The amount of pollutants such as Carbon Monoxide that all cars produce together can create a big problem to the air of Malaysia. For instance, air pollution can cause very serious disease to Malaysian, such as bronchitis, lung cancer, and heart disease. To solve those problems, cities, states, …show more content…
This metal is the actual catalyst which is an accelerator that increases the rate of chemical reaction without being used by the reaction. All the structure is located between the combustion engine 's exhaust manifold and the exhaust pipe. The exhaust pipe enters one end of the catalytic converter and exits the other side. 4 As the burned gasses leave the exhaust manifold, they enter the exhaust pipe and then the catalytic converter where they are burned again, at about 1600 degrees. Next, the reduced emissions are then released through the tailpipe, into the atmosphere. Therefore the combination of the hybrid car engine with the catalytic converter device will make a perfect match to counter the air pollution. 5 Conclusion In conclusion, the combination of hybrid car engine and catalytic device are seen as one answer to saving the earth 's environment and reducing the world 's dependence on oil. In other words, hybrid car technology also a practical solution to the rising greenhouse gas levels that lead to the air pollution. As concerns about air pollution, the leaders are encouraged to make sure this kind of technology is going to be a very successful way to save the air. 6 Appendix 7 8 References 1. http://library.thinkquest.org/26026/Environmental_Problems/air_pollution.html 2. http://klikkhas.bharian.com.my/klikkhas/bajet/Artikel2011/TeksUcapan/2010101517
The second largest source of greenhouse gas emissions in the United States is related to transportation, the burning of oil to produce energy in a combustion motor. The combustion process inside of engines is what produces the carbon matter that is emitted into the air through the exhaust system on gas-powered vehicles. Gas-powered transportation is accountable for 24 percent of the global carbon emissions; this should not come as much of a surprise given the amount of urban sprawl that is being seen in the United States and across the globe. In the past decade, the Environmental Protection Agency, the United States government, and major car manufacturers have been working in conjunction to find ways to provide a “greener” form of transportation (EPA, 2011). This has included testing the use of hydropower, ethanol, natural gas, biodiesel, and electricity as a means of powering vehicles, which has led to the introduction of hybrid vehicles. Hybrid vehicles run on electricity and gasoline, the byproduct of oil that is generally used in the engine combustion process of vehicles (U.S. Department of
First of all, hybrids produce 0% emissions from the tailpipe, while a car that uses gasoline produces tons of
Our modern society relies on cars as its main form of transportation, but the Earth’s supplies of petrol are becoming increasingly limited. There are concerns about the greenhouse gases and other gaseous contaminants emitted by cars. This has created a search for environmentally friendly alternatives.
Hybrid vehicles are continuously gaining popularity in the general public. With the growing societal concerns about green revolution and also achieving significant reduction in fuel consumption, hybrid vehicles are considered satisfactory in performance. They have become so popular that certain tax incentives have been offered by the government on hybrid vehicles. Due to their better performance compared with gas powered vehicles, we present the thesis of our paper as follows:
Next, hybrids produce less emission compared to normal vehicles. Due to the reduced fuel consumption, these steps indirectly lead to less carbon dioxide produced during the combustion of fuel in the internal combustion engine of the vehicle. The lower emissions lead to a better environment as the greenhouse effect can be significantly reduced (Fuller 2009). Lower emissions also translate to lower road tax in certain countries like the United Kingdom (UK).
Additionally, hybrid car has an interesting ability; it can switch power modes: gas or electrical battery. For example, many cars will be emitting carbon dioxide in a heavy traffic, because if the engine of an ordinary car is on, the gas will keep burning even though the car is not moving. However, if a car can be still on without burning gas, then there will be no emission of carbon dioxide. This is one example of how hybrid cars help the environment (Scott).
But with every great invention comes its downsides; the gas powered-automobile is no different. Focusing on environmental consequences, the typical gas-powered car releases pollutants
When driving your car from point “A” to point “B”, your car undergoes a process that requires the combustion of fossil fuels. The process of combusting fossil fuels leads to the discharge of gasses that effects the environment. When a car is up and running it emits many different gasses, but with a direct concern with the environmental impact, cars release carbon dioxide. Carbon dioxide
The automobile industry is constantly being revolutionized through new technology resulting in a fuel concept for consumer vehicles. Although these new alternative fuels are a break-through for the automobile industry, where do they stand in comparison to our conventional vehicles? This paper will address this issue by asking: What are the environmental and economic benefits and disadvantages of alternative-fueled cars compared to conventional cars?
