Would the world be different if Joan of Arc hadn't united France? Joan of Arc was a peasant girl who lived in France. The people of France called her Maid of Orléans. She is still known as one of France's greatest Saints for her many accomplishments. Joan of Arc has lead France to many great victories, but her greatest accomplishment was uniting France. Being a woman these accomplishments were hard for her because she had little support and no military training to be prepared for these battles. The low support she had did not stop her, however she was confident she could come out with a victory. She had many struggles along the way, and lost many battles, but she became one of France's greatest Saints. Joan of Arc was the daughter of a

This is definitely wrong as Joan of Arc was an enormous role model to the whole of France itself. She became the patron saint of France and the french people look up to her as a hero. She is someone that they’re proud to have and be a part of their country. Her example showed the French that anything was possible as she reversed a war between England and France in which France were losing in. Others may say that she didn’t achieve that much at all but what she achieved in a few years, we could probably only achieve in a lifetime. At the age of 17 she became the leader of an army and defeated England in a war that the French was sure to have lost. Joan of Arc was a hero, saint and role model to people everywhere and she
Joan of Arc was just a girl until she put on the helmet and hoisted the sword that changed the course of her life. Joan was a soldier for France during the Hundred Years War. Not only was she a woman on the battlefield, but she led an army at the age of 16. Both her effort in the battles and her trial majorly changed the outcome of the war. Joan of Arc changed society and continues to influence history today through her poor upbringing and dedicated early life, her heroics and bravery in battle, her courage and defiance during her trial, and her role and influence as a Catholic saint.
Joan of Arc is a prominent figure in European history, however, most of the history surrounding the maid of Orleans "La Pucelle d'Orléans" (Lanhers and Vale, 2016), is generally focused on debunking her claims of being sent by God, and the possible reasons for her hearing voices. This essay will focus less on the legitimacy of her claims of being a prophet of God, and instead will focus on the effect they had, along with her abilities as a commander to achieving victory in the Loire campaign. It will focus on the importance of her first military victory, lifting the siege of Orleans before the start of the Loire campaign, and how its effect on the morale of

Joan’s actions were so important because she was a real inspiration to the
The effect of Joan of Arc can be best understood and explained by looking at some of the events surrounding her birth and childhood. She was born in the later half of the Hundred Years’ War. The war was between France and England, which began over the land and control of Aquitaine, located in the southern part of France. Both countries had made legitimate claims of the land, but the dispute was unresolved and war was declared. The war was mainly fought in France and by 1429, England had gained a great portion of France. Joan also entered the world at a time that there was a lot of turmoil not only in her country but also within the church. At this time the Christian theology was not catering enough to the nobility or
Joan of Arc was born into a country in political chaos. In 1415, King Henry V of England invaded northern France. The English were defeated by France and gained help from the Burgundians in France. In 1420 the Treaty of Troyes granted Henry V to the French throne, taking control from the demented King Charles VI. After Charles’ death Henry would inherit his throne. However, this plan didn’t work because Henry and Charles died within a couple of months of each other. This left Henry’s infant son to inherit both realms. French supporters of the soon to be Charles VII sensed an opportunity to return the crown to a French monarch instead of the English
Joan of Arc was born in XXXX in the French town of Domrémy. Her family was well-off farmers. From a young age, Joan was a devout Christian. At the age of 13, Joan reported she received her divine mission where she saw a bright light and heard the voice of God commanding her she would lift the siege of Orleans and she must go to Robert de Baudricourt for an escort. She claimed to be visited by Saint Michael, Saint Catherine, and Saint Margaret, who gave her advice on how to proceed in her divine mission. Around the time of her birth, France was in despair. Before Joan of Arc’s campaign, the French had lost several major battles to the English including the annihilation of the French army at Agincourt with a loss of 10,000 French soldiers. France had also been devastated by the Black plague from 1348 to 1349 resulting in the halt of the war for nearly a decade and a significantly reduced army. After multiple losses, morale was low and
She was later taken captive and burned alive for heresy. However, as she expected seven years after her death, France was reunited since the English were conquered and Charles was anointed the new king. She had saved France from defeat against England. In honour of her triumph, she is often called the Maid of Orleans. Joan of Arc has changed the world even though she had nothing to begin with she never gave up and fought to the max to do what was right for
While speaking with reporters today, Hillary Clinton mentioned that her favorite historical woman was Joan of Arc. Joan of Arc was burned at the stake on May 30, 1431 in France after being found guilty of trumped up charges by the English. Twenty-five years after her execution, an inquisitorial court authorized by Pope Callixtus III examined the trial, debunked the charges against her, pronounced her innocent, and declared her a martyr. On May 16, 1920 Pope Benedict XV canonized her a Saint of the Roman Catholic Church. Mrs. Clinton went on to say that her life has pretty much paralleled Joan of Arc's.
Joan of Arc once said, “I am not, may God put me there; and if I am, may God so keep me”. When Joan was only thirteen years old she heard the voice of God. She also had various visions that powered her to lead an army that would give France victory over England in the “Hundreds’ year war”. She was named a roman catholic saint almost 500 years after leading her army into battle. Some may say that Joan of Arc does not get as much recognition as what she deserves.

Imagine living in a male dominated world -- it was the man’s job to go to war and fight for their kingdom -- whereas females were looked at as the inferior sex. In that time period a woman’s role was to solely stay home, bare children, and take care of the household. Flipping the switch Jeanne d’Arc did what no woman would dare to do in the early 1400’s. Joan of Arc has become one of the most respected individuals of the history of Europe. She is a national heroine from France who has become recognized because of her heroic achievements through her actions during wartime, faith and spirit, and her incredible influence on the men of that era.
