There are many things that I would change to make sure that independent studies are effectively used in the classroom. I think one of the things that I would do is make sure that I do different levels of independent study. In each of the models there is a building block that needs to be done before we establish what most of us think of as an independent study. For example, I would use the Treffinger model for self-directing learning (Johnsen & Goree, 2009, pg. 420). At the end of each nine-weeks the students would have a project to be completed on a topic that we have covered (Johnsen & Goree, 2009, p. 426). They would have minimal class time but be guided through the process giving the different steps, when they are due, and defining
At the same time I develop small groups in the classroom as students work better with their peers. Using a learning center with the students and putting them in small groups whereby each student has the opportunity to be the caption of the group. Learning centers will help the students to move independently during hub time, this gives each child a chance to pace themselves. The learning hub provides the tools that the student have right at their fingertips. The great part of the Hub center as we call it is independent work can be done as well in regards to: charts, images, linguistic and visual. This area is at
An independent setting is where they have more freedom. They may not reply on government funding and also they may not have to follow the EYFS or the national curriculum.
At one of my settings the children were given time each day for independent learning. This means the children are free to choose what they would like to do from a choice of activities like painting, construction, graphics, and reading. There are so many different strategies in which a setting can use self-reliance. Two strategies that I’ve picked are independent learning and morning routine. Children need routines to give them security. It reassures them that they are safe and in a caring and loving environment. When the children come in they know that they have to put their coat and bags on their pegs. These pegs are named and some settings have a picture next to their peg. The pegs are at their level which makes the job easier for the child. All of this encourages independence as the children are self-reliant and they don’t have to rely on the teacher. This improves the child’s self-efficacy as they start to believe that they can perform certain tasks by themselves it also makes the child aware of their strengths and weakness.
The purpose of the study is to determine the effectiveness of anger management training, specifically, with adolescent males with conduct disorder (Gliner, Harmon, & Morgan, 2000).
There is an empirical association between the dependent and independent variables. My research design for this paper will be a longitudinal research design. My data will be collected over time. My dependent variable are the Cambodian citizens. The independent variable in my research proposal are the laws enforced to combat trafficking. I will study whether the static, unchanging forms of law in Cambodia and determine if the number of victims to human trafficking decreased, increased or stayed the same. This longitudinal design will also use some features from a panel design. A panel design allows me to determine how individuals change, as well as how the population as a whole has changed or in this case, how it is NOT changed. Even though a panel design hard to conduct, individuals such as a judge, a person that maintains a long presence within the community, will be a useful source of whether the laws are working or not.
I believe that I am proficient in establishing a classroom setting that calls upon the students to learn in an individual and collaborative manner. I believe that I have sufficiently encouraged positive social interaction, active engagement in learning, and self motivation. I have shown this in learning activities that have been presented to the students. An example of this would be with the placard assignment, which had the students fill out a sheet that corresponded to four maps to help them figure out what artifacts certain cultural regions would use. During this learning segment, students would have to be self directed after the directions were given, the students would have to use collaborative skills, and they were all engaged during
1.2 Independent schools rely on fees and money from investments they don’t receive government funding. They will have an entrance exam and they also devise their own curriculum framework. Independent schools have
This will also promote a student to work independently.Different ways of Learning-Teachers will provide more than one way for each child to learn appropriately.-Teacher will recognize that each student is different and come from a different background in life, so several outlooks on certain subjects will be used.
The ILit application has a familiar structure through each unit to effectively build the skills/strategies taught to each student. After each consecutive lesson, my scaffolding becomes less and less, until the students can utilize the skills/strategies by themselves. Which is the ultimate outcome for my FL’s IEP goal towards the end of the school year. For the lesson structure, each lesson usually begins with every student having independent reading time, for at least five to ten minutes. The benefit of including independent reading before our lessons, builds on the relationship our students have with literature. This shows my students we can read for our own entertainment and at our leisure. Also being able to do the opposite, and read for
I am independent. It is extremely difficult for me to give control to other people. I am the type of person to be quiet in class but loud around my family and friends. I am originally from Minnesota. I am counting down the days till I graduate from McIntosh. I am ready for a new adventure wherever it may take me.
One strategy that I have used consecutively in the previous years when selecting an independent study unit text was asking for suggestions from my peers who have had their English course before me. I personally prefer listening to other’s experiences to get an idea of what I should do, so I asked about which novel they have read and if they enjoyed it. I also asked them if they could choose another novel, which one would they have chosen instead of the one they read and if those novels would suite my style of reading. Not only did I ask my friends, I also asked my teachers who were teaching that course, if I should choose one book over the other. My thought process at the time was asking myself repetitively if I should choose the novel my
I would like to thank you and the Department Chairs for taking the time to consider my independent study on architecture, and I understand that you have decided not to approve it for next year. However, it is a course that is very important to me, and it is one that I believe would greatly enhance my education and experience at Bentley.
1. Autonomous learning is a unique innovative technique which is actively implemented in the academic transaction process. It implies gradual switch from traditional teacher-centered studies to a self-learning process, when students are placed in such conditions where they are to employ their critical thinking, creativity, collaboration and communication skills in addition to the problem-solving skills that will make them experts on a subject studied through project- work, group work etc. For Example- A project on garbage disposal in class V was given to make them learn about environment and sustainability.
In my classroom, I will differentiate learning by offering a variety of methods of instruction such as hands on models, cooperative learning, technology, lectures, group activities, independent learning assignments. I will also adjust delivery based on understanding of concepts. I
Graduating and getting out on your own is a difficult step to make. There are a lot of things that you have to take into perspective. The choices that you make when you get out of highschool believe it or not are crucial and life altering. Decisions that you have to make are ones like what you want your career to be, where you want to live, and a big decision is buying a house. In making these decisions you have to do a lot of research and things to be prepared. I did a lot of research in hopes of finding a career that I would like and three things that I could see myself doing was owning my own spa ($100,000 yearly salary), managing a spa($60,000 yearly salary), or being an
