ISIS and the Middle East SSG Baggs, Angelo 13D Advanced Leader Course ISIS and the Middle East The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, or ISIS, is a militant group whose ultimate goal is to establish an Islamic State to govern and control much of the Islamic Middle East. This goal is not necessarily sinister in its general meaning. However, the means of going about establishing this Islamic State should be the cause of concern to the entire world. The culture within the region is one of pride for those who truly believe that what they are doing is just. Those who are not radicalized constantly live in fear or being persecuted or enslaved and tortured by ISIS. The people of Iraq and Syria are almost all Muslims. At the time, the United States believed that the ISI was not a real or legitimate and autonomously functioning group. The United States thought that Abu Omar al-Baghdadi was merely a face used to legitimize the ISI and that the ISI was a cover for the more notorious group, Al Qaeda. In April of 2007, the ISI declared a Cabinet of Ministers to serve under Abu Omar al-Baghdadi. Of the 10 ministers in the Cabinet, there are three notable names. Those names are Abdullah al-Janabi, who served as the Minister of Security, Abu Ayyub al-Masri, who served as the Minister of War, and Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, who would eventually become the new leader of the ISI. Abdullah al-Janabi is currently wanted by the Iraqi Criminal Court. He is believed to be hiding in the Fallujah. Abu Ayyub al-Masri was wanted by Iraq and United States authorities since governments until his death in April of 2010. He was replaced by Abu Suleiman …show more content…
In other words, this means that small military style cells or groups are scattered throughout their respective area of operations focused on their own individual tasks. Meanwhile, most cells do not know what the neighboring cell is doing. Their physical environments varied. Some cells conduct operations in desert areas within the Middle East. On the other hand, there are other some cells that conduct operations in booming cities. These cells, in my opinion, are the hardest to fight. The cell’s operatives blend in with the general population and often don’t seem suspicious. All things considered, you can’t just check every person that you think is
In each requirement they are provoked in some way, that's not it though they also have ways for conducting war. They believe that it should be handled in a disciplined way so they don't injure non combatants with minimal amounts of force, then treating prisoners of war without anger and as humane as the can. This I just evidence of how peaceful this culture is and how their views and beliefs are the polar opposite of what ISIS feels is justified. Just because they are relatively close in in likeness and lived in similar circumstances they've been nurtured in totally different ways, children of ISIS grew up learning and believing that it takes force to spread the word of their god. In their eyes anyone who doesn't believe in their god are heathens and sinners. The things that we do, the things we eat, and make, even the things we say. These people's traditions and culture contradicts the American way of life, free will, free expression of feeling and both men and women can have the same job, women can even be the main source of income for their families. There's also the fact people in America are wasteful and are sluggish people in there
ISIS is a Sunni militant group seeking to create its own state, governed by their interpretation of the Laws of the Quran, and to destroy all other branches of Islam as well as convert or destroy all non-Muslims.
operation of hijacking two aircrafts and flying them into the Twin Towers in the heart of Manhattan. Another Muslim who has influenced the terrorist organization of Isis is Abu Bakr al- Baghdadi, whose real name is Ibrahim al- Badri. Baghdadi was credited with creating the Sunni Army, recruiting men to becoming members of Isis, and known as a “highly organized and ruthless battlefield tactician” (BBC News 2015). Also, Abu Musab Al-Zarqawi was one of Baghdadi’s forerunner’s, and influenced one of the most violent jihadist groups in Iraq until he was killed in 2006 by an American air raid. He was one of the world 's most wanted men and had a huge impact on the extent of violence Isis would eventually start to use. It’s hard to say who is in charge of Isis because there are multiple Muslim men who have the intelligence and rankings to assemble the organization.
Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), which controls territory mainly in Iraq and Syria, was formed in April 2013, it was grown out of al Qaeda. The main ideology behind the organisation is based on Islamism, Salafism and Salafi Jihadism. ISIS was originally founded by Abu Musab al Zarqawi in Iraq. Before ISIL was established, Zarqawi has set up an al Qaeda franchise in Iraq during the occupation of country by the Americans. Later, however, Zarqawi became so extreme, his brutal actions in Iraq offended the jihadists, and led to al Qaeda disavowing him.
How could a group of “religious people” be so brutal and unfair? ISIS is a group of military Islam’s or as some people say, terrorists. It seems to me as if they want more power than they actually need. Although, they have the most power as a group of terrorists, they continue to want more and more. Everyone wants the best of both worlds but we can’t always have that, especially from the ISIS point of view. You’ll realize this and how ISIS thinks they can and what they will do to get it.
Videos shown from ISIS show a more religious/militant side. They show how religious their fighters are, and how peaceful it is away from the war scene. The other side shows fighters get frontline action when joining ISIS. This draws in people from around the world to join this terror organization, and leave their families behind. Most people that join ISIS seeking frontline combat, quickly realize it is all it seems to be. Most are used as servants/slaves.
