As I throw my old worn out football that my mom gave me when I was little against the sad grey color that was my wall I wonder what it would be like to feel the pressure of the game clock ticking and the offense driving. What it would feel like to be in a locker room getting a pep talk with the coach before a game. What it would be like to have all the pressure on you to execute the play. I wonder what it would be like to play football.
Laying on my newly washed green sheets bored having done every last bit of homework that I would have for the rest of the week. “Football will affect your school work and your chances of ever making it into any good school,” my dad had said right after my mother had died. She was beautiful, compassionate, and loving. When she died it just seemed like the world lost its beauty and color. After that he wouldn’t let me play anymore. She was my only freedom, my only fun, the only thing that gave me happiness in the sad sorrows of my life. All I hear is “Work, work, work,” that 's all he ever has ever said.
With nothing else to do I decide to go make an argument. I know not the best choice, but the only chance I have I said to myself as I walked downstairs to find my dad. I decide to approach my dad in a nice manner. “Dad!”
“Yes,” he said reading a book in his favorite recliner.
“Is there any chance possible that I could play football this year?” I asked as he took his old reading glasses and put them on the lamp stand next to mom’s.
“You
Football, one of the biggest sports in the United States, makes a lot of money. Everyone in America watches football no matter if they are young, old, male or female. It brings people together and might even tear relationships apart. A lot of people watch football, but not everyone understands the rules. I am here to help people understand the game of football.
Football remains the most popular sport in America and the ninth most popular sport in the world for a reason. Since its creation in 1869, football has played a fundamental part of American society. Every Sunday, my family along with millions of other Americans turn the television to CBS, NBC or FOX to watch their favorite football team go to battle. My family and I bleed burgundy and gold and root for the home team the Washington Redskins. Americans including myself display great intensity and passion for the game of football and the result of the game often changes my attitude for the better or worse. Watching the game on television may come as exhilarating and entertaining, but playing the game creates the best times. Overall football has made a severe impact on many people’s lives. Football teaches unique lessons in a hands on manner which helps athletes like myself sustain a much more adventurous life. Football has made an immeasurably positive influence upon my life, but the sport has its dangers. Football changes lives.
Football isn’t just about going on the field and playing 4 quarters against another team every week. It’s not just those Friday nights going to watch your high school team play. Football is a brotherhood, it’s your second family. It’s making memories that you will have with you for the rest of your life. It’s the hours of preparation, sweat, tears, blood, bumps and bruises and going back out everyday just to give it your all. Football isn’t just a game that i’ve played it’s something that has shaped me into the person I am today.
IT’s fourth and goal it is Super Bowl 49 they were on our own goal line the knees of the offensive line, and offensive line were shaking,as I feel the sweat running down my hands warming up .The ball is snapped I see their best receiver anquan boldin sprint to the middle of the end zone I sprint to him leaving an man wide open. Russell Wilson reaches back and fires I reach out and snatch it almost dropping it I fall to the ground rolling in excitement my team picking me up.As you can see I am talking about a sport hear and this particular sport is football the sport that fills the night air with emotions on Sunday,Monday, and Thursday dreams our bound to happen.People today that want to be in the spot they were in is out there everyday ,staying after practice knowing that it is almost impossible to make it,knowing that it is a brutal game deciding their career, and not being liked by everyone.
For many people, football is not just a sport. The book Friday Night Lights by H.G. Bissinger is set in Odessa, Texas where thousands of people would line up to buy tickets for the Permian Panthers’ football games, not because they enjoyed watching football, but because of the hope and inspiration that resonated throughout the field during a game. Even the players were able to recognize this feeling of invincibility because “whatever they fantasized about, it all seemed possible that day” when they were playing football (24). Football becomes an outlet for the fans that draws the attention away from the complexities of their lives and directs it towards a game that promotes innocence and hope for them. Football transforms Odessa from a bleak, hopeless town into a place where anyone’s wildest
“It is to my mind simple nonsense, a mere confession of weakness” A quote said by one of our very own football loving presidents, Teddy Roosevelt. People believe football is too dangerous and shouldn’t be played. Around the U.S. critics over exaggerate consequences in football. Even though football is criticized, football is not too dangerous to play.
