After reading the CFR Backgrounders it does not say that ISIS poses a fundamental threat to U.S. national security. But what it does tell you is that, just because ISIS isn’t an existential threat right now doesn’t mean that United States can take it easy because it is still a serious threat to the US. The experts said that ISIS is a serious threat to international security but they agreed that the group, is in the wake of the Paris attacks, but it does not qualify as an existential threat to the United States. ISIS pose eminent threat to anybody who does not belong to ISIS group.
The continued threats of Isis are a growing foreign policy problem in the United States.
Islamic States of Iraq and Sham ISIS, Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, al Qaeda in Iraq, Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), Islamic State, Da’ish is an active group formed c. 2014. ISIS is a terrorist group that sole purpose is pushing their beliefs on others and if their religion isn’t accepted in the appropriate way (how they expected) they then result to violence. Da’ish is the official name of the terrorist group known as ISIS, dramatically arrived and shocked many people in the West. The horrifying and violent events that have occurred since the appearance if ISIS struck fear into the hearts of people all across the world. Even though fear is an extreme emotion, the hatred that came with it is even stronger and is more Ernest.
ISIS stands for Islamic State of Iraq and Syria. It is referred as a terrorist group by the United States, whereas ISIS considers themselves to be an army instead. ISIS has been responsible for many gruesome attacks all over the world one of them being the execution of Jordanian pilot Moaz al-Kasasbeh. They originated from Al-Qaeda in Iraq but they had big ambitions by kicking America out and setting up an Islamic state. To this date hold their land there unlike other groups like Al-Qaeda and Taliban. They have a huge support from people as their count being over 30,000 soldiers and followers. They are heavily armed, can fund themselves, have an organized infrastructure, and can cause a lot of damage. Later in 2006, their brutality lost them the support of Iraqi Sunnis who partnered with US forces to help push them out of the country. And for this incident, America takes a lot of credit for this and call it the Surge in which they helped Sunnis rise up against Al-Qaeda in Iraq’s rule. This led to Al-Qaeda in Iraq being defeated but not destroyed by only being driven out of the land they used to control and later they began rebuilding themselves by being involved in the fighting in Syria as they were trying to throw the Shiite Assad regime. Due to their brutal and severe tactics, Al-Qaeda disavowed Al-Qaeda in Iraq. Later in February 2014, the group Al-Qaeda in Iraq
Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it. So why is it encouraged now to act in the ways of one of the most evil group in our world’s history? With ISIS rising into a more powerful and structured rule, a new genocide has began to spread throughout many countries. Christians around the world are being treated less than dirt, just as Jews in Nazi occupied Germany had been. The Christians in Middle Eastern countries have been labeled with stamps, denied access to jobs, driven from their homes with no food to eat or shelter to go to, and killed in inhuman ways ("ISIS: The World's Newest Holocaust.") . Just as 90% of people in the Holocaust never spoke up and watched as millions of innocent lives were taken, people in today’s
So, to say that ISIS is not a direct threat and that they are merely a “worst-case-scenario” blatantly ignores the damage they have already caused to the U.S. Moreover, Sorenson includes the notes from ISIS spokesmen: “’Oh Soldiers of the Islamic State, what a great thing you have achieved by Allah!... He has healed the chests of the believers through the killing of the nusayriyyah (alawites) and rafidah (Shiites) [rejecters; those who reject ISIS’s version of radical Islam] at your hands… nothing will work with the rafidah other than slicing their throats and striking their necks’” (29). That being said, the term rafidah does not strictly apply to the alawites or Shiites, it applies to anyone who rejects the ISIS form of Islam. Moreover, another notes Sorenson includes states “We indicate that giving any kind of support to the United States, Western countries, and their allies in the region against a fighting Muslim group in the region is apostasy against the religion of God (Islam) and definite infidelity…’” (30). Therefore, it is clear that ISIS poses a threat to the United States. They do not wish to have peaceful relations with us, and the fact they have already defined punishment terms for associating with Americans does not bode well for the future of the American people.
Everyday innocent people are dying for no reason. A rising terrorist group called Isis is responsible for this and they need to be stopped.A group called Isis has been active since 1999 but most recently has seen a huge growth. So far little has been to stop them and it is time to do more about it. I’m not talking about more air strikes it is time to step up our game and send ground troops to defeat these monster once and for all. Isis is responsible for many death and many horrific terrorist attacks. According to a CNN poll 68% say America's military response to the terrorist group thus far has not been aggressive enough. In this paper we will look at that America thinks it time to send ground troops, how people don't think Obama doing enough, and finally all the harm Isis is doing. The U.S need to send ground troops to fight Isis.
