Abstract This report explains how advantageous a hybrid car is and why conventional car should be replaced by hybrid car. Hybrid car is getting more popular and marketable because of its advantages. In essence, the report touches on the benefits of owning a hybrid car and some possible effects. The problems that arisen are environmental problems which catch the whole world’s attention, the prices and fuel are hiking up and the fuels are limited in supply. Therefore, hybrid cars are here to help people to overcome the problems. They are definitely the best solution to replace conventional cars because they are more advantageous than conventional cars. Hybrid cars have the ability to save fuel which ultimately reduces the dependence on …show more content…
However, there are people who argue that this is not the right time to get a hybrid car because hybrid cars are now too pricey (Mason, n.d). Also, Patel (2009) claims that it has been estimated that the price of hybrid cars will rise over years. However, hybrid cars are not all expensive, there are also some other low priced hybrid cars. With the low priced hybrid car and fuel savings, consumers can save much using a hybrid than a conventional car. Besides, they can also buy a used hybrid car with a more affordable price. In short, hybrid cars are certainly the best solution to replace conventional cars. People can always put an equal sign between save fuel and save money. This is because when a hybrid car is accelerating, cruising or braking, it saves energy. A small and efficient gas engine is used in a hybrid car to generate power for an electric motor, which in turn moves the wheels. While extra power will be stored in a large pack of battery which will then being extracted out when the car needs a boost of energy to accelerate. This leads to a waste of running a big motor all the time being eliminated. Besides, a hybrid car will shut off automatically if the battery is fully charged. Therefore, a gas engine only runs when it needs to engender energy for electric motor. This in turn leads to an increase in fuel efficiency and also reducing cost
Gasoline powered vehicles are better! No, hybrids are better! Have you heard these two points-of-view? This last election, the question of energy was a part of both party’s platforms. They talked about wind and solar versus coal and oil, and gasoline versus hybrid vehicles. So here we are, the election is over, but the battle between a gasoline powered vehicles versus a hybrid continues. You might know someone who owns a hybrid car. My uncle bought one in 2006 and for him it works great, but he usually just travels back and forth to work. However, my uncle’s needs are not the same as my dad who is a contractor. In the end, you need to weigh the pros and cons before deciding on which vehicle is best for you. After much research,
As the gas price is rising up to 140 cents per litre in Canada, many people switch their vehicle to gasoline-electric hybrid car to gain savings from the better fuel efficiency. Many potential consumers for hybrid vehicle and hybrid vehicle owners think that the hybrid system is worth the extra penny due to better fuel economy. However, the realistic is that it has higher maintenance despite of its outstanding fuel economy figures. In fact, the hybrids cause more environmental damage than conventional petro powered vehicles and there are better alternatives. Therefore, hybrids should not be on consumers’ shopping list due to a numerous negative facts that consumers are unaware of.
Are hybrid vehicles really that much better than normal gasoline vehicles? There are known pros and cons of having hybrid vehicles. Climate change is a huge issue in society and continues to grow as a worldwide issue. Hybrid cars use both a battery powered engine as well as a gas powered engine, it’s a very complex system for more things to go wrong in. Also, it has a special system for storing brake energy in an on board battery.
For many years, the only way to fuel a car has been through gasoline. Many people believe that it the best form of operation, but recently alternatives to gas have surfaced. Today we opt to purchase hybrid, solar, and electric cars instead of gas fueled. The problem lies in the difference of efficiency of gas fueled cars versus alternative fuel options. Do we need gas fueled cars? Is it worth the extra money for an electric or hybrid car? Do gas fueled cars really affect the environment? Will getting rid of gas fueled cars cause a loss of jobs ? People need to understand that the continuation of gas fueled cars are detrimental to the environment. The replacement of gas fueled vehicles is best for the natural world.
There has been lots of controversy on whether hybrid vehicles are environmentally better than gas vehicles. In this new age of technology and vast growth of human population, there would have to be ways to make driving environmentally healthy considering the fact that millions of people drive(Goffman, “Electric Car Batteries Could Provide Energy for the Smart Grid”). Hybrid cars use clean electric , while gas powered cars use harmful polluting fossil fuels. For the most part, to make sure that this world becomes cleaner, hybrid cars will definitely need to be used in the future. Hybrid cars are environmentally better than gas cars.
