Background The placement at the Granite Club was one the most interesting internship with lots of learning. The reason for choosing the Granite Club was so that I would be able to experience and get exposure to different type of the hospitality field. I had previous opportunities at hotels or restaurants, but after meeting Jessica Nigh from the Granite Club through a course, I wanted to work at a high-end country club. Since, the Club was a huge place, rather than staying as one role, Jessica and I agreed that it would be best if I were on a rotation for the time that I was at the Club to gain the whole Club experience. The placement allowed me to experience an entirely distinctive hospitality service that I would have never been able to …show more content…
I thought it would be just another chance to build my resume and gain some type of guest service experience. However, through the internship at the Granite Club, I was able to learn much more than what I have expected and was able to achieve all my goals and objectives. First, I was able to learn about the Club as a whole and through it, saw departments that I would like to be in. By rotating into different departments each week, it was an great opportunity to not only see how everything works together, but for myself to see where I would like to set my career. Secondly, I was able to connect and shadow supervisors and managers that I would want to be. Through these experiences, I learned managerial roles and duties. Moreover, this opportunity provided me with connections and network that I would have never gotten anywhere else. The people I worked with were veterans in the industry with vast knowledge and experience. It was great to just feed of them and understanding how they were able to achieve the place they are at now. Lastly, I was able to work with both parking and member services departments to write procedures that managers would write. I was given the opportunity to understand as a manager and write up procedures that would help the staffs to improve and keep Granite Club standards. One of the challenges that I encountered working at the Granite Club was changing my mindset. From my previous experiences at restaurant, residence and hotel, I would wage
My internship experience proved to be valuable in terms of exposure and knowledge. Attending the M-1 Rail Community Advisory Council meetings were very rewarding. I was able to observe and interact with the public on their thoughts about M-1 Rail. The internship has taught me that it is important to learn how to demonstrate professionalism but courteous behavior at all times. My internship has definitely given me a better understanding of my skill, but most importantly, I’ve come to learn that I am not alone. This job has taught me that almost everybody is in my same position. Thanks to my I know that if I continue to work hard things will fall into place. Being my first position in an office atmosphere, I didn’t know exactly what to expect.
The situation that brought me from my first internship to the second one was frustrating and difficult. Nonetheless, it provided me with beneficial learning experiences for my career and life in general. One of the silver linings of interning at these two considerably different internship experiences was increasing my knowledge of two different types of business. The first of these areas was in the Non-Profit organization at PACS, where their mission is to empower individuals who are struggling. The nonprofit industry has always deeply interested me, and what I learned at PACS only fueled that interest. The time I spent at PACS was brief and ended abruptly. Nonetheless, I learned valuable and significant information and gained an understanding of the various business characteristics that are essential in nonprofit organizations.
The main task of my internship was to gain more experience and knowledge of our respective field. Overall, the experience proved to be both enjoyable and rewarding. During this internship I used the skills that I learned from my Medical Assistant class and used them in the real world scenarios at the hospital. Also while I there I was exposed to new experiences. Such as performing Urine test on Drug and alcohol patients. For this procedure I had to stand in the restroom with the patient's and watch them urinate into a cup. I had to stand in the restroom with the patients because in the past they try and cheat the system. For example
After speaking to people, I often had a time to reflect on what I heard. The product was a much greater understanding of the complexity of the American political system. I grew up thinking that that one side was right, and the other was full of irrational arguments. However, people sharing bits of their lives with me taught me that is not true. The support and opposition for every policy makes sense, and deciding which is right is far more of a value judgment than a facts-based judgment than I could have imagined. I feel less sure about what I believe politically after the internship, but again, I do not think that is a bad thing. For the first time, I know how to enter into a thought process without a bias, and able to listen to both sides. This skill is critical for any studies or career in the social sciences.
