Humorous and Sentimental Wedding Speech by the Groom
I was going to begin with "ladies and gentlemen" but on looking around I'm glad I didn't. So here goes.
Distinguished guests, those of lesser distinction, and those of no distinction at all, family relatives, new and old, in-laws and out-laws, friends, friends of friends, and freeloaders, welcome to our wedding reception.
First of all I would like to thank my brothers and my new sister for their kind words.
I did have a speech all worked out for this special occasion, but of course now that I'm a married man, she has told me what to say instead. So here goes:
On behalf of my wife - and I suppose I'm going to have to get used to saying that ?I would like to start by

This whole day, and everything else you have given us, has been so overwhelming. We never expected all of this and you have both made us feel very special. I'm sure everyone will agree what a fantastic display it has been so far. I would like to thank you most importantly for giving me your blessing to marry your beautiful and intelligent daughter. I hope that you don't feel that you've lost a daughter, but that you have gained another mouth to feed and someone to clean up after. [Pause.] By the way dad. I have not forgotten. I'll sign the receipt for you. Dad has written out a receipt for me.
It says: Received one daughter in perfect condition, fully guaranteed, fully warranted. Comes complete with extras. Keep topped up with expensive jewelry, and lubricate well with fine wines. Service regularly with lavish trips to exotic and faraway places.
Warning: has a tendency to get irritable if doesn't. have the final say on everything. Thanks. I?ll keep that in mind. Care notes: gets bored easily, keep busy with a constant supply of chores. Hey I could do that!
Not to be outdone, my dad has written out a receipt for my wife as well. It reads:
Received one son, sold as seen, no refunds under any circumstances. We've redecorated the room and changed the locks, so you're stuck with him.
Care notes: dehydrates easily, top up
Best man 1: Ladies and gentlemen, may I thank you for attending this wonderful occasion. You can all agree that today has been a great success, so far, they look absolutely stunning. So if you could raise your glasses. To the bride and
They take it considerable amount of hard work and organization and it would seen an appropriate point, therefore, for me to ask you all to join me in a toast to my wife, as without her constant hard stork and organizational skills, today would not have been the fine occasion that it is. To my wife. Any excuse for a drink.
When I look at the bride and groom, I feel such a kaleidoscope of emotions. I know that Kari has found her true match and I know that theirs will be a marriage of long standing. My heart is bursting with love for you two today. I know you have a wonderful adventure ahead of you, and with God?s blessing your marriage will last for decades to come.
Good evening Ladies and Gentlemen - I would like to start by thanking Frank on behalf of the bridesmaids for his kind comments and echo the fact that they look wonderful and performed their role fantastically well, despite the inevitable and healthy rivalry that can sometimes occur. In fact, just before the service I overheard a furious sisterly argument about who was going to be first to dance with the best man. Understandable, I thought - until I got closer and heard them saying, 'You!', 'no, you!'
Good evening. I would like to begin by welcoming each and every one of you to this joyous and stressful occasion.
I am both honored and flattered to have been asked to speak for this wonderful occasion. As I started to draft this speech, I thought, “What is the world am I possibly going to say?” (The majority of you listen to me speak enough during the day.) The word SUCCESS came to mind.
Good evening, ladies and gentlemen. On behalf of the bridesmaids, I must thank Donald for his kind words. I must also thank all of you for coming today - I know how hard it is to get a day release.
Father are you out there, This is your daughter Erika Neumen I survived the holocaust. The last time I saw you were in the ghettos. I miss you dearly and can't stop thinking about you.
Following the ceremony, the guests enjoyed a reception at Ava’s Place filled with love and laughter while dancing the night away. The bride’s three-tiered cake was created by Wendy Burns Weeks, while the southern-inspired groom’s cake was made by Vicky Stanfield. Mollie Holland captured the bride’s vision throughout the entire floral design. The bride and groom would like to specifically thank their parents along with Pam Elrod, Stacy Hughes, Leah Renea Hunter, and Leah
To my beautiful wife Hallie Baxter, you have saved my life by giving me purpose and perspective. When I think back about the time I was sitting at that bus stop bench in japan, and you messaged me that day. I didn’t know what to say at first, but as time passed and our love grew our wedding day finally came. I knew when I looked into your eyes that day I found the other half of my heart. Never in my life have I gazed upon someone so kind, strong, beautiful or smart. You have stuck beside me through thick and thin. Without you I would have never laid eyes on our beautiful daughters face. I don’t know where I would have ended up without you. But I know I am grateful to be with you every sec of every day. What I’m trying to say is that you taught
Please know that we truly appreciate all the kindness that you have extended to our family over the years. We are so grateful for you and your influence over Jacqueline.
But I would especially like to thank BRIDES NAME?s dad for his kind words and everyone involved for organising what I am sure we will all agree has been a wonderful day and really got GROOMS NAME and BRIDES NAME?s marriage off to a perfect start...
I don't know what would’ve happened to me if you’re were not around to look after me, I would have been lost. Sorry I took some of your time from your family. Again, thanks for everything. When you were growing up, we never hold you back. We always encourage you to excel, and most of all be a good person. Now you are older, and what an amazing person you’ve become! Am sure you’ll do the same for your kids. May God guide you to make the right decision in your life and for your family. Have faith in God. Farewell my
Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen. On behalf of the bridesmaids, I would like to thank Scott for his kind words. For once in my life, I find myself agreeing with him - they look stunning and did an excellent job today.
Thank you for taking the time and having the thought to inform me of your plans; you show the respect you have for me and for us. Thank you for wanting to protect me from unkind words or behavior.
