that “Everything in the universe has a cause. Trace those causes back and there must have been a First Cause that triggered everything else. God is that First Cause.”
it. We have a purpose for our lives. By God creating man and woman in the Garden of Eden
The creation account is so significant to the Christian worldview because it shows you how we became about.
“We made it. We created it. We brought it forth from the night of the Ages. We alone. Our hands. Our mind. Ours alone and only.” Pg 59
Paul makes it clear that the world was created by God and that we are without excuse if we choose to deny that. Romans

As Christians, we understand that absolute truth comes only from the Scriptures and that God alone is truth. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God (John 1:1).
The word of God brought everything into being: heaven, earth, mountains, rivers, and every living thing. In the beginning, God called into existence the heaven and earth. Within six days and he shaped a world of order and beauty.
When you really break it down you can see that all things are truly created by God. Some may disagree and say that man has created everything from nails to computers, but the Lord
According to the text, creation and humanity are the work of a triune God. Creation includes the entire activity of God. In creation all three persons are at work simultaneously, including the Holy Spirit (Gen 1:2) and the Word (John 1:1) (Chapter 5).
In John 1:3-4, the beloved disciple points us toward four basic facts about Jesus Christ. First, is that He is the very creator of the universe. “3All things were made by him, and without him was not any thing made that was made” (John 1:3 KJV). Second the creation of man is the pinnacle of His creation. “4In him was life; and the life was the light of men” (John 1:4 KJV). Lastly, John discloses that it is only through Jesus Christ that man can gain eternal life, and only through Him is there light in the world.
