Positivity Is Embraced; Negativity Is Illegal It’s easy to tell someone to never give up, but sometimes, it can be more effective when it’s visually shown. Directed by James David Gore, Never Give Up is an award winning, motivational short film, depicting the journey through life struggles. The story begins with the man getting out of bed, and immediately getting into a wheelchair. It seems as though he’s alone, so nobody is able to help him. When he looks outside, his eyes are filled with reflective tears washing down his face, and yet the audience doesn’t know why. Could he be thinking about what caused him to end up in a wheelchair? He goes from being in the bathroom and quickly opening his eyes, to sitting on his bedroom floor and attempting to move his toes, and finally, to appearing back in the room with the two bars on either side of him. What happens next allows viewers to become inspired by his actions. The protagonist slowly starts to walk down the line, supporting himself with the bars. The next shot is of him using forearm crutches to expand the flexibility in his legs, and to get an idea of what it feels like to walk freely. The shot then transitions to a future moment in his life, when he is able to walk without any support whatsoever. He is finally able to take a late night walk, feeling liberated and accomplished. The short film ends with the man standing at a track. He is slightly bent forward and pauses for a moment, before beginning to jog around the perimeter of the track. Tears no longer appear on his face, but, rather a smile. His journey is complete, and he was able to do something that he never thought was

When Andrew leaves the car, he slams the door, showing his pent-up anger and defiance. Later on, in the movie, Andre confesses his regret for hurting another student. The camera focuses on him at eye level and moves around him, letting the audience feel present in that moment. There is also a calm and sad tune playing as Andrew struggles to hold back the tears, his voice is quiet and very emotional. The other students all focused their attention to him, in silence and disbelief.
