September 11, 2014 my father passed away, so now not only the memory of 9/11 will be on my mind, but also the only father I have ever known. In his memory I made a slide show of his life and in the background I had the song by Tim McGraw , " Live like you was Dying"; and to this day I still can’t listen to this song to the end without thinking about him and crying. This song makes you realize life is not guaranteed but a precious gift. First I would not only tell my children that I love them but I would show them as well. My children are the best gift I’ve ever received, there is nothing that I wouldn’t do for them. Next I would pull out old pictures, videos, or anything that was sentimental to me, either good or bad they are memories
Sweet Jesus! Rebellion never sounded so good, that’s what Green Day taught me with their song “American Idiot”. Witnessing America drown in a multitrillion dollar debt and foolish societal injustices will make even the sanest person go nuts.
Recently in class we have been learning about theme. We have had to analyze both song lyrics and photographs to figure out the topics and then come up with a meaningful theme. Below you will learn about how the song “Invisible” by Hunter Hayes and a photograph have the same topics to then relate to the same theme. The song “Invisible” is all about kids and adults who are different and don’t fit in with the “average crowd.” They start to become invisible just like the title of the song. In the photograph .3 kids are laughing and displaying that they can bully this kid because he does not fit in with the “average crowd.” As you can see both the song lyrics and photograph are about not fitting in and not being the “average person.” The topics
One of my favorite songs is Live Like You Were Dying by Tim McGraw, and it is a song about living life to the fullest. People should always live life to the fullest because you never know when it will be taken away from you. By singing “When it sank in That this might really be the real end How's it hit you When you get that kind of news? Man, what'd you do?” (McGraw), Tim McGraw is showing his listeners that sometimes life is taken away from you earlier than expected. Later in the song McGraw says “I was finally the husband That most of the time I wasn't And I became a friend a friend would like to have” (McGraw). These three lines show the listeners that in a person’s last days, they realize what is most important in life. McGraw’s lyrics
The Dave Matthews Band has been a musical power house for years. They have meshed together almost every type of music together to create their extremely unique sounds and attractiveness towards their music. Dave Matthews, lead singer and guitarist from South Africa has put together a band that no one will ever be able to create again. Dave picked four extremely talented and unique sounding men to join his band and together they have created some amazing music. The members of the band include Stefan Lessard on bass, Boyd Tinsley on violin, Leroi Moore on saxophone and one of the best drummers in the world, Carter Beauford. Together these men will one day leave behind a similar reputation as one of the all time greatest "jam" bands of time.
One of the main reasons I chose to research memory was because it reminded me of a song that I know very well. The song is called My Favorite Memory by Merle Haggard. In the song he sings these words “First time we met is a favorite memory of mine. They say time changes all it pertains to but your memory is stronger than time.” I settled with this song for several obvious reasons like being about a memory and being a song I know. Merle Haggard’s song is a hit off of his album Big City. In this song, he sings about a memory he remembers with a girl. Throughout the song he talks about all the different things he remembers either doing or just enjoying with this particular girl. I related the meaning behind this song to just the word memory. Memory
I choose the song “Humble and Kind” performed by Tim McGraw in 2015. You can find the song here on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=awzNHuGqoMc. “Humble and Kind” was written by Lori McKenna in May of 2014 (by herself) who is Nashville’s top songwriter. She wrote the song to reflect the life and way she wants her kids to grow up. Tim McGraw was asked to perform the song for her, were he gladly accepted. Lori herself later performed the song next few years. I would believe that this song would fall other the pop music form. As for country music is not really “country” anymore; it is a mixture of almost every form of popular music in America. The song is precisely what it sounds like: A humble, kind, acoustic-driven tune that softly
I think the author of the poem, "leaving the Motel," would approve of the song, "Me and Mrs. Jones," to express his poem in song form. It defines a furtive affair between a man and his lover. In the poem, "Leaving the Motel," the author describes two people are having an affair. The private couple do not want to get caught and ruin their lives outside of the relationship. The author writes, "Too. Keep things straight: don't take --The matches, the wrong keyrings--We've nowhere we could keep a keepsake" This line means the couple is double-check to make sure they have nothing of each others. Snodgrass was implying that there is no room for any mistakes in this relationship. If they had taken something of one another, they would be found out. Their secret would be relived. Now in the song, the composer Billy Paul writes, "We gotta be extra careful -- That do we don't build our
As I Lay Dying, is a novel about the death of Addie Bundren and the events that follow to her burial. The story is told through fifteen different perspectives over the course of fifty-nine narrative chapters. William Faulkner gives the reader insight into what each character is thinking and their reactions to the events taking place. Each member of the Bundren family holds their own secrets that they keep from one another. These secrets eventually distance each member from one another over the duration of the novel. As I lay Dying can at times be confusing to the read due to the language Faulkner uses, the multiple view points of the same event, and the unique personalities of each character.