The Islamic state of Iraq and Syria or Isis for short is a radical jihadist group from the middle east. The goal of this group is to convert everyone to an extreme version of Sunni Islam, whether the person wants to or not. Anyone who doesn’t convert
ISIS or Islamic State is a militant movement that has conquered territory in western Iraq and eastern Syria. In June 2014, they seized territories in Iraq’s Sunni heartland, including Mosul and Tikrit. The Islamic State proclaimed itself a caliphate, claiming exclusive political, and theological authority over the world’s Muslims. Its state-building project, however, has been
Terrorists groups like ISIS are making it harder for the Muslims to live peacefully. These people who consider themselves are manipulating the main message of Islam about peace and reconciliation. They are tarnishing the good Muslims who are actually following the real Islamic values. Queen Rania of Jordan, one of the most influential women in the Arab world, is against ISIS. She is a representative of the Muslim community that believes that Islam is about peace and groups like ISIS are not Muslims. In her exclusive interview with MailOnline of Jordan, she said, “It is nothing to do with religion. It's the antithesis of religion. Groups like ISIS are not motivated by faith; they are driven by materialistic gains – by greed, by power, and by the search for influence. ” ISIS is using
Their leader Baghdadi has aided ISIS in gaining prominence, with their control of parts of Iraq and Syria. The goal of this extremist group is that “ Muslims across the world swear allegiance to its leader - Ibrahim Awad Ibrahim al-Badri al-Samarrai, better known as Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi - and migrate to territory under its control” (BBC). They also believe in Sharia Law and they also emphasize an apoplectic stage and literalist translations of the Quran. ISIS also attempts to eradicate infidel’s public execution, crucifixion, apostates, and anyone against their rulings, they believe in religious and ethnic cleansing. Wood from the The Atlantic said “The Islamic State has its share of worldly concerns (including, in the places it controls, collecting garbage and keeping the water running), but the End of Days is a leitmotif of its propaganda” (Wood). ISIS is also using modern tool like social media to recite members. According to the New York Post, “ Facebook, Google and Twitter are stepping up efforts to combat online propaganda and recruiting by Islamic militants, but the Internet companies are doing it quietly”
The Islamic militant group ISIS, also known as the “Islamic State of Iraq” has grown rapidly over the past decade. ISIS is a terrorist group that was formed as a small group in Iraq in 2006 by Abu Musab al-Zarqawi. In 2009 ISIS shifted its focus from Iraq to the civil war in Syria. He started the group to focus based not just on fighting the Syrian government but to rather fight the people that rebel their ideas. Today ISIS is a group of an estimated 200,000 ruthless killers on a mission to wipe out anyone and everyone from any religion or belief system and to impose Shari’ah law. ISIS has executed more than 10,000 people, including women and children, in Iraq and Syria since 2014. According to the Iraqi Observatory for Human Rights (IOHR), “the soldiers and civilians who have been beheaded, shot dead, blown up, stoned to death and thrown off buildings for violating ISIS’s twisted laws all contributed to this mammoth death toll.” ISIS has
Baghdadi has his own cabinet of advisers, plus the Shura Council. The Shura Council is responsible for making sure ISIS’ actions all align with their original beliefs. Theoretically, the Shura council can overthrow Baghdadi (the Caliph); however, as they are all appointed by the Caliph they are unlikely to. Below the Caliph is the executive branch (Al Imara) and two deputies—one in Syria and one in Iraq. Beneath the deputies are 24 governors—twelve in Syria, and twelve in Iraq. Each governor is responsible for their own subset of leaders positioned by area. In addition to the hierarchy imposed, ISIS also has several councils to guide and make executive decisions. Such councils include departments in financial, leadership, legal, military, security, intelligence, media, and more. ISIS’ intricate bureaucracy is quickly resembling a modern government—ironically, even the ones they so despise. ISIS is a very dangerous terrorist group changing peoples lives all around the world. They kidnap people from different countries and threaten countries for money and weponds. ISIS gets most of there money from theft by robbing banks and selling oil. They get most of there equipment from the U.S. by stealing them. ISIS is not a state but they have there own flag and have claimed land on the Syria and Iraq border. ISIS is one of the biggest terrorist groups in the world because of the Syrian war and the weak government combination. That is why ISIS is the most well-funded terrorist group in the world and why they are so dangerous and
Many of the member who currently serve in Al-Shabaab have fought in Afghanistan. The chain of command for al-Shabaab is flexible allowing them to adjust to change in a quick and effective manner. The organization has multiple cells, units, divisions and figures with diverse powers, nonetheless, that do not mean al-Shabaab are not politically organized. In fact, in terms of hierarchical structure of its leadership al-Shabaab is well organized with independent components.
“The Islamic state is a transnational Sunni Islamist insurgent and terrorist group that has expanded its control over areas of Iraq and Syria since 2013”(source 1). The Islamic state also called Isis is a group of religious extremists. They first took over Syria and now they have taken over Iraq. “ISIS took advantage of weaknesses created by civil war in Syria and governing incompetence in Iraq to grab control of lands and establish itself as a credible force.”(Einchenwaldt). They claim that people who live there have freedom of religion, as along ass they don’t oppose them. There actions show otherwise proving that with them around there is no freedom. “ISIS is a collection of barbaric psychopaths willing to engage in the