This report explains how advantageous a hybrid car is and why conventional car should be replaced by hybrid car. Hybrid car is getting more popular and marketable because of its advantages. In essence, the report touches on the benefits of owning a hybrid car and some possible effects. The problems that arisen are environmental problems which catch the whole world’s attention, the prices and fuel are hiking up and the fuels are limited in supply. Therefore, hybrid cars are here to help people to overcome the problems. They are definitely the best solution to replace conventional cars because they are more advantageous than conventional cars. Hybrid cars have the ability to save fuel which ultimately reduces the dependence on
Hybrid vehicles, which are environmentally friendly vehicles, which will replace fossil fueled car in the future but they have a limited range and long fueling time. As fossil fuel resources start to become limited and non-environmentally friendly, car manufacturers are looking to find ways to make hybrid vehicles the future of transportation. Hybrid vehicles are beneficial since they are efficient, reduce pollution, and cut global emission than the current hybrids models. As such, hybrid-electric vehicles can have real public benefits for both the environment and for energy security. Hybrid vehicles can help reduce smog pollution by ninety percent or more in comparison to the cleanest conventional vehicles today. Hybrids also give a rewarding tax insensitive in a way to get more people to buy and drive hybrid vehicles to help keep the environment clean. As for now, hybrids have their strengths and weaknesses that haven 't been perfected yet, but they keep on getting better each year.
Abstract- Today’s environmental situation is continuing to spiral downwards; the ozone layer is receding, habitats being destroyed, and the air is being polluted. Scientists of every nation are researching ways to solve this problem. Due to automobiles sizeable contribution to the environmental crisis, studies are focusing on ways to reduce the harmful emissions caused by the internal combustion engines. Hybrid vehicles offer an alternative to powerful gas engines by providing the car with a secondary propulsion source powered by a strong battery. With this secondary power, car manufactures can reduce the size of the internal combustion engine, which accordingly reduces emissions and raises the vehicles miles
For a few decades, pollution has become an emergent hazard to the Earth. To solve that problem, human have been putting a great effort into filtering atmosphere, cleaning wastes from industrial factories, and making things greener. Waste from transportation is one of the most serious effects on environmental problems. It appears that scientists are searching for alternative fuels and evolutions in automotive industry, which must satisfy energy requirements and offer, at least, same performance compared to conventional car. The automotive industry, therefore, has turned to a new project, which is called hybrid transportation. This proposal presents how hybrid cars have developed and how that technology works in order to protect environment and save expenditure on fuel economy. Also, this will consider positive side of hybrid vehicle technology and its integration into society.
Company: Within the company there are a few areas to look at regarding Toyota 's introduction of the Prius. Areas such as financing, research, development, as well as others. When introducing the Prius, Toyota started early with its promotion of the hybrid. Spending US$15 million out of the US$190 million is spent on marketing in the 2002 year. Toyota informed its potential customers threw informative emails, TV commercials, and earth day give a way 's. Toyota put a lot into research and development to come up with the hybrid with the advances in technology, such as the engine of the Prius. The engine combines a 1.5 litre, 4 cylinder gas engine, with a
Air pollution levels have a large existence in big cities in Indonesia like Jakarta, Bandung, and so on. This problem happens because the number of motor vehicle use that is not limited [1]. Exhaust smog are the cause of air pollution which has the dangerous effects for people’s health. Exhaust smog is a result of burning fuel oil every motor vehicle. There are two types of burning fuel oil: the first is complete burning [2] and incomplete burning [3]. These types of burning have the differentiation in producing the remainder. Complete burning produces carbon dioxide as a result of remaining while incomplete burning produces carbon monoxide as a result of the rest. Carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide are gases that are harmful to people’s health and could decrease ozone layer [4] [5]. Exhaust smog is hazardous to people’s health. Exhaust smog is a result of burning fuel oil [6]. Consequently, exhaust smog has possibility to contain carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide gas. These harmful gases affect human respiration. Carbon monoxide makes the respiratory system becomes worse. Carbon monoxide will interfere with the process of hemoglobin in breathing [7]. As a result, people will not only feel lack of oxygen but also often feel dizzy and weak. In the other hand, carbon dioxide causes dizziness and fatigue to the sufferer [8]. In the prevention and reduction of the impact of exhaust smog, the Indonesian government decided all motor vehicle users have to check