Society has a positive impact on individuals because people help and take care of each other. Three examples are: a video titled “On the Road: Middle School Football”, a poem named “The World Is Not a Pleasant Place to be”, and a book titled The Outsiders. Each of these stories shows how having friends makes our life better. Friends help us to not feel alone and to get us through tough times.
Ever since I was a little kid, I have admired the game of football. When I was a couple of years old, I was photographed in the Bulldog Bark kicking a field goal because they were doing an article on my dad about football. I had the same dream that every other little kid had. I wanted to be an NFL football player. So like usual, my parents told me to work hard and it might pay off. By the time I was in middle school, I knew I wasn’t going to be a professional football player, but that didn’t stop me from working. Growing up, I was always the quarterback or fullback, so when my dad told me my junior year that he wanted me to try the line, I was a little shocked. I had come in every single day of weights since I was in 7th grade, and he was moving me to the line. At first I was hurt, but it was a great decision because I loved the time I spent with the other lineman.
As everyone ran to the field eager and excited to begin their freshman year of football I awkwardly stumbled along, following them as the field grew closer. I was scared, no; I was absolutely petrified. Never before had I played a real sport. Sure I played a few seasons on the city’s little league baseball team, but in my young mind, that was surely nothing compared to this. Tackle football: I had seen a few minutes of it when my dad and his friends watched, or when my friends played Madden 05’. Although actually playing was another story altogether; I was sure that my out of shape, chubby, fourteen year old body would collapse, and I would die.
Sub-point 1: Football has been a sport I began playing at a very young age, at 10 years old to be exact. It all began when my brother wanted to play a game with his older friends but were short of players, so he invited some of the younger neighborhood kids, myself included, to play. Ever since that one game, we had begun to organize these football games. Just to be clear, these games would take place in our alleyway as it was the closest empty open area. Our games would start roughly around 4pm considering school didn’t end until 2pm and yet still had homework to complete. Either way, we’d play until dark when we were no longer able to see the
Imagine being member of a football team on the field while the crowd is cheering for their favorite team. You are probably wondering, “WOW, I never thought that I will be part of this team.” Football is not for everyone and being part of a football team does not mean that you are going to be in the spotlight. A person can learn much from playing football. Football teaches strength, discipline, and how to be a team player.
So my life started the same as any other inflated dead cow in Ada, Ohio. I was made in the second week of January which meant I was going to be used for one of the upcoming championship games. Before I was shipped out I was dreaming of being thrown by Tom Brady and Andrew Luck or being carried by Beast Mode and Eddie Lacy. After my fellow footballs and I heard we were going to Foxborough I knew we would play a role in a historic game that could be Brady’s last chance for four rings or Luck’s first of many super bowl appearances.
grader when football caught my interest, football was always a huge part of my family. Football impacted both my Mom and Dad’s side of the family, everyone was connected to football, whether they played the sport, cheered , or was their soon to be husband’s biggest fan. I come from a small city in the Rio Grande Valley. My city isn’t the largest there is but, this city made me the person I am today and I’ve made so many memories here so this city means the world to me. Growing up here, sports was a major part of my life. A majority of kids always slept in most weekends, but I always had practice or games on Saturdays. Sundays I was up early to attend church with my family.
Everyone runs in order to join the linemen as we get ready to go on the field and to get our pregame talk and speech. Everyone starts to put their shoulder pads on and take the helmets of the hooks from their lockers. The locker room is still as the coaches’ talk about the game and strategize in coaches’ office, the only thing moving or making sound is the sound system as it plays some pump up music. Everyone is getting pumped and in the mood, with feet tapping and legs moving up and down. The coach walks out the coaches’ office with the other coaches flowing out behind him. Everyone’s head rises up, and eyes lock on to coach as he starts to
For as long as I can remember football has been a part of my life in some way, shape, or form. When I was first born my grandfather said that I was solid and built to play football. I used to throw the football with my mother when I was a toddler and she always told me that when I tried to tackle her I hit really hard. My first organized football experience was when I was five. I had just moved to Manassas, VA from Washington, D.C. in 1994. It was around fall and that was right at the beginning of football season in the area. I remember telling my mother that I wanted to play, so she looked for a local organization for children. She came across the Greater Manassas Football League (GMFL) and that is where I began to play the game I
