Growing up in a generation that is primarily known for its technological advancements, I was always amazed to see how technology gradually evolved; filling the gaps in all dimensions of human’s life. This curiosity and interest in technology ignited my pursuit of the bachelor’s degree in engineering, where I was exposed to various segments of engineering technology and management fundamentals. I enjoyed organizing National level technical symposiums, cultural fests and leading my university table tennis team at various inter-college sport meets.
Soon after graduation, I joined the ‘Enterprise Information Management – Healthcare’ business unit of Cognizant. Starting as a programmer analyst, I developed programs for complex claims processing and performed system analysis for large healthcare systems. Soon I transitioned to a business analyst’s role for the operations and data analytics team. Within a year, I led and managed business operations team of five to support 30 terabyte Teradata Healthcare Data Warehouse. Also, I led various operational initiatives, which reduced manual intervention and decreased the quality assurance effort by 73%.
My success with the business operations earned me the responsibility to handle business development for new emerging healthcare projects. Besides efficiently implementing various development projects, I spearheaded concept to implementation of various initiatives, which increased the revenue by 23% for our clients in one year. This also
Technology is defined as machinery and equipment developed from the application of scientific knowledge. Its original use was meant solely for the service of humans, however overtime it has evolved into something much different. What was originally meant to be an assisting piece of machinery has changed almost every aspect of our culture. The way we think, communicate, lie, and even love has been impacted by the use of technology, and all of this is has made for interesting pieces of literature. In pieces such as Her and I, Robot, we see the evolution of robots and artificial intelligence into a more empathetic and humanlike creatures. This gradual change in our views of robots overtime speaks volumes to the evolution of technology. Technology in literature has become a reflection of human beings themselves, mirroring the very qualities of ourselves that make us human. By looking at the personality that technology takes on in literature, we can greater understand the aspects of ourselves that truly make us human.
Our organization strives to create a culture that will increase performance. Technology has evolved rapidly in previous years, making the completion of task more convenient. In order to effectively highlight convenience to consumers, data security must come into consideration. The transition from swipe/PIN cards to contactless has introduced yet also removed security issues.
This day and age technology can be seen everywhere. From home to work and even schools more and more people are beginning to use technology. There are more people that are buying smartphones, tablets and laptops which allow them to day many things throughout their day. Tablets especially have been becoming more and more popular since they are very compact, lightweight, and have many different uses. We are able to see how much technology has impacted everyone 's day to day life. There are elders, parents, teens, and even toddlers that are using technology everyday and each one for a different reason. With the number of technology users increasing more schools are starting to integrate tablets into their classrooms. There are many people that think that having technology in schools won 't be very useful in helping students learn, however there are many people that do think that using technology and tablets will be beneficial in helping students learn. Textbooks have been used in schools for a very long time now and are still being used to this day. Many people against tablets think that they will be a distraction to the students learning or even too expensive for the schools to be able to transition over to tablets. Technology will most likely be entering the classroom since more people are using it these days. Having tablets in the classroom will allow students the chance to get used to using tablets and they will be able to use them in a way that will help enrich their
When we look at our history, power has always been determined by those who are able to take it through physical strength. However, technology has changed that idea. It is those that have knowledge of technology that are now able to gain power. There has been a lot of debate about what technology is really doing to our society, but with power there is always responsibility. Technology is not to blame, but the ethics of those with power.
When you think of road trips, you think of driving down 95, blasting music, laughing constantly and making memories that you will hold on to for the rest of your life. Ten years ago, this may have been the case, but not today. Now, road trips are defined by countless portable chargers, downloaded movies and computer games; no one says a word. No matter the age, everyone is on their phones. Previously, the car was a place bond, gossip, and connect; now it is place where we watch movies and magically appear in new places as the credits begin to roll. Cars have turned into a place where conversation perishes and is only revived when the battery on our devices runs out. Exemplifying the shift in our society; they represent the transition from
With time the mind has expanded and has created things our society could have never imagined were possible. In the last century technology has flourished due the changes in the way the mind works. These new technological inventions have proved to be very helpful in day-to-day basis. Children utilize computers, cell phones, and television to their learning advantage. The way children are developing is very different than children of past generations because of the new technology they are growing up with (Taylor). As the use of technology increases amongst all age groups, there is evidence that shows it impacts children intellectually and socially.
“Over the last ten years, technology has transformed almost every aspect of our lives before we’ve had time to stop and question it. In every home on every desk; in every palm - a plasma screen a monitor: a smartphone- a black mirror of our 21st century existence. Our grip on reality is shifting- we worship at the altars of Google and Apple. Facebook algorithms know us more intimately than our parents. We have access to all the information in the world but no brain space left to absorb anything longer than 140- character tweets. Black mirror taps into the collective eases about our modern world.” Black Mirror TV Show, Charlie Brooker, Channel 4. Within this quote, Brooker says that people have sold their own ability to think independently just for all the information in the world at their fingertips. Technology has only deepened its grasp on consumers by becoming a necessity for conformity. The Visits from Inside the Black Mirror will interpret the consumers desire for social acceptance.
