Almost everyone around the world know of Apple iPhones and one of the most anticipated release of the company was last week. Apple, announced that they are releasing two new version of the iPhone (iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus) on September 12th, 2014 and was available in nine countries (U.S., UK, Germany, Canada, France, Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Japan) on September 19th, 2014. They estimate that by the end of this year the new iPhones will be available in 115 markets around the world. The prices of the iPhone 6 ranges from $199 (with contracts) to $ 849 (unlocked with maximized memory) and the prices of iPhone 6 Plus ranges from $299 (with contracts) to $ 949 (unlocked with maximized memory). These prices ranges is currently in the U.S. However, the prices change greatly in three countries where Apple decided that the phones are not available until later this year. For this media report assignment, I looked at three different new sources that talked about the outrageous prices of the iPhones (because of the name of the phone and the dying fans who wants to be the first to own one.) The three media sources that I choose were from ABC News, The Washington Post, and Tuoi Tre News. The ABC News talked about how much the iPhone 6 cost roughly $1,550 on an online store in Moscow and how the people there tend to lean towards the iPhone 6 plus even though it is more expensive. The Washington Post talked about the same thing as ABC News, however, this particular price is
Personally I feel that the IPhone is already over price as is. The fact that they make $321 of profit off each phone is ridiculous. If the phone is fully assembled in the
The iphone is such a popular phone to have . the demand for this product would be high when a new one comes out and the demand would be low when people stop buying the phones.
Edwards, J. (2015). The iPhone 6 Had Better Be Amazing And Cheap, Because Apple Is Losing The War To Android Read more: http://www.businessinsider.com/iphone-v-android-market-share-2014-5#ixzz3YoonFpp6. Retrieved from http://www.businessinsider.com/iphone-v-android-market-share-2014-5
Although, there has been a great euphoria over Apple's Iphone, I personally believe that it is quite exaggerated. For $599, it is an expensive phone and is tied to Cingular. As a subscriber of Sprint, and whose contract is about to expire, I see no reason in switching to Cingular to adopt Iphone when it arrives. I am quite a fan of latest gadgets - I bought Microsoft Zune the day it came out just to see how it works in comparison to Ipod. I am pretty sure that there will be numerous competitors to Apple who will deliver products just as good as Iphone, and and at a much cheaper price. More importantly, one that is not tied to a wireless provider. Apple is calling it simply an innovation in phones. I am not sure how it will stand against Sprint's Wimax (when
Over the mid-year, Apple was offering a little more than half of the worldwide premium cell phones, and Samsung was offering just shy of 25%. By December 2016, those figures had developed to 70% and 17%, separately” (Richardson, 2017).
We were all wondering when the new IPhone was going to be available. After seeing all of the commercials for Apple and hearing that there wasn’t going to be a headphone jack is what really had people raising their eyebrows. People were wanting a phone that had a longer battery life. It would also be nice to be waterproof and shatter proof. People tend to get tired of a product after a year or so and then want the new and next best thing. Apple knows this so they are constantly working on creating a new piece of technology or advancing one they already have. Apples products do not target one group of people. It targets everyone from children to the elderly.
Apple created more headline news by releasing the iPhone 5 on September 21, 2012. The iPhone 5 wows customers with its new sleek design, 8 mega pixel “iSight” camera, 4-inch Retina display and its ultra-processor. The iPhone 5 has an A6 chip that Apple says is powerful but not hungry. Apple claims its new product includes speed, durability, and extraordinary convenience for its consumers. Gizmo-Bird.com reported that the IPhone 5 sold 5 million unit sales in just 3 days. Every year or over a period of time its seems like apple reconstructs the iPhone forcing consumers to be in with the new and out with the old. It seems as though you can predict when
The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus are cell phones planned and showcased by Apple Inc. The gadgets are a piece of the iPhone arrangement and were disclosed on September 9, 2014 and discharged on September 19, 2014. The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus mutually serve as successors to the iPhone 5C and iPhone 5S. The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus incorporate various changes over its forerunner, incorporating models with bigger 4.7 and 5.5 inches (120 and 140 mm) shows, a quicker processor, redesigned cameras, enhanced LTE and Wi-Fi integration, and backing for a close field interchanges based portable installments
The price of any technical device is the first thing that pops up into the buyers' head. iPhone is the most well-known phones when it comes to smartphones, therefore the price might be a bit high but it is reasonable. For example, when buying your new phone the price is indicated by how much memory capacity do you need. You'll be making a smart choice because you're only going to spend money on what you'll be using in the long run According to Apple.com, the price varies from $649 and $234. Also, the iPhone comes with a protective screen if you add $49, so if you break it, which is most likely not gonna cause any damage, the price to fix it is cheaper than other brands. In addition, it is easier to sell iPhone because it is worth the price and you won't
Apple does a very good job of always seeming to create a demand for their newest product. They try to keep enough supply on hand so that the customer doesn’t have to wait a long time to get the new product. They have created a pattern of coming out with a new phone that people “need” every year. I believe the supply and demand are usually about 6/7 months before people tend to want to wait for the new phone. If the demand goes down and then the
On September 19th, 2014 Apple presented the biggest thing to happen to the iPhone since the first iPhone, the release of the iPhone 6. The iPhone 6 absolutely shines over all smartphones on the market. Apple is and has always been one step ahead of other leading cell phone brands like: Motorola, LG, and Blackberry. According to Statista, “The iPhone is the top-selling individual phone of any kind in the U.S., with sales of the brand reaching 500 million in March 2014 since it the first generation iPhone was released in June 2007” (Percentage). With this new useful and helpful piece of technology, life for its users is much easier. Also, with the long -lasting battery life, more creative technology, and a fresh, sleek look of the body, Apple has outdone themselves with the criteria of an outstanding smartphone. The iPhone 6 is very useful for its users and exemplifies all the basic criteria for an exceptional smart phone: long-lasting battery life, strong durability, and great visual display.
Apple lost valuable market share to Chinese manufacturers Huawei and Oppo, which saw promising increases in their shares year over year (9to5Mac, 2017). Currently, the iPhone market share is decreasing in China, the world 's second-largest economy after the U.S., which can be attributed to new manufacturers and iPhone users delaying upgrades (9to5Mac, 2017). While all products go through a product life cycle, Apple has already been through this cycle with at least two products (Forbes, 2016). Currently, Apple has no backup to replace its vanguard iPhone product. Adding to injury, the competing Huawei P9 phone compares well against the iPhone 7 and cost 30 percent cheaper than the iPhone (9to5Mac, 2017). In addition, cheaper android phones that offer everything the iPhone does and sometimes more at fraction of the price are also gaining market share rapidly (9to5Mac, 2017).
As primary research it has been found that, most of the customers are willing to buy the iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 plus due to its quality and brand image. As per quantitative research by taking sample of 400 customers in Melbourne is discussed below:
Over the course of three years, the most meaningful change to the iPhone has been the size of its screen. A phone with a bigger screen was all the consumer really wanted and if Apple wasn’t willing to provide them with that then Samsung would. After years of sticking with a 3.5-inch display and watching Android competitors slowly increase their screen size while also increasing their sales, Apple finally gave in to the obvious trend with the larger 4.7-inch iPhone 6 and huge 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus. However, as predicted, once Apple released their bigger screened iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, Samsung’s sales began to decrease. Now that Apple has an iPhone with a big screen and skyrocketing sales there appears to be no obvious reason to make it better, but just like every year as technology changes and improves there is always a demand on Apple to release their new upgraded phone, this year’s version being the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus.
