Generally, all surgeries have associated short- and/or long-term compilations. Most surgeries have a risk of bleeding, infection, anesthesia reaction, delayed wound healing, deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, organ failure, and dehiscence. Bentall’s procedure and right hemicolectomy with end ileostomy have additional complications. With Bentall’s procedure, associated complications are valve failure, cardiac tamponade, femoral pseudoaneurysm, ischemic injuries to organs and extremities, stroke, and death. One of the associated complications, significant to this scholarly paper, is IC. The possibility of IC occurrence ranges from 0.3% to 10% of any aortic surgery (Moszkowicz et al., 2013). Twenty percent of these cases need surgical intervention …show more content…
It is very important to recognize and treat if there are signs and symptoms of secondary peritonitis, sepsis, or septic shock, since these complications are associated with a high risk of mortality. Like all ischemic disease, quick response is important in avoiding necrosis. Therefore, ACNPs need to act quickly and treat patients as discussed above — stopping oral intake, consulting a general surgeon, starting appropriate antibiotics, and so …show more content…
The competency framework for advanced practice is helpful for professional development, especially for new ACNPs. The cores of this framework are self-improvement through identifying weakness and strength, setting a clear goal, improving organizational skills, and understanding the limitation of a competency framework for advanced practice (Stanford, 2016).
A competency framework for advanced practice can be applied in practice as follows: an identified weakness is being a new ACNP, and a strength is motivation to learn and self-improve. The plan for self-improvement includes learning new treatment guidelines, associated studies, and review and expansion of existing knowledge. To improve organizational skills, ACNPs should spend at least two hours per day, three days a week gaining new knowledge and expanding existing knowledge. Finally, the limitation of using this framework is that there are no objective tools to evaluate the level of self-improvement.

Describe the characteristics of the industry in which Intel operates. How is Intel positioned in the industry?
In order to prioritise goals and targets for my own professional development, I look at the influences that have helped me to develop my performance so far and look at what my training has taught me and how it’s reflected in my work. I examine my strengths and weaknesses honestly and try to think about the way I practice in a constructive way. I have to evaluate myself by asking;

Hamric explains, advanced practice nursing as patient centered and skillful activities provided to improve population outcomes. Hamric focuses on educational and clinical practice, criteria and competencies. The baseline criteria include graduate education, certification and patient/family focused. The education of an APN is graduate level with specialized knowledge of an advanced practice role and supervised practice. Professional certification is required for advanced practice with a focus on a certain population. The competencies include: direct clinical practice, holistic perspective, therapeutic partnerships, expert clinical performance, reflective practice, use of evidence, and diverse approaches to health (Hamric et al., 2014, p. 76).
I do agree that, the most exciting about this course was developing a professional development plan. That has taken away some of my confusion and lack of confidence about my new role. Studies have shown that feeling of frustration and inadequacy are common during the first year of an APN career. A successful transition depends on many factors such as confidence, clinical support, enthusiasm, and opportunities to acquire skills (Morgan et al., 2012). Benner’s Novice to expert model was a good guide for me to assess my weakness and strength and set my goals to become an expert practitioner. According to the Benner’s theory, an individual’s perception of situations change as experience is gained (Morgan et al., 2012). I also learned about the
The core competencies for the nurse practitioner is more patient-centered. The advance education and core curriculum prepares the nurse practitioner to manage complex health care needs, prevent chronic illnesses, promote quality care, integrate advance technology for health care improvement, enhance critical thinking skills, collaborate with other team members to improve patient outcomes, implementation of innovative strategies for evidence base practice within the organization and evaluation of patient health care. Most importantly, the nurse practitioner is a strong advocate for improving access to health care, increasing the quality of care patients receive while decreasing unnecessary health care cost. In order for a nurse practitioner
In this analysis of professional practice I shall examine the work I have undertaken in my current work setting and also evidence the progression in my practice. The names of the service users discussed has been changed in order to protect identity and to follow confidentiality policy (HCPC SOCPE: point 2). To conclude I shall identify and discuss my future learning needs.
Competencies are a combination of observable and measurable skill sets, abilities, and knowledge that is needed to practice efficiently within the advanced practice role. Hamric created a conceptual definition model for advanced practice nursing (APN) with defining characteristics that identify several core competencies, Guidance and coaching,Consultation,Evidence-based practice, Leadership, Collaboration,Ethical decision making.Hamric 's (APN) core competencies are an umbrella for the additional role-specific and educational competencies for a nurse practitioner (NP) and nursing informatics (NI).
For this reason, the National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Facilities (NONPF) (n.d), here are competencies set forth standards for NPs in the areas of scientific foundation, leadership, quality, practice inquiry, technology and information literacy, policy, health delivery system, and According to I-Wen,Yea-Ing, Pei-Kwei, and Woung-Ru (2012), a national survey found that nurse practitioners have a higher perception of competencies than the actual use of them. For this reason, it is necessary to have the perception and usage of competencies to be in alignment. This is accomplished by delineating the competencies along with the application.
Learning to discern and better delineate each of the APN roles and their scope of practice was paramount in this course. Likewise, differentiating between the direct care provider roles and those that play an indirect role in the provision of care was essential. However, the seven core competencies for APRN education were instrumental in role definition and development and are the basic foundation for advanced practice.
The purpose of the APN professional development plan is to apply skills and knowledge attained for individual and professional growth. The professional development plan is a strategy to ensure the promotion of excellence in APN practice as well as a continuation to strengthen advanced nursing practice throughout the career. Creation of a development plan will help you advance in a particular goal, objective, or position. There is an ever-increasing need for APNs to keep learning and keep up with the rapid changes regarding legislation affecting health care policy, quality of and access to care, and issues surrounding advanced practice nursing. Therefore, it is critical to be proactive and take personal responsibility to develop skills for your own growth and development. New skills and knowledge augment motivation in supporting activities including communication, education, research, recognition, and advocacy.
Activity 3 – Ability to reflect on own practice and development needs and maintain a plan for personal development
IC Solution is known as being an advanced technology company through which inmates have access to phone services, which enables inmates to be able to communicate with friends and family. It is an excellent communication service which gives solutions to prisoners. The service allows for them to book release when they need to do so. In your judgment is Intel a “monopoly”? Did Intel use monopoly-like power, in other words, did Intel achieve its objectives by relying on power that it had due to its control of a large portion of the market? Explain your answers.