Dear mom and dad, I know you don’t believe I have a need for a smartphone, but lately it has become more apparent that I do. With the increased use of technology in everyday life as well as in school, I am being left behind and it’s putting me at a major advantage when compared to my peers. Please put yourself in my shoes and realize that with the world depending more and more on phones, my immediate future may be compromised if I don’t have a cellphone. Aaron Smith says “. . . nearly two-thirds of Americans own a smartphone…” (Smith 1). This just shows how today, smartphones are basic and widespread in our society.
Technology, as we know, has completely changed the way every American goes about their daily activities. Today we are able to communicate globally with anyone from any part of the world within seconds, making business and our social lives a million times easier. Look to your left and you will find your cell phone buzzing with missed calls, texts, and social notifications. Look to your right and you will see your emails filling up with the newest offers on fashion or your boss giving you this weeks new assignments. Information now travels faster than ever and new medicines or surgical procedures have saved millions of lives. But as we continue to travel down our technological path, we will see a change in the world. Our elders today constantly complain about the growth of technology and are often confused on how the rest of the world works. This is because with every new year technology seems to rise with new programs or new inventions to enhance our everyday lives in efforts to make them “simpler” and “better.” Our world is changing or upgrading at a rapid pace.
It is amazing how everyone’s life is changing by using technology. Technology by definition means, the branch of knowledge that deals with the creation and use of technical means and their interrelation with life, society, and the environment, drawing upon such subjects as industrial arts, engineering, applied science, and pure science.(web). Now a days people use different kinds of technology that brings it to our life like cellphone, iPod, laptop, mp3, and all of the devices create a convenient and comfort for every individual lives. As Technology is updating every day, every second it is effecting lives of people live and changing the pace of everything that relater to humans routines live. There is an expression saying “man born not of his own time.” The basics of the quotes meaning is a persons mannerisms, thoughts, ideas, and dreams are based out of a different time frame then the individual is presently living in. Technology a defining feature to our time line in human evolution. Each major technological advancements introduces new opportunities, as well as obstacles, that aide mankind in advancing to the next step in their evolutionary chain. The 21st centuries latest technology is the 3D printer, a device capable of re-defining our lives to be more convenient by printing all of our needs. It is claimed 3D printing will be an absolute positive technology to benefit mankind, but we will soon encounter situations where uncontrolled, illegal substances will be produced because anyone can attain a printer and its materials, the simplicity of learning the machine makes it convenient for everyone, and there are no restrictions on content being printed.
Rapid advances in technology over the past several years have made significant changes in our lives. Microprocessors have shrunk considerably while becoming even more powerful that allowed them to meet our growing technological demands. This improvements have led to the emergence of such term as ‘Internet of Everything’, when more and more things, soon to include our clothes, are being embedded with different types of processors, electronics and sensors. While this growing network of everyday objects, all connected to the Internet, has proved to be beneficial in many ways, it has also increased a threat that these things might be breached by individuals so called ‘Black hat hackers’, who violate computer security to steal personal information or even completely damage the computer system (Moore, 2014). Malicious acts committed by this group of hackers caused the increase in the number of cyber-security researchers so called ‘White hat hackers’. These individuals also try to break into the computer systems but with the purpose to find its possible vulnerabilities and then provide a software to fix system’s weaknesses and therefore make it impossible for ‘Black hat hackers’ to illegally penetrate into it (Moore, 2014). The main difference between these two types of hackers is the permission to breach into different computer systems and if the hacker possesses the appropriate authorization then his actions are within the law (Long, 2012). This essay will provide a brief history
The world has come very far with respect to technology. In reality, technology, social media, and smart phones have breached the mainstay in our everyday lives in a short period of time. Gone are the days of cassette and VHS tapes. Gone are the days of typewriters and cursive handwriting. Those outdated technologies have been replaced with tablets, smartphones, and social media websites like Facebook. The same types of technologies have found its way into healthcare. Lambert, K., Barry, P., & Stokes, G. (2012) state that, “Social media has infiltrated all of our lives both personally and professionally.” For better or for worse these technologies have blended into our everyday lives with no end in sight therefore, knowing they aren’t going away and how we use them will say as much about ourselves and as society as a whole.
In our ever-evolving world, we have seen the emergence of technology in all aspects of our lives. People use technology as a form of entertainment, as a tool to help them communicate with other people, to help them monitor their health and as a tool to help them enhance their work. When out in public, it is common to see numerous people using some form of technologic device. While at the mall, it is common to see people talking on their phones, texting people or posting on their social network sites. At a doctor’s offices you will likely see people playing on their tablets or using their cell phones, and it is even common practice to see these devices being used by people who are working out at the gym. Although technology has
