The narrative of the resurrection starts in the garden as we see on John 18:1, this is the second major event that took place in the garden, also in (Gen 3). Mary was excited about what she had experience at the tomb, you could hear it in her voice and she was speaking to the other disciple. She stated that she personally witness seeing the risen Lord, and telling them of things that the Lord spoke to her. The reason Mary remained at the tomb was out of respect and love for the Lord. Because the Lord has been risen, this gives all Christians believing the clear path to the Father through the Son.
The resurrection of Jesus himself is a concept that is hard to believe. How can a man come back to life, and why is this the first time this has happened? Jesus was not written about till after his death. The gospels were told by Jesus’ apostles and their recollection of Jesus and his teachings. The Council of Nicaea were Christian theologians who decided which stories about Jesus to include in the Bible. The Council of Nicaea left out the Gnostic gospels “hidden knowledge” which talked about Jesus’s early childhood. Why should we believe the council when they left out the parts of Jesus’ life they did not agree with.“Even those whose hearts were inclined to accept the new faith required some intellectual satisfaction before they were willing to commit: How can God be three separate beings- God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit- and one indivisible being at the same time? If Jesus is “coeternal” with God, why is there no mention of him in the two thousand-year tradition of Hebrew writings? If Jesus is the divine Son of God, how could he experience such human emotions as temptation, fear, and loneliness?” 1 (pg. 229)
“Then the noble protector of all seamen swam to land, rejoicing in the heavy burdens he was bringing with him. He and all his glorious band of Geats thanked God that their leader had come back unharmed; they left the lake together.” (Raffel 37). After a long battle, Grendel rises from the water. Clean from the blood and leaving the lake peaceful, he returns home. Very similar, Jesus overcame and rose from the tomb. “"Do not be afraid; for I know that you are looking for Jesus who has been crucified. 6"He is not here, for He has risen, just as He said. Come, see the place where He was lying. 7"Go quickly and tell His disciples that He has risen from the dead; and behold, He is going ahead of you into Galilee, there you will see Him; behold, I have told you.” (Mathew 28:6). After all of the suffering that Jesus went through. He has finally overcome and risen from the
Only a few explanations can explain the empty tomb: A stolen body, an earthquake, or the actual resurrection. Some believe that the disciples stole the body of Jesus. This is recorded in the book a Matthew. A claim that the Jews made in an attempt to explain the resurrection. If this were true there entire faith would have been a lie. All of Jesus Disciples died for what they believed in which includes the resurrection. This would mean that the disciples died for something they made up In Matthew 28:2 there is a recording of an earthquake when an angel of the Lord roll away the stone from the entrance of the tomb. Some will argue that the earthquake buried the body of Jesus under the rubble, thus having an appearance of an empty tomb. This claim does not explain Jesus appearing to Mary right after this event. Also, if the body of Jesus was just buried under rubble it could still be available for examination. After exulting
In the Gospel of John 18-33B-37 Pilot and Jesus are having a conversation. Pilot asks Jesus if he is the King of the Jews. Jesus asks Pilot in return if he asked that question because he thought Jesus was the King of the Jews, or because he was told that. Pilot responds to Jesus and said that he was not a Jew and it was his own people who turned in. Pilot then asks Jesus what he has done to make them turn him in. Jesus answers and tells Pilot that his kingdom does not belong to the people of this world. He continues saying that if it did the people would be defending him instead of turning him in as they had done. Pilot asked Jesus for the second time if he was the King of the Jews. This time
So, let’s look at the evidence, one of the strongest proofs for the resurrection is the empty tomb. Some think the body was stolen or that the women were at the wrong tomb, but if you think about it the apostles were too scared to take on the roman guards and there was really no motive outside of the apostles to seal the body. The women where there at the tomb earlier and seen exactly where Jesus was laid besides the tomb was sealed with guards outside of it. If someone had stolen the body, then why was his burial cloths neatly folded inside and there were no signs of a body being removed.
