In general, more than 800 million people go to bed hungry each day. Many people all around the world do not have enough food to eat. If more is not done to prevent world hunger, the population will rapidly decrease. More needs to be done to prevent world hunger by farmers increasing crop production, donating to programs that help the starving, and rationing food equally. If these basic needs can be attained many lives will be saved.
Background Information
To begin with, millions of people do not have enough food to eat. Thousands of people every year die from malnutrition. Food has a huge impact on everyday life. In Africa, people survive on using less than one dollar and twenty five cents per day. If they provide the everyday

Current Situation To start off, many organizations are giving what they can to feed the people that desperately need food. Feed my Starving Children donates years worth of food for families all over the world. Feed my Starving Children is an organization that packs and sends boxes of food to kids that do not have a daily meal. Over the past years, they have given thousands of people a chance to live a better life. The meals that the average person today think are disgusting and small, means life or death to other kids and spread a smile across their faces that no one would ever forget. They donate food to over 70 countries across the world. With the help of their company, making a difference seems easy, but what seems easy is different from what it really is easy. People do still not have enough food to eat. “Every minute in Africa, 12 people die from malnutrition.” (Senker 12). The population is rapidly decreasing due to lack of malnutrition. Food is readily available in many countries, but in the places where there are food losses, people are suffering major consequences such as death, severely malnourished, and underweight. Even though efforts are being made, it is still not enough to save everybody in need of saving from the bad conditions they are in today. The efforts may help for now, but in the future, nothing will save these need
More than 1 billion people in the world right now are suffering from hunger. Food security is “the access by all people at all times to the food needed for a healthy life,” as defined by the UN Food and Agriculture Organization. There are four points to food security, which are “availability, access, utilization, and stability.” When one or even all these points are missing, it is described as food insecurity. The rise of food prices in 2008 shocked and affected millions of people, many of whom were very poor. Because of the rise of food prices, there were protests and hunger was put at the top of the list, although it did not stay there. Science has to understand how to deal with hunger as the problem grows. Using scientific research and changing policies can have a huge impact on the issue of hunger. Population is
The Hunger Project is working toward this goal of ending hunger and poverty for a good cause. Every day in America someone wakes up has breakfast and goes to work and gets paid. Around the world some countries are not as fortunate as us. They have a population struggling with the poor, the hungry, the sick, and the mistreated. Every day we are lucky
In Mexico, around forty five percent of its one hundred and eighteen million people face food shortages or hunger. In south America, nearly ten million Peruvians suffer from hunger; that is nearly one-third of the population. In many countries around the world, it is the rural poor who suffer most. Hunger and disease, is usually in close combination and often precipitated by natural disasters or war, have plagued humankind throughout history. People need nutrition to be strong and to be able to go to school or work, but without any healthy food that cannot happen. Their bodies cannot process the activities or material they are shown due to lack of nutrients that you get from healthy sustenance. therefore, they are not able to get a good paying job or education for later in their future. World hunger is a problem that must be addressed as seen through illness,
World hunger is one of the many dire problems facing the human race. Although the common person probably won't have a big impact on ending world hunger, but by being aware of the issues you become empowered. It is first necessary discuss some other the myths about the reasons for world hunger. World hunger is not caused by population increase, but it is one of the factors. The global grain production is high enough to
Food is a necessary part of ever individual’s daily life. Without food, the body cannot function properly, resulting in poor health, exhaustion, and even death by starvation. Therefore, food insecurity continues to be an international global epidemic. The journal article by Harrigan suggests that the citizens of the Sub-Saharan African country of Malawia are in further poverty due to their lack of food and agricultural resources. The newspaper article from the Guardian tells the real life story of African citizens struggling to farm and find food due to the crop shortages that have spanned Africa for the past two years. This is a current global issue, and the journal and news article prove that there is much to be done in order to help restore
Almost all the hungry people, 780 million, live in developing countries, representing 12.9 percent, or one in eight, of the population of developing counties. There are 11 million people undernourished in developed countries. With anticipated impact of global warming and increase in natural disasters such as drought and flooding, food shortages in parts of the world (especially in Asia and Africa) can only increase in scale and severity in view of growing population and poverty indexes.
