Abstract The success of any business organization, in the challenging environment of the new millennium, lies in the effective human resources management (HRM) practices. Effective HRM practices can develop a strong healthcare delivery system by effective team of Health Care Workers, which ultimately guarantees the success of any health care business organization. Human resources practices in health sector are a complex area, specially in the developing countries like Pakistan. HRM practices have a positive effect on employee and business performance. It has been recognized that HRM policies have to be at the core of any sustainable health system (Buchan, 2004). Background The health care is ultimately delivered by and to the people, so a strong understanding of the HRM practices and their impact on the performance of the Health Care Workers is required to ensure the success of any health care system. There is a strong need of human resources initiatives and more extensive research about new human resources policies and procedures to effectively manage the HRH through out the world (Kabene, et. al., 2006). Heath care organizations through out the world, have been discovering new ways to organize their workforces. The focus should be on the specific mix of types of personnel required for a specific job and the skills and interest level of the Health Care Workers for that job to attain a satisfied health workforce. So the HR managers in health care organizations have to move a step forward from staff-mix & skill-mix to address organizational and system factors (Dubois & Singh, 2009).