John’s gospel reveals many things about the Son, the Father, and the church. In chapter 17 of his gospel, it directly portrays the similarity of the son to the father and how the son is one with the father. John’s gospel states that the son is one with the father and the father is one with the son. This shows the close relationship between the two, and there is not much room for contradictory statements on whether or not the father sent the son to earth. Also, Jesus, the son, reveals many things about the church and its unity.
In the Gospel of John 4:5-42 Jesus was walking through Samaria and when he became tired he stopped at a well. A woman came to the well and Jesus asked her for a drink. She responded how can a Jew ask a Samaritan for a drink. Jesus then begins telling the woman of living water and tells her to go get her husband and to return but the woman says she does not have a husband. Jesus says to her the she has five and the woman recognized him as a prophet because Jesus knew everything about her.. Then came the disciples and were shocked to see that Jesus was talking to the Samaritan woman. When the woman left the well she left her jar behind and began to tell of her encounter. When people heard her story they
The objective of this assignment is to give a perspective of Jesus’ reaction found in John 11:1-37. In John 1-20 we learn that John was sent from God to be a witness to testify to the light, so everyone can believe through him. We then find out that there was a wedding in which Mary was invite and Jesus went with his disciples and give instructions to the waiters. Jesus then tells them to follow him and talks to them about not committing sin. Later Jesus looks up to the sky and talks to God because he knows he is going to die, but he wants his disciples to be protected. Jesus was then taken by pilate and was flogged, then Jesus gets taken and gets beaten, then crucified. Mary then goes to visit Jesus tomb three days later, sees the moved stone and goes to call pete along with the disciples, but he has risen.
Borchert, G. L. is an Evangelic scholar. This resource is a well-rounded commentary that examines not only the grammar and syntax of John’s Gospel; looking at each verse, but it also examines the themes found in that text. Discussing aspects of John 13 the author says, “This chapter, which introduces the Farewell Cycle, is one of the masterpieces of Christian literature that sears itself on the mind of anyone who has heard or read it. Indeed, the foot-washing scene is a classic turnabout that is made increasingly more vivid by contrasts with the human miscues of the well-meaning Peter.” Because this work is well written and easy to follow it will be useful in research relating to leadership because it helps one understand the text of John 13:1-20
In John 20 verses 6-8 says, "Then Simon Peter came, following him, and went into the tomb. He saw the linen cloths lying there, and the face cloth, which had been on Jesus' head, not lying with the linen cloths but folded up in a place by itself. Then the other disciple, who had reached the tomb first, also went in, and he saw and believed." From this point, the two disciples went back to their home and to be with the other disciples. A little while later Jesus appeared to the disciples and said, "peace be with you" (John 20:19). Thomas was one of the disciples and he was not with the others. When the other disciples told Thomas that they had seen Jesus, he was in disbelief. Thomas insisted that he had to see the hands and feet of Jesus
Romans 6:1-7 is a part of the Epistles. Romans is an Epistle written by Paul, mainly for the purpose of instructing the body of Christ on how to live. The Epistles are meant to instruct the Church on the theme of living in community together as believers. Paul also illustrates what it looks like to live as the body of Christ. The Epistles also provide encouragement and examples on how to live a life for Christ. Making choices according to the obedience of Jesus Christ is also an important aspect for believers to practice.
“Then I went down to the potter’s house, and there he was, making something on the wheel. Then I went down to the potter’s house, and there he was, making something on the wheel. Then the word of the LORD came to me saying” Jeremiah 18:3-5 (NAB). It is that thing inside of all of us, it’s the distrust the anger and the habitual habits that have formed us. All of us are less than perfect, and we know it. Probably most of us have things in our personality we've tried to change but have been unsuccessful. We may ignore it, mellowed slightly or made some adjustment, but in other areas we just don't seem to win. Like troubled individuals waiting for a response to our change. While Jeremiah looks upon the potter's work God darts into his mind with
