Snap! The branch broke under my foot as my Dad and I were walking on the bank of the stream. It was a early summer morning and me and my Dad were checking out a stream to see if any fish lie in its depths. We did not bring our fishing poles because we did not know the stream existed. Luckily we had some kite string and some sharp size 4 silver hooks. So I decided to grab a long sturdy stick and tie the kite string to it to create a makeshift fishing pole. I tied the hook to the kite string and put a weight on it. But then we realized we had no bait! So my Dad ventured off into the dense forest in search of some bait that the fish might find tasty. He flipped over rocks, rolled over rocks and peeled back moss. He found five slimey worms, three squirmy salamanders, four sticky snails and two yellow grubs. Well now all that was left was to find out if my invention of a fishing pole worked and if there were any fish in the stream. I casted my line out into the middle of the stream while my Dad was checking out another area of the winding stream. Bam! All of a sudden a huge fish took my line and started furiously swimming down stream. I was so caught off guard when the fish jerked me forward I almost fell in the water. While we were sitting we started noticing all the fascinating creatures and wildlife around us in the woods. We saw multiple white tailed deer, a raccoon, three red bellied woodpeckers and even a brown skinny otter. Everything around me was mesmerizing. To just stand still and look around you and see the deer eating, the fish jumping in the stream or the sound of the woodpeckers ferociously pecking away at the pine trees. The noises, smells, the sight that fill your eyes with color and life just lift your spirit when you stop to look what's around you. Nature can be so inspiring and beautiful if you take the time to just look
