Influence of Organizational Behavior In today’s business world, every business incorporates employees and every employee has their own motivational values. A successful and efficient manager understands the relationship between job satisfaction, motivation and performance and has developed a strategy to enhance each one of these organizational performances. These factors can determine the success or failure of an individual, as well as an organization as a whole. Managers must increase their employee satisfaction by sustaining a fair work environment, motivate employees by offering opportunities for career advancement, and enhance performance of employees by implementing a satisfying reward system. “Employees with higher job satisfaction: believe that the organization will be satisfying in the long run care about the quality of their work are more committed to the organization have higher retention rates, and are more productive” (Management Consulting: organization behavior, statistical relationship, organization behavior 2015). Job satisfaction can be increased through an overall fairness of a work environment. This includes the fairness of work hours, competitive environment, treatment and compensation. By doing so, employees attitudes will be enhanced, which ultimately leads to job satisfaction. It is imperative that employers get to know the personal needs and wants of their employees in order to establish tactics in which to motivate each of them. It has been shown that employees who have a high satisfaction rate on the job or with the company that they work for, are less likely to leave the company that they work for compared to those who have a less satisfaction rate (Hellawell, 2012). As mentioned earlier, this would result not only in cost savings, but it would improve the overall relationship between the employee and the company. Alternative models exist that describe job satisfaction and job performance having mutual influence on one another as well as no influence at all. Job performance may also be enhanced through organizational and personal factors like reward systems and self-esteem. Job performance itself has multiple aspects and each aspect can be affected through different means. A simplistic correlation between job satisfaction and job performance should be avoided. The level of education is slightly negatively related to job satisfaction. If personal skills and abilities are not required by a job, job satisfaction decreases. When a person is more adjusted personally, they will be more satisfied with work. Most of all having a job with decent and fair wage may be the most important variable to job satisfaction. High job satisfaction is associated with low turnover and low absenteeism and with high commitment. Although the evidence is not conclusive, high job satisfaction is associated with high performance and prosocial behaviors.
