The Japanese have a saying,” The nail that sticks up will be hammered down.” The nail, of course, being someone out of the ordinary and unique, while the hammer is everything in your way and everyone trying to manipulate you into what they want you to be. Teaching mythology is no different than that nail that sticks up. People think it’s weird and not important to learn mythology so it gets taken out of schools and is forgotten, but they are wrong. Being a mythology teacher allows you to open your students eyes to a world of lore and imagination, introducing them to new ideas and beliefs to help them better understand the world we live in today. They teach their children about the monsters, gods and goddesses, and epics to show them why we believe in certain things and why our world works the way it does. Mythology teachers are fantastic story tellers and amazing listeners when it comes to presenting and answering questions, but they are also very open-minded and determined people. I want a career in mythology because it will involve me to do something I absolutely love and will allow me to share and learn new ideas. I have given myself responsibility to work hard in school and go to college so I am at my peak performance for my students to learn everything they need. I am willing to be the nail that sticks up and I am willing to go ageist the hammer if it means I can do what I love and empower future generations with this knowledge in mythology. Now, in order to do that I
You might ask, “Why would you even want to be a teacher?” Well, I surveyed a current teacher and was genuinely pleased with the responses that I received. I asked her what the main reason was on why she chose to pursue teaching, and she responded that she likes being a role
The career I chose is a secondary education teacher. More commonly referred to as a highschool teacher. A highschool teacher teaches grades 9th-12th and generally focuses in one subject area. High school teachers help prepare students for life after graduation. They teach academic lessons and various skills that students will need to attend college and to enter the job market (“U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics”). I chose this career because I want to be able to make a difference in young people’s lives and help shape them into good people. “I know that I have a huge impact on my students not just now, but for the rest of their lives,” says Linda Shelly, a high school math teacher in Glendale, arizona. “Seeing them rise to the challenge gives me great pride.” (“Teaching For a Living: Career Outlook”).
As children we have many goals and dreams. Eventually, the time comes when we have to make a career decision based on our interests and goals. The choices that we make now will have a lasting effect on our lives. Like most college students I have explored many career options, but I am always lead back to the education field. Teachers have a very difficult job because they have the power to shape and inspire our future nation. Although that can be an intimidating and often scary thought, it also gives me inspiration to move ahead in pursuing my goal of becoming a teacher. I have always had a passion for children. There is nothing like watching a child grow and watching their
There is many reasons why I want to be a teaching assistant. First off, it is a great job that would allow me to constantly learn and develop my data analysis and Excel skills, providing great experience that will carry over into my major and future career path.
If I had the ability to not worry about how much I bring home a week, and the ability to have any job in the world knowing my kids would get fed and they could get what they desire, I would be a teacher. Teaching isn’t a bad job but I want more of a safe guard when it comes to money and my job. I don’t know how much longer they plan to keep teachers around with technology growing. However I have always wanted to teach because of three major reasons. First would be that I would want to help our younger kids grow to be smarter than myself and my generation. Secondly I would like to help the students build their community, inside the classroom and outside in the real world. Lastly I also want to be involved in school sports. It would be a time consuming life however I believe it’s worth the time and effort.
For me, the decision to become a teacher is more of a way of life than a career. I have always loved school, practicing at being school marm from a young age, and voraciously devouring every shred of education offered me in my career as a student. If it were possible, I would be a student for the rest of my life. And then I still would not have learned enough. As a teacher, I hope to instill this appetite for knowledge in secondary students. They are, after all, the future leaders of the world, and what better place to expand the minds of the generations to come than here in Appalachia where education programs, especially the sciences, which I plan to teach, are poorly funded and children’s dreams
The career I have chosen to pursue is a Secondary School Teacher. It is a challenging and creative career to have and is a career that helps “prepare students for life after graduation. They teach academic lessons and various skills that students will need to attend college and to enter the job market” (“Bureau of Labor Statistics”). To me preparing students for the future is a huge responsibility, that I would be willing to take on. Not only is it a high school teacher’s job to help a student learn and understand important high school subjects, like math, science, english, or whatever else, but it is their job to help shape the minds of the the world’s next generation of passionate and promising young adults.
