Technology in the purest sense of the word, is the application of knowledge in order to develop or enhance something. From this definition, we can see that the development of technology dates back to ever since Homo-Sapiens were alive. From the creation of fire, to pencil and paper, all these are considered technologies. Although, in recent times there have been debates on whether or not the development of innovations in technology have been impacting us as a culture and as a society. Some argue that not only has technology made our lives better, but it has enhanced it better than what ever could be expected. In contrast to this, some believe that with the use of constant technology, there is a degradation in our sense of interaction and connection. Technology have grown from a simple calculator to a machine who can think it self. Computers/laptops and smartphones have become common thing for everyone in other words “it’s a must have thing”. Today we expect everyone should have one of these or we see them as an outsider or outcast. We treat them different, make fun of them, and tease them in front of others. Technology has always impacted us in many ways for example- as students, as teachers, and as businesses owners.

Based on these accounts, although obstacles such as status and money, may keep higher power structures like Wall Street and the government in power, the use of technology and education may allow the world to become more egalitarian, as people would have more access to information they can utilize to become just as competent as those in power.

The advancement of technology can bring about many helpful changes that propel humanity into the future and can help better millions of lives throughout the world. However, technology can also be used in evil ways such as fighting wars, which results in a massive loss of life. Three of these technologies or ways of modern thinking are the factory machines in the gilded age, airplanes and naval advancements in World War 1 and beyond, and the crazy modern thinking that lead to these machines.

As a society, it would be impossible to imagine a world without technology. It has become such a massive part of everyday life for a majority of people. Whether it is used for work, entertainment, social networking, or simply killing time, technology has continued to change, for better or worse, how things are accomplished.