In the past ten years the world population exceeded six billion people with most of the growth occurring in the poorest, least developed countries in the world. The rapidly increasing population and the quickly declining amount of land are relative and the rate at which hunger is increasing rises with each passing year. We cannot afford to continue to expand our world population at such an alarming rate, for already we are suffering the consequences. Hunger has been a problem for our world for thousands of years. But now that we have the technology and knowledge to stamp it out, time is running short.
Malnutrition is still a problem in many developing countries particularly in Africa. It is estimated that 47 million under five children
Global Hunger is the most prevalent issue in the modern world. In much of Asia, Africa and other parts of the developing world, people are malnourished and do not have access to sufficient food. Hunger levels in third-world countries has decreased, however in war affected countries such as Iraq, hunger has increased severely. Malnourishment affects the body all through a person’s life, from the moment they are born to when they are elderly, if they survive that long. Life long hunger can increase mortality rate, stunt growth, increase risk of diseases and mental impairment. World Vision, an organisation that helps third world countries to overcome “poverty and injustice”, has a program called the 40 Hour Famine, where volunteers collect donations and in return give up something that people in impoverished countries do not have such as food, furniture and technology for 40 hours. This year the 40 Hour Famine will held on the 14th to the 16th of August and this year 38,461 people have participated in the event. Through surveys, posters and group involvement in the 40 Hour Famine, I will raise awareness and knowledge about Global Hunger around my school.
In 2014, 46.7 million people were living in poverty in the United States (“Hunger and Poverty,” n.d). That is 14.8 percent of the people living in the United States. Majority of those people were under the age of 18 years old, that’s 15.5 million children (“Hunger and Poverty,” n.d). Most of the people who are living in poverty don’t have the job to support himself or herself or a family. Providing food for these people and working hard to lower the number of people living in poverty, which leads to hunger, would benefit many living in the United States today.
According to the World Food Program (WFP), a 2013 study concluded that more than 842 million people do not currently have enough to eat. The same study showed that 98% of this figure, live in developing countries where 14.3% of the population is undernourished (World Food Program 2014). One thing certainly remains quite clear; the poor continue to pay the price in almost every single aspect of life today.
World Hunger The persistence of hunger in a world of plenty is immoral. In a world of 5 billion people, more than 1 billion are desperately poor and face food insecurity. 800 million are chronically malnourished. Every day, 35,000 children under age five (14 million a year) die of malnutrition and related preventable diseases. Millions more become blind, retarded or suffer other disabilities that impair functioning for lack of vitamins and minerals (micro-nutrients), robbing the human community of valuable gifts and talents. Hunger increases pressures that lead to a growing tide of refugees and migrants. Hunger and poverty are at the base
The 2017 state of food security and nutrition in the world report by the FAO finds that global hunger has been on the rise. In particular, 11% of the world’s population is hungry. In 2016, 815 million people were hungry. This number was 38million more than in 2015 . In its estimation, 489million hungry people reside in countries with civil conflict and strife. IFPRI on the other hand has found that the levels of hunger have decreased by 27% from the 2000 levels. This revelation is contained in the 2017 Global hunger index. Despite the seemingly varied numbers, both reports recognize the need to invest in peace to ensure food security and nutrition.
You watch TV and suddenly some poor and hungry children that live somewhere in Africa appears and you think “Oh I wish I could do something”. Nowadays there are some things that we can do to help. We can donate money and we send old clothes that we don’t use anymore. These small things for us are a huge difference for them. A normal meal for us may be the same for them as food for a whole month or so.
Food is one of the basic needs of a human being to survive. All of us depend on food for having a good health, therefore with the lack of food many people will be starving and malnourished.
