For this week’s discussion board question I decide to go out and try to find details about a person and see if I could get them to let me use their phone. I thought that this would be a challenge and people would be very unlikely to trust a stranger who they didn’t know and expected to be rejected multiple times. I also thought this would be difficult for me because I am a very introverted person and don’t feel comfortable talking to people if I don’t know them. Amazingly, it was very easy to do and on my first try I was able to get someone to let me use their phone. I happened to be at Walmart at the time and I was in Walmart in the sporting good department checking to see if they had .22 ammunition in stock. There happened to be another person there who was a caucasian man who appeared to be in his late 50’s wearing a plaid button up shirt and shorts. I tried to spark up a conversation on how hard it is to find .22 ammunition in stock now days and other small talk related to the subject as we both were leaving the building. When we got to the parking lot I looked at my phone, which I pretended was dead, and asked him if I could barrow his phone to make a call to let my father know they didn’t have the ammunition in stock and he agreed to do so. I thanked him for allowing me to …show more content…
I truly thought this would be really difficult in this day and ages because all of the information on the need to be secure and the lack of trust most people have in other people. I think part of my success was how friendly I appeared to be, being dressed in professional office work attire at the time, and perhaps the age of the person who I targeted led him to be more trusting of me. The two hardest parts for me was hiding what my conversation was and getting over my introverted ness and sparking up a
Amanda and Erica’s grades may differ for a variety of reasons. Studies show that the more academic activities a parent is involved in is significantly associated with their child having higher literacy achievement, lower rates of grade retention, and fewer years needing special education (Miedel & Reynolds, 2000). Amanda’s father’s income, education, and occupation also all correlate with her literacy abilities (Buckingham, Wheldall, & Beaman-Wheldall, 2013). Parental education has the strongest influence of the three (Buckingham, Wheldall, & Beaman-Wheldall, 2013).
This is my fourth semester attending Lamar Institute of Technology. The thing that seemed to be most difficult was that most students are not offered outside opinions on teachers and the classes offered. It seems like a challenge due to the fact that as students he or she does not know what he or she are getting into.
I am originally from California I spent more than 15 years of my life there and I still have family living that lives there now. I have lived in a few states Montana, Texas, Utah and Washington of course.
I selected the Louisville Cardinals’ to discus this week for my week two assignment. This was Louisville’s fourth conference change since 1996.Louisville join the Conference U.S.A that year and was not welcome by its other conference colleagues, because the men’s basketball team was on probation by the NCAA. The Louisville program was also apart of a 60 minutes investigation, their home football games were being played in a minor league baseball stadium and their school has some serious Title IX issues according to Murphy, B (2014, July 1). Despite all of the surrounding issues Louisville went on to become successful on the field and basketball courts, they join the Big East conference and made their brand very attractive.
Have you ever felt unappreciated in a job? Do you feel on edge that at any given moment you could be replaced? Or has someone you are supposed to trust to put down your efforts? An effective leader should make sure you aren't left wondering these questions. I have worked in the special education department at a high school for three years under the guidance of the principal. During that time I have not been told that I am doing a good job or given any recognition. I am not alone because the majority of the department share the same feelings. Instead of mentoring us into the type of employees he desires he makes these negative comments. With no justification, since he rarely takes time to visit our classrooms, he has called us a “toxic department” and has repeatedly said “we should just start with a clean slate”. In the beginning I tried to approach him however, he
While looking over my answers on the “Multiple Intelligence Scoring Sheet”, I’ve noticed that I only have “strong abilities” in the musical category. However, I also have abilities in interpersonal and intrapersonal as well. I honestly do agree on with Howard Gardner’s Theory and his descriptions because each category is written with logical meanings. After reviewing the types of roles that I was put in; the three listed are actually perfect for me, and the others don’t quite correlate with me personally, except spatial-visual.
Right from the beginning of this course I had a terrible feeling that I was not going to learn what I had to or finish it with a good grade. It all began when I found out that I had to be in contact with an administrator in order to obtain the data needed to complete the final project. Dirksen (2014) wrote that one should never give up, even when everything seems against you. That is exactly what I did. I tried and fortunately, I was able to find help, gain a lot of knowledge from the material I had to read, good advices from my assistant principal, and learn how analyze school data in detail and put together a Data-Driven Decision Making Team together (3D). Also, and probably the most important, I learned to think more like a leader than a teacher.
This week assignment was very interesting and fascinating. We are all born with gifts and talents. Having God-given gifts inside us that has the power to give life, direction, and purpose. First Peter 4:10 says” As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of Gods varied grace”. God works in different ways in each of us.
I requested a check on 01/19/16. Sangeeta said she did not received a check payment for this invoice and did not make a payment to this account. I called AmeriPower and I was told this account has been passed due on three different occasion. I resend this check request to Sangeeta for payment again today.
After winning junior tournaments I wanted more and therefore; I challenged myself to the next level. I remember having a chat with my dad, he was giving me a father to son chat about life and what is best to focus on whether academic studies or sport? As he was concerned because I was spending more time playing sports than doing school work. He said life of sport is hard but, I reassured him that everything will be fine. I knew I had a mind set and ability not to give up because my strength lies on mental toughness and my settling for second best wasn’t /is not satisfying outcome.
Cathy, i know very little about last year's doings of the board but I can answer some questions. The way we do minutes now is I make draft and send to members. I think all homeowners should be able to see the DRAFT and submit changes, especially if information personally involves a homeowner. Then if changes I do that. We ok minutes by email. Then send out when in agreement. That way minutes are not a month behind. If you include a message along with the DRAFT that any changes need to be submitted at least a week prior to the next Board Meeting, the Minutes wouldn't be a month behind. Just include a sentence in the current month's Minutes that last month's Minutes were corrected as noted; and then remove the DRAFT watermark before saving it.
In conclusion, the two speakers have common feelings and morals that have changed as they have aged. The granddaughter who once was her grandmother's secured possession and learned about the faith that her grandmother had taught her changed when she got into the real world. Likewise, the son who never realized that his father worked hard to provide his family comfort changed him as he became more mature, this leads him to realize that he made a mistake by not thanking his father. Overall both of the speaker's morals and feelings change as they grow up and realize the change they are going through and the regrets both have from not being able to tell their loved ones of what they have learned.
Sonja is seriously injured in an auto accident. After six months, she is still unable to return to work. She has no income from her job, and the insurance premium payments are financially burdensome. In this case Sonja has an ordinary life insurance with the waiver-of-premium attached so after six months all premiums would be waived if Sonja is totally disabled. Under some policies, a retroactive refund of the premium paid during the first six months would be paid. (Rejda, George, McNamara, 2014).
First, get used to approaching random people. The easiest way to do this is to get a job where you have to approach people.
It was the third time we made the trip when Matt and I were sitting in the car before we went in and I saw my friend Quintin. Quintin was my age, but for being only a sophomore in high school he was very educated on the topic of racism from his parents. Yes, Quintin was black. So, I hurried out of my car and ran over to him before we went in and started to talk to him. This time we all walked in together and when we had gone through the door I did what I always had done, I turned to the security guard and jokingly said “Hey, long time no see.”. Although I was giggling he was not amused, as a matter of fact something seemed different about him; he was giving me an extremely dirty look and I could not figure out what the problem was. As we were going throughout the store we realized Quintin was there for the same reason, so we were all looking for a quick snack. We went up and down a few aisles and could not find anything, but that’s when I noticed it. The security
