I choose the song “Humble and Kind” performed by Tim McGraw in 2015. You can find the song here on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=awzNHuGqoMc. “Humble and Kind” was written by Lori McKenna in May of 2014 (by herself) who is Nashville’s top songwriter. She wrote the song to reflect the life and way she wants her kids to grow up. Tim McGraw was asked to perform the song for her, were he gladly accepted. Lori herself later performed the song next few years. I would believe that this song would fall other the pop music form. As for country music is not really “country” anymore; it is a mixture of almost every form of popular music in America. The song is precisely what it sounds like: A humble, kind, acoustic-driven tune that softly
The song "Fast" by Luke Bryan was released in 2015 on the album Kill the Lights. This song is important to me because it was the first song that made me like country, made me realize things, and to enjoy life.
I chose “Chicken Fried” by Zac Brown Band because of the great lyrics and the great country feel this song has. The lyrics talk about fried chicken and the great country of United States of America. It has a great country feel that you can be in the car with your friends, the windows rolled down, sun out, and sing every word to on a hot summer day.
One of my favorite songs is Live Like You Were Dying by Tim McGraw, and it is a song about living life to the fullest. People should always live life to the fullest because you never know when it will be taken away from you. By singing “When it sank in That this might really be the real end How's it hit you When you get that kind of news? Man, what'd you do?” (McGraw), Tim McGraw is showing his listeners that sometimes life is taken away from you earlier than expected. Later in the song McGraw says “I was finally the husband That most of the time I wasn't And I became a friend a friend would like to have” (McGraw). These three lines show the listeners that in a person’s last days, they realize what is most important in life. McGraw’s lyrics
The song “My Best Friend” is sung by an American Country singer named Tim McGraw. This song is about a guy who had a miserable life until he found the right girl. He describes the girl as a lover, life partner, and best friend. Tim McGraw’s song represents what Yale psychologist Robert Sternberg would call consummate love. To him, “Consummate, or complete love, results when all three components are present” (Sternberg 134).
I chose “Humble and Kind,” by Tim McGraw as my theme song. “Humble and Kind” is a very good song that has very unique lyrics. The song gives advice on how to live. There are many manners in this song that are very important. The song is a parent telling their child how they should live life. It seems that the artist wrote the song on how he wishes he would have acted when he was younger. One of the main messages of this song are that everyone has something in their lives, but you still need to be nice. Some of the lyrics on the song are about the 10 Commandments. Even though we grow up, we still need to remember our manners and how to live life. “Don’t hold a grudge or a chip and here’s why Bitterness keeps you from flying.” This is an example
Country music is one of the most popular genres of music throughout America. There are many influential figures that have changed the way country music sounds, and how people interpret it. Two important people who have made a huge impact on country music overtime are Johnny Cash and Luke Bryan. From their early life, their career, and how society views them, they have opened the minds of people and country musicians all over the country. Johnny Cash’s songs help people to experience his life growing up through the Great Depression and how people lived back then. Through Luke Bryan’s songs people could understand what life was like for Luke growing up in Georgia and all the hardships he faced. Johnny Cash and Luke Bryan are two of the many
First, the lyrical content of country music is very distinct. Typically within a country song, the focus of the music is on storytelling. According to the website History of Country Music, this is one of the primary characteristics of country music. Particularly, it is stated “country music should have a strong storyline” (History of Country Music). There are several notable examples of this sort of musical storytelling; one of which is “Cocaine Blues” by Johnny Cash. He recounts the saga of a man on the run from the police for the murder of his wife, who finally gets caught and must accept his punishment in a court of law. The mentioned composition is slightly atypical of country songs in general
The “good” piece of music that I have selected is “Stay” by Florida Georgia Line. Owing to the fact that I am a huge country music fan and admire the work of Florida Georgia Line, my explanation of why this song is good might come off as bias, but I am going to do my best to impartially elucidate its value. Country music is known for its meaningful and relatable lyrics, so “Stay” communicates to individuals, who want someone back in their life who they have lost, that they are not alone. Additionally, Florida Georgia Line is a country music duo with talented singing skills. The pitch of the Florida Georgia Line singers placed “Stay” in the number one spot on the Billboard Country Chart along with its harmony, chorus, and rhythm that are pleasurable
September 11, 2014 my father passed away, so now not only the memory of 9/11 will be on my mind, but also the only father I have ever known. In his memory I made a slide show of his life and in the background I had the song by Tim McGraw , " Live like you was Dying"; and to this day I still can’t listen to this song to the end without thinking about him and crying. This song makes you realize life is not guaranteed but a precious gift. First I would not only tell my children that I love them but I would show them as well. My children are the best gift I’ve ever received, there is nothing that I wouldn’t do for them. Next I would pull out old pictures, videos, or anything that was sentimental to me, either good or bad they are memories
Republican presidents have often visited the spiritual home of country music, the Grand Ole Opry. Many of them think country music is a way of showing American pride. Country Music worships cowboy pride as well. Many country music artists have taken their genre of music way outside Nashville. A well known artist who became a country prodigy, also known as the “Man In Black”, Johnny cash, triumphed his way into fame by using his songs and lyrics to relate to others.
Country music originated in the 1920s in Tennessee. The genre was influenced by folk music from the Appalachian Mountains and revolved around themes of love, faith,
Music is but is not important to me because I like to listen to music but it's not the most important in my life. The topic of my song is it is about being kind to others and being able to accept others even though they can be different from you. The song that I choose was ‘Humble and Kind’. The artist is Tim Mcgraw.
According to Family Studies Blog, 50 percent of American families get a divorce. In 1998, my family was a part of the 50 percent. Six years later, I heard a song that made me cry because it reminded me of my father leaving my family. When I listened to this song I use to pretend that my father actually cared for my feelings. For a while, I wished Eminem was my father. During 2004, I would get on YouTube, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p3MutoUNiC8, and listen to this song on repeat and pretend my father cared for my family. For this paper, I will be analyzing the song Mockingbird, written and sang by Eminem.
Don't look at me is the first line of Christina Aguilera's song "Beautiful." This instant whisper from the voice of Aguilera creates an ashamed vibe for the song. It is spoken quietly and without any musical instrumentation. As the music softly and brilliantly builds up to the first verse listener's already have a misinterpretation of the lyrics. The audience presumes that the song will be about depression or shame and disgrace because one would associate not wanting people to look at you with shame. However, once they read more into the lyrics they notice that the meaning of the song is much deeper than shame and actually has an opposite message. When the audience hears the title of the song they could
Whenever someone asks me what my favorite recording group or artist is I have a very hard time picking just one. Music is a truly massive part of my life, and I have never been selective. However, when music and personal influence are both taken into consideration, I am not hesitant to answer with U2. U2 is an Irish band, and in some ways, you could view them as an underdog. Before U2, it wasn’t very common for an Irish band to really make it big. U2 is a truly legendary band, even though they came out of Ireland, a small country, they made a big name for themselves; furthermore, U2 allowed a wide variety of people to connect with each other through the emotional lyrics
