Did you know Ecuador is one of the most megadiverse countries in the world and also has the most biodiversity per square mile kilometre of any other nation? Ecuador is named after the equator, and the only country in the world named after a geographical feature. Three things that make Ecuador a interesting place are its climate, sports, and attractions. Ecuador has a very beautiful temperature and has very warm, and sunny weather most of the time. Ecuador usually is around 77 degrees. Coastal areas are affected by ocean currents and between January and April are hot and rainy. The Galapagos Islands have dry d warm pleasant weather. Ecuador has many sports that they play across Ecuador, similar to the ones they have in America. Some
All in all Uruguay has many great features. Some features are its national government, humid climate, stunning landscape, great economy, unique culture and fun facts. Even though this country is mostly grassland, at least they have a good economy. Well, if there are 3 cows for every one person you would have a pretty good
Culture makes up who we are, what we believe and how we behave. About four years ago, I had the opportunity to live in Ecuador. I found the relationships and communication perspective to be very interesting and after spending two years there, I was able to notice several distinct intercultural differences between the American and Ecuadorian cultures. Since my analysis of Ecuador is only based off of my personal experience, I’ve also invited my friend Luis Salas from Quito, Ecuador who is currently attending Brigham Young University to give his own insights. By gaining his perspective of what it’s like to live in America as an
extreme. The warmest month, January, averages 63.7 degrees Ferenheit. The coolest months, June and July, Average 53.3 F.
AClimate Colombia lies almost entirely in the Torrid Zone, a meteorological term denoting the areas of the earth's surface between the tropic of Cancer and the tropic of Capricorn. The climate, however, varies with the elevation. The low regions along the coast and the deep Patía and Magdalena river valleys are torrid, with average annual temperatures of 24° to 27° C (75° to 80° F). From about 500 to 2300 m (about 1500 to 7500 ft) the climate is subtropical, and from about 2300 to 3000 m (about 7500 to 10,000 ft) it is temperate. Above about 3000 m (about 10,000 ft) is the cold-climate zone, where temperatures range from -18° to 13° C (0° to 55° F). The average January and July temperatures in Bogotá are the same: 14° C (57° F). The averages for the same months in Barranquilla are 27° C (80° F) and 28° C (82° F).
Ecuador is one of the smallest countries of South America. It lies on the West Coast of the continent between Colombia and Peru. The equator crosses Ecuador and gives the country its name. Ecuador is the Spanish word for equator.
To start off, one of the dominant troubles people go through in Ecuador would be the social class. Just like in reality, appearances can tell people what social class a person is involved with without actually telling them (Wright). Just like in The Queen of Water, Virginia is mistaken as a mestizo teenager when she is actually an indigenous girl. If she had said what class she was in, she may have been treated differently. However, some mestizo Ecuadorians respect the indigenous people for who they are (Resau and Farinango ). Virginia, the main girl in the book, made many friends at her school and when they found out she was indigenous, they never stopped treating her differently; they treated her with the same respect as they had when they first met her. Also, the Indians and women in
Honduras is located in Central America between Nicaragua, Guatemala, and El Salvador. On Honduras’s northern border is the Caribbean Sea and on the southern border is the Gulf of Fonsecena which connects to the Pacific Ocean. Honduras has about 112,000 square miles of land (This is about 82 percent the size of Arkansas). The terrain of Honduras is mostly mountainous with some lowland areas near the coasts. Almost half of this terrain is forest while about 30 percent of it is used for agricultural. Some of their natural resources include wood, copper, coal, gold, and fish. Natural hazards include common but mild earthquakes and large susceptibility to flooding from its Northern coast.
El Salvador has a special place in the heart of countless salvadoran including mine mainly because it was the country who greeted us with joy when we came to this world. Although, now plenty of salvadoran have been obligated to immigrate to other countries in the world because our
Violence in modern Colombia takes place in many forms. The three major categories are crime, guerrilla activities, and attacks committed by drug traffickers. Violence has become so widespread and common in Colombia that many people have now become numb to it. The Colombian economy has also benefited from the illicit drug trade; however violent it may be. During the 1970s, Colombia became well known, as one of the world’s most important drug processing, production, and distribution centers for marijuana and cocaine.
History of the region from the pre-Columbian period and including colonization by the Spanish and Portuguese beginning in the 15th century, the 19th-century wars of independence, and developments to the end of World War II.Latin America is generally understood to consist of the entire continent of South America in addition to Mexico, Central America, and the islands of the Caribbean whose inhabitants speak a Romance language. The peoples of this large area shared the experience of conquest and colonization by the Spaniards and Portuguese from the late 15th through the 18th centuries as well as movements of independence from Spain and Portugal in the early 19th century. Even since independence, many of the various
As the music industry has become commercialized on an international level, people have argued that music culture has become somewhat homogeneous worldwide. America is often seen as the center of this commercial expansion; this can be seen in the case of music, as American artists have recently been achieving mainstream success with international audiences. Artists from the US are now able to tour internationally, and are well-received across the world. This paper analyzes the effects of this commercialization in Latin America, specifically in the context of hip-hop. Latin America has traditionally had its own unique musical style, but as a region it has not been immune to the influence and spread of commercialized hip-hop. The extent to which this movement has influenced Latin America is not always
On February 17, 2012, Mr. Thomas and his crew were fishing off-shore in proximity to Ecuador’s coastal waters for tuna until the Ecuadorian Navy arrived, pursued, and opened fire at American fishing boats. What seemed like a peaceful day at work ended up into hostile confrontation between Ecuadorian authorities and the Americans, leading to unnecessary losses and damages. It is important that the court examines this case based on the precedent it might set for future situations. Although team Ecuador may argue that their actions are justifiable, the U.S. believes their actions were illegal on the basis of international law. There are three main issues that we consider Ecuador to be in violation of: 1) the issue of maritime boundaries including
Today Ecuador is known to have a population of around eleven million. Most of the population consist of elders, but there are many children as well. Ecuador is located between Peru and Colombia. But besides the fact, Ecuador has many historical landmarks as well as natural landmarks. Ecuador has many volcanoes, but there is one volcano who has two high peaks which are visible from the city of Quito and which are popular for hiking. The Pinchincha is an active stratovolcano, whose capital Quito wraps around its eastern slopes. The highest peaks of the volcano are Wawa Pichincha and Ruku Pinchicha. The active caldera is in Wawa Pichincha which is on the western side. In 1999 the volcano erupted and covered the city with inches of ash. There has been two other major eruptions the first one was in 1553 and the second one was in 1660.
The El Nino Southern Oscillation, or simply El Nino, has hit Ecuador with devastating effect a number of times over the past t we nty-five years. The 1982-83 El Nino cause over $650 million in damage, and was the cause of 600 deaths, wreaking havoc on Ecuador ’s agricultural industries especially. Most recently, the El Nino of 1997-98 battered Ecuador, causing $2.65 billion worth of damage. This El Nino is considered to be one of the biggest ever, and the floods and torrential downpours that struck Ecuador again crippled the agricultural industries, including the important banana industry. In addition, parts of the SOTE pipeline we re damaged, and along with a global depression in oil prices Ecuador ’s economy was thrown into a tailspin.