The steps I took to become an employee at the CAPS program as a Youth leader were painstaking and got so difficult to the point where I was ready to give up at each new obstacle, working for CAPS program helped me achieve a self gratification that no restaurant or fast food industry would ever grant me. Working at Sundowners Family Restaurant, I was able to interact with some amazing people, such as coworkers and the regulars that would recognize me each time they came to enjoy their meal. My first job had an impact on me and what I wanted for my future, I knew I didn 't want to be like most workers there and settle for that place I wanted to do something with my life. A few months after working there I decided to enroll at Valley and do something with my life. The food industry creates a fast pass rush that challenges workers to try their best so customers can enjoy our services,
Through this program I would be able to improve on my leadership and people skills, giving the real experience that I would be getting through this program. The program offers a lot of things that I would be able to use in the future to get my foot through the door. I like this program because it offers many aspects that can help
During an internship you would want to learn about the business that you are interning for. You wouldn’t want your experience to just be about answering phone and pushing papers. My time that I have spent thus far interning in the Athletic Department has not been a waste of time. I have learned that even though the Athletic Department is part of the school, it is still operated as a normal business. Also, I have learned that is very important that every
Over the course of the past ten weeks I have gained a vast amount of knowledge and have had the opportunity to grow my business knowledge with one of the nation’s most well respected companies. Although my time with the Kroger Company has been brief, the experiences I have gained are invaluable to growth of my career path in business. Through the internship program I have been able to gain an understanding of both day to day operations of an individual store and the big picture of division operations in the Delta office. Combining these two experiences
Interning at TSR I learned a lot in the fields of retail, business, and organization. Being a retail store, I learned a lot. I learned how to check products with their shipping slips
My experience in the University Dining Services at Cal Poly Pomona has greatly enhanced my career prospects. Originally, my choice to work on campus was made solely on my need for funds. I never expected to gain so much insight and networking connections out of my on campus job. I choose to work at Innovation Brew Works on campus this year because of the opportunity to work at a business that embodies a family friendly atmosphere and serves hand crafted food and beverages. Ever since I was a child, these characteristics in a business have been imperative to me.

The Club (1978), written by David Williamson, is a satirical play that follows the fortunes and misfortunes of a football club over the course of the season. David Williamson cleverly integrates the realistic portrayal of characters and dialogue into the play in order to effectively provide the reader with an insight into the power and politics of sport and the commoditisation of players. The main themes in The Club that David Williamson communicates across to the reader are power and the concept of ‘human loyalty verses materialistic gain’, which will be explained in further detail below.
The internship program at BMIHMS is particularly attractive to me, because areas such as hospitality require real world experience to truly learn the intricacies and complications of the field. This is essential for me as it's nearly impossible to enter the hospitality industry in Bangladesh unless one has a related degree or work experience in the same
Through travel and hospitality related experiences in my life I have created two major goals for my career. My first trip to Las Vegas was the time when my first major career goal was established. By walking through each hotel I could easily see that each place had a different style and way of operating. Observing these examples allowed me to determine which hotel/resort or company would be the best to work for. MGM’s Aria Resort and Casino has always stuck out to me as a well-running, high class establishment; the workers are professional, but friendly and the atmosphere is comforting while keeping up with the modern times. With this said, one of my goals is to be employed by the Aria. Although, knowing how competitive this industry can be, I would
The work that I do now is much more laid back and rewarding whereas the work I did at Eat N’ Park was stressful and too much to ask for considering the amount I was being paid. Not only am I making more money than I did when I worked at Eat N’ Park, I am having a much more pleasant experience. My hours are much more reasonable. When I was still in high school and even now, the management at Rizzo’s has been very respectful of my needs in regards to my hours and workweek. When I worked at Eat N’ Park, I was falling behind in my classes because of how much I was working. When I went to management with this concern, I was left with the choice to either deal with it or quit. The managers and owners at Rizzo’s are very good people, unlike those at Eat N’ Park. The managers at Eat N’ Park were completely unprofessional, unorganized and overall unpleasant individuals. I will continue working at Rizzo’s Malabar Inn until I graduate college and maybe even after I graduate on the weekends. I have so far had an amazing experience with the establishment and believe that I will continue to do
