Intellectual wellness is one of six dimensions of health that help people achieve a thriving lifestyle. Intellectual wellness is the ability for one to think clearly and use brainpower to meet life’s challenges. There are many examples of using intellectual health whether its real life, a text, or even a movie. Intellectual wellness is a part of a person’s wellbeing that helps a person decide with a clear mind and learning from experiences. One example is from the movie “The Dead Poets Society” from the scene of Neil Perry’s death. Just before the scene of Neil’s death he had an argument with his father about his acting and just before they were finished Neil’s father said “sleep on it”. Unfortunately Neil did not sleep witch lead to Neil committing suicide. Neil did not get any sleep meaning he wasn’t thinking clearly and used poor judgment. I think that this all could have been avoided if Neil got some sleep and started fresh in the morning. In my recent life experience I was working on installing software for my computer and experienced issues at the start. I took a break from my computer after having issues with the install and when I returned I was able to finish it. It helps quite a bit when you take a break from a task and pick it up later. I also had an experience in making a few mistakes in training for the Police Explorers. One mistake I made was during crime scene training where I failed to perform my leadership duties. I got overloaded and did not assign my team with their assignments and after I did I learned from that mistake and will not let it happen again. The second mistake I made was getting ahead of myself and not finishing a task correctly. I feel awkward answering this question because I have made many mistakes and there isn’t anything good out of those mistakes. In my opinion, wrong decisions never bring anything positive. Wrong decisions decrease morale and self-esteem. At a young age, mistakes or wrong decisions don’t affect much, but as you get older wrong decisions can have a tremendous negative impact. Being able to learn from them is an essential principle for personal and professional growth. Our experiences add character to our personalities and mold us into who we are. They can make or break a person. For me, it was both. Physical wellness means ability to recognize the benefits of physical activities and adopting healthy habits such as routine check-ups of vital signs, a balanced diet and exercise while avoiding the use of tobacco, drugs and excessive use of alcohol. The benefit of recognising and learning from mistakes is that it can increase relationships with colleagues as they will see that you are willing to take responsibility for the mistakes you make and that you are willing to improve not to make the same mistake again. It is important to realise a mistake so that you can find ways to not make the same error. We don’t want to become discouraged if we do something wrong, so it is important that when we do make mistakes, we just take it as an experience of what not to do next time. The best way to learn from a mistake is to ask others and see how others’ dealt with similar problems.

There are six separate and distinct categories when defining one’s wellness. Those stages are physical, social, vocational, environmental, psychological, and spiritual. Without one the other could not exist. Physical wellness includes being physically fit, eating nutritiously, and getting adequate sleep. I consider myself to be doing well in this category. Health and wellness are increasingly being used. Health actually is more to a medical and describes the mental and physical state of a person. It will reflect a lack of disease of a person. In the contrary, wellness is defined as the overall process of maintaining a state of good health of a person. Wellness involves conscious decisions on the part of the individual, while health simply describes a person's condition of the body. Everyone, at some point in their life, has made a mistake. Sometimes we get lucky and only falter a little, making it through the problem relatively intact. Other times, we mess up a lot and have to fix what was damaged over a long period of time. However, the same is true for most, if not all cases—those who make the mistake learn from it. Often times, our failures teach us valuable lessons that we only gained because of the experience we gathered after messing up. I have personally achieved a wealth of knowledge and experience just from all of my own little mishaps, and a few major ones.