Choosing my career, that was not entirely easy. Back in Elementary School, I had a couple of teachers that were very good to me. They are who began to make my mind think and wonder about if this job would make a good career for me. It was not only my Elementary School teachers who helped convince me. There were some middle school teachers and a couple high school teachers who persuaded me. These teachers taught me with passion in their hearts. There was nothing but patience and love in their teaching. They taught me the different ways you can teach and get the lesson across to your students. I have kept their ways of teaching in mind for the days when it is time to work towards my degree. Watching my different teachers over the years have given me different reasons to want this career.
Most of my life I have been surrounded by children especially my cousins, nieces and nephews.
My interest in teaching stems from my belief that teachers can have an incredible amount of influence over the life of their students, and with this privilege comes a great deal of responsibility to the student. Knowing this, it seems like a no-brainer to me that a teacher, just because of the
Growing up, I went through the teacher phase, just like every other kid, where I lined up my stuffed animals and had a whiteboard in the front of the room. I eventually did move past that stage of childhood ambitions and moved on to things I thought were bigger and better. However, as I grow older I find myself going back to teaching as a serious career option, especially in a high school setting. I grew up in a family of teachers, all four of my grandparents and my mom worked as a teacher at some point in their life. I feel like teaching would give me an opportunity to impact many lives and see a lot of kids do some wonderful things. High school teachers not only get to help students learn, as do elementary teachers, but get to help them move onto their next stages of life. I believe if I only get to help one student do something great, all the work and efforts will be worth it. All the hours of grading papers, planning lessons, and dealing with 120 different teenagers throughout the day will have meant something after all.
I heard that you are bored and uninterested in Greek mythology, but that shouldn’t be the case. It can be overwhelming to hear about all the stories and I understand that. You will be glad to be an expert in Greek myths because they are referenced in various books and movies. Studying them might take a while but it is well worth it.
There has always been one big idea that my family stressed on me growing up while in school. That big idea is going to college to get a degree in something that I would like to do for the rest of my life.I thought that they were wrong because who really wants to go to a school that you have to pay for yourself.Until I made it to high school and by my sophomore year I actually figured out what I wanted to be and do for the rest of my life.I want to be a History teacher. The reason why because not only do teachers teach kids what they are supposed to but they also teach them certain life lessons that can help them lead a good life.I am writing to you specifically because it would be a great honor to be accepted into your college. You may ask why a history teacher and why not a english or math teacher, subjects that we are going to use in everyday.I chose history because it is the one and only subject that caught my eye and one that I actually understood. Now I want to take the time to explain why I would the best candidate for your college. Not only am I one of consistency or in other words able to stick with one thing and finish it but can also stick with many things and see them out.At times I can be a multitasker but only when I have to because if I always multitask and get everything done at once then I do not learn, so I guess it could be called good time management. My freshman year I joined at my high school the Public Safety Academy because I had in my mindset that I wanted
Knowledge is a very powerful thing, and to be able to deliver this to today’s youth has been a dream of mine for a long time. There are many advantages to teaching. I feel that is a very fulfilling profession. I have seen my sister in the classroom, and it greatly inspired me to want to make a difference in some ones life. Through watching my sister in action I was inspired to follow in her footsteps.
Everyone dreams of growing up and working at the job they most desire. Some little girls dream of being a princess, or little boys dream of being superheroes. While those jobs would be very fascinating, it is very unlikely that it will come true. For me, it was different. I have always dreamed of being an elementary school teacher. Of course, throughout the years I would change my mind, but I always ended back where I started. I knew I wanted to choose a career where I would be able to impact people’s lives. I could not think of any better job than being a teacher. When I tell people what I will be majoring in, they always question me. The question I get asked the most is if I’m sure I want to do this. My answer stays the same every time, “I am very sure.” My love and passion for kids and their future outweighs all of the negatives of being a teacher. Although, like all jobs, it will not always be a clear path, it will definitely be worth it in the end.