“Hall of Fame” by Script and “Home” by Dierks Bentley are two inspirational songs that will be focusing on two main points, courage and the strength to succeed in life. People around the world listen to music to relax and calm their minds, inspire their lives everyday, and give them hope. Music can change the way people feel and think emotionally about a friend or a family member. American’s and everyone around the world are not focusing on the big picture, they are too worried about how people are going crazy and the bad side of the world. They need to focus on how they can fix the problem and lead the world. People that sacrifice themselves across the world and fighting in Syria or any other country will always be “home” in our hearts
William Faulkner’s piece of literature “As I Lay Dying” is a tale of a western-type of family living in what is described as “a cotton house of rough logs” and “a broken roof set at a single pitch.” Soon after the setting is described, Faulkner introduces the reader to the main character and 15-year-old Jewel, what caught my attention while reading is no information is given to us about the narrator (gender, age, etc.). Moving on from the introductions, the author’s excessive use of imagery puts the reader in the place of the character, such as “Sawing and knocking, and keeping the air always moving so fast on her face that when you’re tired you can’t breathe it.”
“Sometimes people think they know you. They know a few facts about you, and they piece you together in a way that makes sense to them. And if you don't know yourself very well, you might even believe that they are right. But the truth is, that isn't you. That isn't you at all.” (Sales, 241). In This Song Will Save Your Life, Elise Dembowski thinks she knows who she is. She thinks she wants to be popular. She thinks she wants attention. When Elise discovers Start and her love for DJing, she finds people who accept her, and give her attention she always longed for. Her life at Start is the one she has always wanted. Soon she’s promoted to her own DJ shift, where the spotlight shines solely on her, and people love it. Elise Dembowski is finally
There is a common belief that most people cannot advance themselves if they cannot be themselves, according to Marvin Gaye, “If you cannot find peace within yourself, you will never find it anywhere else.” The psychology of humans can be expressed in two groups, stable or not. These two groups can be applied to a psychoanalytical approach of William Faulkner’s, As I lay Dying. In this story, the Bundren family suffers the loss of Addie Bundren a loved wife and mother. Anse and the rest of the family, honoring her last wish, make the trip to Jefferson to bury her with her relatives. During the trip every thing that could go wrong does. This story is told from plentiful points of view and reveals the psychological state of the Bundren
“I’ll Be Missing You” is a rap ballad by Puff Daddy and Faith Evans featuring R&B group 112. This song was written in memory of renowned rap artist Christopher Wallace who many may also know him as ‘Biggie Smalls, Big papa, or The Notorious B.I.G.’ He was gunned down and murdered in Los Angles in March of 1997. Almost immediately following his death, Puff Daddy and Wallace’s widowed wife, Faith Evans, team up to say their farewells. What started out as a tribute to Wallace, ended up having a much bigger impact on the world than expected.
Having released one album a year since 2007, Chris Lambert recently took a brief hiatus from songwriting to confront his family history and get to know himself more deeply. After eighteen months and a road trip across America, he's returned with a new sound. The Blue Hour is his most personal album to date.
If I could spend one day win any person deceased or living it would be my grandfather Linwood Crowder. All the grandchildren called him pop and he is my biggest hero. He served in the marines as a Scout during the Korean War, which put him in a very dangerous position. He is my hero because he served his country and was awarded two Purple Hearts. When I was a kid he motivated me to go for my dreams and never give up, even when I fail and get knocked down. When I was 9, he died from a heart attack and that shook my little world. Ever since I have visited his grave and I tell him about what I have achieved and what I'm working on. I know he is looking out for me up in heaven. Spending one day with him would allow me to see him again and reminisce