Hybrid cars are built on the advantages of both combustion engine cars and battery-powered electric motor cars, and the hybrid cars will be an alternative to combustion engine cars until next step technologies such as fully electric vehicles or fuel-cell powered vehicles will take over. This article supports the ideas shown in the main source through hybrid vehicle technology.
Some people have also adopted the hybrid car trend, although many people think hybrid cars help the environment as well. Hybrid cars still uses some form of a gasoline when it is being used, thus creating carbon dioxide emissions. Whereas, the electric vehicle produces no emissions.
On Edmunds.com.” Edmunds. Hybrid cars have been saving the world little by little, first off hybrid cars have an excellent gas mileage because they are powered by an electric motor and slight gas, which can go much more farther than gas powered vehicles(“What Are Hybrid Cars and How Do They Work?). Also it will not produce smog , which is a good thing for the economy and the environment, the other reason why they are good in gas mileage is because the are light and there aerodynamics (“Hybrid Cars--Pros and Cons.” ). Hybrid cars are changing the economy by using much less has and less oil, they are more likely to save you money on the long
Before you consider a hybrid vehicle for economic reasons, such as leaving less of a carbon foot print, or not making as much carbon monoxide output as you would driving a normal gasoline powered car, realize this, to get the materials necessary for the hybrid motors it requires an extreme amount of mining and relocation of wildlife. Not to forget the enormous amount of tailings and hazards left behind as a byproduct of the materials needed. This causes more damage to the environment than the emissions from a normal gasoline powered
The increasing sales numbers are encouraging, but must be viewed in the context of the overall car market. The 100,000 hybrid car sales in 2004 represent about one-half of one percent of the 17 million new cars sold this year. If every new hybrid driver effectively (and optimistically) doubled fuel economy from 20
First introduced in the 20th century, hybrid cars are expected to become the new generation of transportation in the future. These vehicles run on fossil fuels, gasoline, electricity, or a combination of those ones. Using “green energies” leads to a wide variety of advantages, including reduced dependence on oil, stabilized fuels’ economy, and lowered greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and wastes discharged to the environment. Engineers, nowadays, have been spending a lot of effort on building and consolidating hybrid technology, so they are able to advance its performance, safety for customers, affability to the ecosystem, and especially the impacts of the hybrid on the auto industry. This paper provides some current studies on hybrid car and its effects on the environment, market.
The issues that could affect the demand for hybrid cars would be if the price of gasoline could be stabilized at a good price and the price of the hybrid was more expensive or cost the same as the conventional cars. The consumer would have to decide whether to purchase a conventional car in which they would have a much bigger selection or to purchase the hybrid car which has a much smaller selection to choose from. In this type of scenario, it would just depend on the consumer's preference.
A number of hybrid vehicles have been built and tested since 1980. Some of these vehicles have impressed analysts with their performance and low levels of exhaust and petroleum consumption. Interest in hybrid vehicles jumped in late 1993 with the announcement of funding for
Hybrid electric vehicle is vehicle that uses 2 methods to propel which are internal combustion engine and electric motor. Most hybrid vehicles use high voltage battery pack and combination of electric motor and generator to help a gasoline engine. There are 3 types of HEV designs which are series, parallel and series-parallel designs. While levels of hybrid vehicles are including full-hybrid, medium-hybrid and mild hybrid. For full hybrids such as Toyota Prius, they have idle-stop function and regenerative braking features. They are mostly capable of using electric motor which assists the engine alone to run the vehicle. The battery voltages are about 200 to 300 Volts. For medium hybrids such as Citroen C4 HDi, its features are the same as full hybrids but they are mostly not capable of using electric motor alone and its battery voltages are around 144-158V. For mild hybrid, it has regenerative braking and idle-stop function but not capable of using electric motor to run. Its systems are
Consumers are currently looking for better gas mileage and performance in cars that they buy. Honda’s hybrid cars has very good gas mileage, however, they do not have as good performance as petrol cars. This means that even though Honda’s hybrids are appealing due to their gas mileage, consumer may still stick to petrol cars because of the better performance. Honda will need to develop better technology to satisfy consumer wants.
