Over-Paid, Yet Under Rated
Growing up in America, many people are unaware of what is really occurring around them. People are so into their televisions, and their jobs that they fail to recognize the amount of work that is put into making this country as wonderful as it is. However, many people complain about the wages they receive hourly at work, or the salary they earn every month. Some complain that it is too low, and others complain about the taxes that are deducted, and how they do not have money to spend for occasions like Christmas, or even vacations. Then those same people sit at home, watch television, whether it is a basketball game, a game show, or even a soap opera, and complain about why those

Eventually he earned enough respect to make it with all the other famous rappers. It took many years of reading, to achieve his level of vocabulary, but he stuck through it, and eventually made it big. Many young people look up to Eminem because of the hardships he went through to make it big. He may not be teaching children how to add and subtract, or how to read and write, but instead he is teaching them a lesson they can use in life. The lesson he is teaching them is that no matter how hard ones life can be they must find something they enjoy and pursue it until they can make something of their lives. “Eminem landed at Number Five with estimated net earnings of $28.9 million. The rapper's earnings came from touring, his highly successful The Eminem Show album, his Shady Records label--which released the quadruple-platinum 8 Mile soundtrack--and the $3 million he earned for starring in 8 Mile” (Salomon). Many people went out and purchased his album, tickets to see the movie, or even tickets to one of his shows while he was on tour. Eminem did not save lives or teach children how to do math, to earn the money. Instead, those people who complain about people in Eminem’s status having too much money chose to spend it on watching the movie, or purchasing the album. Eminem certainly cannot be blamed because of all the fans he has. Eminem did not wake up one
Many Americans feel that they must always take rather than give to this country. They abuse our laws and all they care about is what they are entitled to. Also, money has become the main focus of our society today. Whatever financial position we are in, we always desire more money, a better car, or any other sign showing financial superiority. Americans today focus more on how large their sums of money are in relation making enough money to support a family. Clean water and an abundance of food may be scarce in some third-world countries, but here in America it is not and also another privilege being abused. Approximately one out of every three Americans is overweight or obese. In other words, we are pretty much the fattest country around. One might inquire ?Should we be proud to be an American?? Though we aren?t
We, in general, live in a wealthy country. With its wealth, the government pays for many things for their citizens. Whether we’re a man or woman, young or old, rich or poor, we’re given most of the same opportunities because of our government. In America, the poor can still go to school and get an education, receive insurance or other medical care, obtain social security, food stamps, and more. The government helps everyone in need of aid, which makes our country very unique. This uniqueness is especially what makes me proud of being an American. Our country helps those who can’t help themselves, which also makes our country thrive.
Eminem got himself into a show at the Olympics, this is where he got scouted by Dre, Dre got him signed and helped him to make the success of his life. This had an impact on him because he is finally living his dream; the good has finally come out of all the bad things and the struggle that he has been through. He can now afford to provide for him, his mum and his daughter. He must have had enough of providing for his mum and he left
Well I want you to think back to Halloween time. A large fake golden coin is often given out. But as those of you who remember know if actually candy when the shiny and luxurious wrapper is removed. This nation is presented as something glorious. It is put on a pedestal and we are told to look up to it. From the inside out we see all the problems are great big nation has and securitize it most of the time. Well until July 4th comes around and everyone start acting different for 24 hours. We the nation, are the chocolate inside that sees past the cheap yellow foil and high and mighty façade. From the outside looking in there is a different outlook. Immigrants see the televised American dream and do not realize how hard it is to achieve that, and I am using hard as understatement. The golden exterior attracts but the nasty chocolate inside is what awaits after you get past the
The United States of America has been known to be the land of opportunities for centuries; however, times have changed. While some can find great success in America, these are the lucky few, others have to face the struggles of the everyday living in the United States. There are multiple issues with the overall United states, such as the government, welfare programs, and the American economy; there are also problems with the people who live in the United States. The lifestyle of some Americans is also a large problem. People in the United States are very self centered as a whole, especially the upper class and upper middle class of Americans. Without change, little can be done to help American grow and prosper to become a great nation. The
The United States has been widely accepted as a country where anyone can come and make him or herself into something out of nothing. It is the self-proclaimed “land of the free and home of the brave”. While all these glorious statements about America were once true, sadly now they are false. Every year our International upward-mobility ranking regresses, meaning it is becoming harder and harder for Americans to move up the financial ladder. But how is it that a country that has the largest GDP can be outside the top 10 in upward-mobility? Why is it that the most powerful and wealthy country in the world doesn’t have free/universal healthcare? How is it that while other nations have begun promoting free college tuition we have refused to do so? This is because the United States does not have a welfare state like the Scandinavian countries do. The United States isn’t a welfare state because Americans have an irrational fear of becoming “socialist”. Ever since the Cold War Americans have had a baseless fear of anything that resembles socialism, claiming it is anti-American. Some of the people who live in constant terror of a socialist America are our right-winged conservatives who have went out of their way to make sure there is minimal government intervention in all aspects of our lives. This should be a good thing, right? The fact that the government doesn’t intervene in the affairs of its individual
28 percent of American workers in 2011 earned poverty-level wages. That is, three years ago more than one in four workers in our country were not able to stave off poverty despite their active employment, according to the Economic Policy Institute, and that number has only increased since then. In absolute terms, this translates to millions of employed Americans still falling below the US Census’s poverty level, according to Legal Director of the Center for Constitutional Rights, Bill Quigley. These workers toil long hours at jobs that are challenging both physically and mentally. And to add insult to injury, they are faced with social stigma on account of their status as low-paid

Have you ever wondered what influences us to behave the way we do? Look a certain way? Or even looked for an explanation to what causes us to apply a certain perspective regarding personal and controversial issues? One of the answers to these questions may revolve around the influence we absorb from celebrities. A definitive term for celebrity is an iconic figure to a category or group who has achieved success in one or multiple aspects of their lives. As a result, these individuals have drawn in publicity and fame. Over the years with the advances in media and other forms of communication, celebrities have become topics of discussion worldwide, rather if it’s at school, with colleagues or at the dinner table, it is fair to say that
Every American dreams of finding a job that pays well enough so that they may comfortably take care of their loved ones and themselves for years to come. Most Americans hope to find some way to make a living that they enjoy, something that they view as productive. Unfortunately, many do not have this luxury. In our society, a good portion of the population is forced to hold the base of our country in place while hardly being redeemed for their time and effort, and thus the problem of income inequality. Numbers of these people live from paycheck to paycheck, barely getting by, not because they manage their money poorly, but because the value of their time at work is negligible.
The release of The Slim Shady LP was the beginning of Eminem’s ride to the hip-hop hall of fame and it was with this album that Eminem was truly

Are America's CEOs paid more than they deserve? Many people's answer is a vehement: Yes. That view is reinforced anew every spring, when companies file their financial statements and we learn how much CEOs were paid last year.
