Generalization of Social class helps me to come out of my comfort zone, makes me talk to classmates and listen to their views of other topics. It helps because it builds my commination skills and in the near future with other courses. The power about social class is we can listen to other student’s views and we can learn things about themselves. The good thing about social class is we can agree and disagree about different topics in college courses. The danger of social class is not everyone is wealthy enough to be able to buy resources for classes, like other students. The benefit of social class is all the students can hear different thoughts that can lead to views they can use. We also benefit to get to know our classmates about them and their education. It matters because the professor wants to get to know other classmates and don’t be shy to talk and exchange views that can be good life experiences and other courses. For instance, if students don’t communicate and be able to learn this will make that student to not attend class and will force to be given A’s to that person. It will not be fair to other students who attend class and attend to learn. This will make good class work so we can be able communicate to each other as a class and as a community. Education doesn't just provide you with the chance to earn a higher salary or find a job more easily. It can also provide social benefit. Most jobs in the U.S requires at least a high school diploma and equivalent.
Social class refers to the system of stratification of the different groups of people in a society. Social class makes everyone’s lives extremely different. So does education. Not surprisingly, affluent students in well-off school districts have higher rates of high school graduation, college attendance and entry to the more selective colleges. This has little to do with intelligence or ability. Statistics provided by the College Board for 2013, suggest that having more money is the key to getting
The social class in America is everywhere but it is often quite hard to recognize only because it is against the American principle for the social class system to exist. Whether we know it or not, we tend to participate in the class system.. By doing so, this leads us to separate ourselves based on our social class system, including class discrimination and social mobility
Many Jobs require you to have the skills before you are allowed to work. Just like Doctors display their credentials (Henslin, 2010). Education helps us students in seeking higher positions and employment.
It could be argued that social class is not as important as it once was. Social class is a distribution of a civilisation on the basis of the economy or social status (Oxforddictionaries.com, 2015). Evidence supporting this idea can be found when examining traditional cultural aspects like stratifications. Stratification refers to an organisation by which a society ranks people into a hierarchy. Major forms of stratification include; Slavery, Caste and Estates. In today 's society most of the extreme cases of stratification have been abolished as they have became less superior to civilisation. (Oxforddictionaries.com, 2015) However, many sociologists comment on how social class is still present but more hidden. Durkheim and Marx debate
Social class is a “tag” to define your status in a community. One of the main requirements you must have to be in the Upper class, is to have wealth and power. That is basically it, and obviously the absence of those characteristics could mean you are in a Middle or even in the Lower class. Education is today more critical than ever. College has become virtually a precondition for upward mobility. Men with only a high school diploma earn about a fifth less than they did 35 years ago. The gap between the earnings of students with a college degree and those without one is bigger than ever.
It is important to earn some form of higher education. In previous generations, a high school diploma was sufficient to secure a middle-class job and have the ability to support your family. Today, going to college and earning a credential has become a condition for joining middle class America. Economists predict that nearly two third of jobs will require some level of education and training beyond high school by 2020. It is a known fact that the United States is behind time in comparison to other
When people look at social class they don’t necessarily give it much thought, this is because they may not know what social class really is. Social class is division between people based on social and economic status. As harmless as it seems the negative side effects can still be seen in today’s modern society. When Aunt Alexandra in To Kill A Mockingbird said that Walter Cunningham couldn’t be associated with her family because of his social class is a prime example and you can still see the same bad effects peeking through the cracks in today’s culture. The effects of class-divisions are bad for society; by dividing class, it can lead to jealousy, health decline, and give people a lack of opportunity.
The social classes have been a part of history for a very long time. When we look back into history we see that the social classes has been around for more than 5,000 years. It changes but it never goes away. I think that taking it away will open up more chances for people who are not privileged enough to do certain things because knowledge and wealth is power. When you have the money you can have any kind of education that you want. The rich have
As described in Social Class Matters, placement in a class system can occur through ascription or achievement. The class that a person is ascribed to or achieves greatly correlates to the privilege in their life, and can determine many things in life – access to quality education, availability of medical care or living conditions. Social class matters as it can almost pre-determine the quality of life that a person will lead.
Social class refers to the system of stratification of the different groups of people in a society. These different forms of classification are, in most instances, based on gender ethnicity and age. Social class affects society in many ways. Throughout research I found that social class mostly affects health, life and education. The rich has more advantage than the middle class and the middle class has more advantage than the lower class all due to money. Health is one of the most important factor in one’s life. The poor are more prone to diseases and are the ones who are disadvantaged in the healthcare system. The lower and working class have low access to fresh produce and exercise facilities. The rich get one of the best education while the poor end up dropping out of school due to financial reasons. Education is also very important for preventing diseases, having a healthy diet and properly exercising. The poverty in the lower class
