In life Humans must make decisions based on their beliefs of what is right and what is wrong. Continuously having to confront moral issues people must make decisions, but why should one decide in a particular way? In this paper, I will argue the most plausible reason to moral obligations of a person from self preservation to internalized developmental concepts by regarding the moral dilemma of Jill. Whether, a person makes moral decisions based off of a virtuous manner, to avoid punishment, or because it is a matter of behaving rationally by recognizing the differences between one's own interests and the interests of others are arbitrary from a moral point of view. Jill would not be punished for her actions because it is assumed she is clear from blame or connection to the crime. However, one could argue that Jill is seen, she is seen by a God who judges her actions and decides her fate after death based on her characters purity in life so she does not take the money for she is preserving her soul. Yet, this is affirming Jill has no intellectual developed morals, she is only acting from fear of punishment, then what if Jill has no reason to act in a virtuous manner? Kant suggests that religion and morals should not be intertwined and morals not be influenced by religion. One ought to not behave from fear of consequence but rather from understanding what is right and what is wrong from being a Human with an intellectual mind. Jill should not take the money because of this internalized moral code that stealing is wrong, whether it be to avoid the experience of guilt she might develop acting against her personal moral compass to understanding the harsh situation she might put others in if she carries out this misconduct.