The recent terrorist attacks by ISIS have without question reignited the debate over whether ISIS is a threat to the United States. I believe this question easily answers itself. Eighty two Americans have been accused of helping the Islamic states. While out of those eighty two people thirty two asserted to carry out an attack on American territory. However, twenty eight actually went through with it and took action on carrying out their plan. Only five were in contact with the Islamic states while planning their attacks. Even though most of the attackers were not in direct contact with ISIS while planning these attacks, their actions were influenced by the belief that they are doing it for ISIS.
But while dramatically 90 percent of Americans finally view ISIS as a serious threat to U.S. national security, but there still confused on if they really threat us as a whole and the american homeland.
During the round table discussion, I learned many things about what’s really going on with Isis and the possible results of this terrorism. Some things I absorbed from Isis consist of how they want to try and pick a fight with everyone around them and how they are trying to make the end of times occur. The roots of terrorism goes back centuries. Some professors stated that Isis is only trying to get America’s undivided attention by doing all of this unnecessary damage. Dr. Parker claimed that they have enticed the use of social media to inflict fear upon the American population, and those around them. President Obama claimed in a speech that Isis had been contained, and then they attacked Paris which brought complete surprise upon everyone
ISIS is a dangerous terrorist group from Syria/Iraq causing trouble all around the world. ISIS have had increasing violent attacks that include beheadings and suicide bombings. They have threatened to kill 2 journalist from the U.S.A if they don’t receive the quantity of money they want. I feel like ISIS is targeting on the U.S for more and more money. The will tend to get more violent and stronger as the years pass by. I think it won't be such a good idea to just go over and fight ISIS, that would make ISIS a bigger threat to America.
As ISIS began to cause terror and became a major risk of world safety, various countries formed alliances to fight against ISIS. The US launched a series of air drone attacks against individuals who were leaders and members of the terrorist outfit. Terror cells in the USA were also dismantled using intelligence gathered by security agencies such as the central intelligence agency and the Federal bureau of investigation. There has also been an upsurge of spy activities and laws have been changed to allow spying against terrorists both at home soil and abroad. On 18th November, a terrorist cell was dismantled in the suburbs of St. Dennis in the outskirts of Paris. It was discovered from information gathered from a cell phone that was on
America and the Middle East have had a very interesting history filled with blood. Sweat, and tears. The first real interaction of conflict happened in 1914 for oil. After the debunk of the Ottoman empire, the English offered to share their spoils of land and oil. The president at the time Woodrow Wilson declined the offer. During World War II American troops were stationed in Iran to help transfer supplies to the Soviet Union, and to protect Iranian oil.Truman accepted the 1947 United Nations partition plan of Palestine, granting 57% of the land to Israel and 43% to Palestine, and personally lobbied for its success.Three major events marked Dwight Eisenhower’s Middle East policy. In 1953, Eisenhower ordered the CIA to depose Mohammed Mossadegh,
The movement of ISIS in the middle east over the last two years has drastically increased. Some of the most recent occurrences of Isis activity are Recently in Bombing in Yemen Mosque, A suicide bomber and a car bombing claimed by the State of Iraq and Syria, or ISIS, killed at least 20 people at a mosque in Yemen's rebel-held capital. Furthermore on August 28, 2015 ISIS destroys yet another ancient ruin. Another attack was a massive car bomb, injuring nearly 29 people and blowing the walls off buildings. The latest victim of ISIS was one of Syria's top antiquities experts. He was devoted to exploring and preserving the ancient ruins. Recently Rebels Seize Abu al-Duhur Air Base in Idlib From Syrian Forces. Al Qaeda-linked rebels in Syria
This topic is relevant today because it is happening today. With the rise of the terrorist group, ISIS, we wonder what will happen to the world and if WW3 could happen. So if we learn from our mistakes, we can pass it and try to stop the newest threats today. History will repeat itself if we do not learn from it. We have a group that is ruthlessly slaughtering people, which is like the Nazi’s did to the Jews. So the topic is relevant today because if we do not learn from history, it will repeat itself, so by learning from this terrible time on the world, we can stop the new groups that might do the same thing.
To respond to ISIS current threats to America’s ally, France, increased surveillance via national troops on French and American territory. If France’s military is not large enough to provide necessary troops to be able to surveillance their territories, we will step in as reinforcement and provide additional security. No bombing or use of explosive forces will be used to combat ISIS unless a necessary and true threat persists. Under this policy it is crucial to understand that containing ISIS and coexisting is better than creating another wave of nuclear destruction and terrorism on American soil. ISIS recruitment processes has transitioned from hundreds of supporters traveling to Syria and Iraq to join, to creating smaller but threatening
