INTRODUCTION
The current BRCC website is poorly designed and lacks organization that is necessary for ease of access and ease of use. Because of this lack of organization, navigation and finding of materials becomes more difficult than it needs to be. This difficulty can be enough to dissuade potential students when they are searching for information regarding BRCC’s programs and facilities.
REASONS TO IMPROVE BRCC WEBSITE
By improving the BRCC website, the user experience for both faculty and students is improved. This improvement would allow for quicker access to BRCC information and materials for everyone using the site, including potential students. As well, by improving the website, there is potential to lower the running and maintenance costs of the website. By decreasing the amount of time each user spends on the website, it decreases the running costs of the website.
IMPLEMENTING BRCC WEBSITE IMPROVEMENTS
The first step in this process would be to hire a competent web design company with proven ability to create organized and functional websites. Every respectable web design company will provide a list of previous client websites that can be browsed and tested, this makes it simpler for clients to find a company that suits their needs perfectly.

Are they going to be Business-to-business site, which is where transactions of buying and selling goods and services are between two different businesses? Are they going to be Business-to-Customers site, which is where the business is selling their goods or services to a customer? Are they going to be a Costumer-to-Costumer site, which is a third-party site, like Amazon or Etsy, that allows transactions of buying or selling services or goods be between two different consumers? Or are they just going to have a purely informational site, meaning one just supplies information whether then having consumers purchase services or goods through the site.
South Louisiana Community College in New Iberia doesn’t have the proper resources for the students. It is an ongoing issue with the lack of updated computers in school. It is very frustrating at times when students are having to spend their free time trying to make the computer work, for instance trying to get them to boot up. Another major issue is not having the library available to student on daily basics. It being open only three days a week is very frustrating trying to figure out where students will go to

Premier Collegiate School has a staff of thirty (30) faculty members, including administrative staff and teachers, and an enrollment of 300 students. The school maintains two (2) servers, one for student usage applications and software, and one for administration. Also, teachers have ten (10) computers located in the teacher’s lounge; and each administrative personnel have dedicated computers (10) at their disposal. Each student is required to provide their own laptop with wireless access (ITT technical institute, 2016).
In summary, BCC is financially healthy in terms of the general fund, which has a surplus in FY14 and pending legislation that could increase funding as well. Both academic and career tech programs are well funded in terms of supplies and equipment The technology equipment budget increased dramatically in FY14 due to the start up costs associated with 1:1 but will decrease in future years with less computers needed to be purchased to sustain operations. In the future, BCC will continue to look for ways to bring down the cost of the 1:1 program by diversifying technologies to move away from solely using a more expensive Windows machine. This is by no means a complete review of the budget as only a few sections were reviewed and no historical analysis is included as well.
While it could seem limiting, those with access to databases provided by their schools could use this section to check if their university provides access to any of them. However, for those already out of school this could be a huge disadvantage. Although this could provide a disadvantage in the website’s ability to be utilized in more public areas of discussion, I feel it is pretty clear that the website’s goal was not to break into those areas anyway.
The site is very organized for any person to enter the it and find what they are looking for within seconds. Another thing that caught my eye is right in the middle of the Barnard site, it states "The College, The Students, The Latest" - from this, it looks like those three topics is the colleges many focuses which is great. Lastly, each picture on the Barnard website is of a female unlike the Macomb homepage, having both genders on the website.
Use an all in one hosting option. In other words, use a hosting provider that allows you to purchase and own a unique domain name. Or gives you one free as long as you own the domain name. Offers an intuitive (i.e. easy to learn) web building platform with a wide selection of responsive (smart phone & tablet ready) templates to build from. Provides unlimited pages, bandwidth, mail boxes, domains hosted and offers a free integrated shopping cart. The web is a buzz with Wordpress so make sure that Wordpress, phpBB, and/or Joomla are supported on their platform (this can help when you have developed an html5 skill set). Note: using one of the free website options, form a National Association, is an all in one option; but does not offer the full flexibility we have described here.
I have noticed that there are some flaws in our University of Houston-Downtown website. A good effective website is important to bring new students and facilitate the jobs of the faculty and staff. When compared to other university websites our website is cluttered full of information and links on the front page. The amount of information can be viewed as aggressive and may intimidate out audience. One example of how overwhelmed our website is can be viewed in our home page. Within the upper half of the screen we see a total of three different rows of links. Furthermore there is also rotating pictures between the rows of links. When people go to college you expect to have to do things on your own with no assistance, and that all the staff members will be a Grinch. During the “Helpful survey” 10% of the students agreed that there was little to no assistance here at TCC. As for the other 90% of the students, they believe the TCC faculty has been very helpful and kind. Or really did not have an opinion, but I agree with the 90% that the TCC faculty has been helpful, caring, and also provides good resources.
One thing that this unit didn’t change my mind about is how much I hate citations and how annoying they are to do. The only thing I think I could have truly done better is broaden my research a little bit more. I could have researched more about where they’re mostly located, the ratios, the statics, and the activities. The other thing I could have done is that I could have done community college vs Public college vs Private college. This would have let me expand a lot more and get more valuable facts about all colleges instead of just two. If I would have done that then I could have wrote a research papers with three body paragraph about each different type of college. I feel as in it would have been more straightforward but I’m very biased when it comes to private or public colleges verus community because I don't believe in community college. Another thing I learned throughout this whole unit and I will always remember this... Roland and bibme are the worst resources to go to when learning how to do an annotated bibliography. Thank you for taking the time to teach us the basics and getting us college ready. This truly helped me become ready for next year in writing
