Chapter 1 Review Questions 1-17 on page 38
1. What is information system? What are some ways information systems are changing our lives?
By definition, Information System is a set of interrelated components that collect, manipulate, store, and disseminate data and information and provide feedback mechanism to meet an objective. There are so many ways that information systems are changing our lives both in our personal lives and in the businesses and corporations that are around us. For example personally, I pay my SRP (Electric Bill), Utilities (Water, Trash, and Sewer), Cox Communications (internet), and check my bank account through Bank of America all online. This is done through the Information Systems that are available to

5. What are the components of any information system?
There are four components for all information systems:
Inputs – activity of gathering and capturing raw data.
Processing Mechanisms – Converting or transforming data into useful outputs.
Outputs – Production of useful information, usually in form of documents and reports.
Feedback – Output that is used to make changes to input or processing activities.
6. What is feedback? What are possible consequences of inadequate feedback?
Feedback – Output that is used to make changes to input or processing activities. The possible consequences of inadequate feedback can involve management to make poor business decisions based on the feedback provided. It can affect how things are manipulated in the system as well. If no one is aware of an issue or concern, it will not be corrected. Also, this inadequate feedback can lead to poor forecasting.
7. How is system performance measured?
System performance can be measured in a number of ways. Two of the main paths were mentioned earlier in this assignment through efficiency and effectiveness. When you are measuring system performance, usually this also calls for using performance standards. A system performance standard is a specific objective of the system.
8. What is a knowledge management
Also information systems assist with making decisions and business processes by formulating strategic plans and make decisions for the organisation longevity and prosperity. Additionally information systems add controls to employee processes, ensuring
Information systems interact with the organizations and influences the organization in many aspects of the whole organizational structure to the daily behavior. Information systems can enable strategies in four aspects including low-cost leadership, product differentiation, focus on market value and strengthen customer and supplier intimacy.
Take each bag of popped popcorn and count the individual kernels that did not pop and record the data on the chart. Perform this for each
‘Information system’ = a system for generating, sending, receiving, storing or otherwise processing ECs (s 3(1)).
Information system is a combination of hardware, software, infrastructure as well trained personnel who organized and facilitate planning, control, coordination and decision making within an organization. Information systems are also able to implement a vital integrated set of components for collecting, storing, and processing data. With this, it provided organizations with the necessary information, knowledge, and digital products needed. Information system bring the meaning of business applications that manage their operations, compete in the market place, manage accounts and human resources. This system have a vast variety of components that are crucial for a enterprise, business to function at his highest level, IT software is responsible that all system are reliable and up to date.
Feedback- This area refers to the ongoing information that employees receive in the performance of their jobs. At my job, we receive feedback, letting us know that we exceeded the standards for call wait times or if we have not met this standard. Feedback also goes back to the management in that they become aware of the situations.
Feedback the process within which matter, energy, and information, as system output, provide feedback for corrective action to change, enhance or stabilize the system.
Information systems (IS), technically are a set of interrelated components that collect and retrieve information, process and store it and support the organization in decision making. Information Technology (IT) is a shared technology and provides the platform for specific information. It consists of hardware and software for a business to achieve their objectives. Included is the computer systems, the computer, any hand-held devices, software the company needs to operate and storage. (20)
To help support this every organisation has an Information system. The UK academy for Information Systems defines information systems as “the means by which organisations and people, using information technologies, gather, process, store, use and disseminate information”
This aim of this document was to provide a summary and definition of the concept of Information Systems and contrast the subject against Information Technology. As part of this I have defined systems and I then have offered some brief commentary on how IS has changed over the last hundred years or so.

5) Feedback refers to the degree to which a task permits workers to obtain evaluation about their work. Workers enjoy hearing when clients are really pleased with the quality of their work and regular information of this type leads to more motivated employees. High feedback: A salesperson delivered a car to his customer after he tests it to confirm if it operates as it should be. Low feedback: An electronics factory worker who assembles a DVD player and then sends it to a quality control inspector who tests it for accurate operation and makes required alteration.
