As we slowly walked into the cold hallway on the third floor, I asked Daniel a few questions just for us to get acquainted. See, when we were supposed to meet our senior buddies, Daniel was attending a PATHS photography class, meaning that this was the first time we had met. I asked him about his freshman year as we looked for a place to sit down, and he told me he had actually transferred to Casco Bay from Deering in his Junior year. Suddenly I remembered my mom, a social worker at Deering, mention something about a former Deering student who was currently a senior at Casco Bay named Daniel. I asked him if he had known my mom and he told me that he did, and that it was funny how things happen. We started warming up to each other well …show more content…
He got to go to Detroit, and meet young African Americans in a school as well. "You don't want to leave," he told me with a look of nostalgia on his face. A moment that was meaningful to Daniel, was the last day of Junior Journey. They did an activity that really touched him called a "gratefulness circle" where you tell other people what you are grateful for. "I don't care what people say, you are going to cry," he said as he looked over to me. He told me about how it was a very meaningful moment, and that he didn't cry in the circle but when he got back to the hotel room he did. His whole crew came and comforted him, and it was a "really great moment." Daniel also participated in the school musical, the ultimate frisbee team, and one act plays. His favorite class was Ms Doane's because, "She's strict, and doesn't play around. That's why its a good class. You get a lot of information thrown at you in a fun way." Daniel's switch to Casco Bay was, "one of the best choices I've ever made." He told me that Casco Bay is more focused on bonding and academics, where Deering makes you focus more on the social aspect of school. Senior Quest was a big bonding moment for Daniel when his crew kayaked to Jewell Island. He told me that a few key aspects of the Casco Bay community was to be kind to others, and to be able to step out of your
I cant believe that I am finally a senior in high school it seems just like yesterday I was beginning high school. As I begin my final year I am beginning to realize that this year I will be faced with many responsibilities and will make tons of memories. But I hope that I am able to make my senior year the best yet. Through this final year I hope to have passing grades in all of my classes, to win pep rallies, and to have perfect attendance.
I think I should be in the Junior Honor Society. I have met the requirements to receive this opportunity. I would not let this opportunity to waste. I care for the community and do what ever service to help it out. I help do services for the library when they need it. For example on March 10,2017, I helped make capes for sick kids and then gave them happy birthday cards for the birthday kids. I help out my community by helping people shovel their driveway. Like some of my neighbors can't do it so I ask if I can do it for them for free. I look out for people to make sure they are ok. I am a captain of a football team because of my great leadership skills that can be useful. I put effort and time into my work. Around the house I am a role model
Freshman 101 is a class adapted from the parrot program (Fay & Medway, 2006, p. 226). The parrot program was designed for college students at Cornell University. Freshman 101 is the first of its kind in the state of South Carolina and the first to extend Parrot’s college program to high school freshmen (p. 226). Each two-hour intervention class contained 25 to 30 freshmen students. The objectives of the class were to have participants understand the definition of acquaintance rape and the frequency that it takes place along with South Carolina’s laws regarding rape (p. 226). Students also learned about mixed messages associated with verbal and non-verbal communication and how to clearly state their wants and desires (p. 227). Communication,
Your senior year was a wild, crazy mess. You started off the year not wanting to go to school to see Karson because you couldn’t handle it. You even left school some days when he would show up. You let your dumb self try again with Karson and it failed. You got hurt, and even cried.... A lot. You meet the love of your life, Kyle, and still talk to him even though you guys aren’t together right now. You both hope to reconnect after you finish your second year of college. Keep talking to him, don’t let him get away from you. You have had it tough this year, but by the end of the year you didn’t let anything affect you. Your grades were A’s and B’s all year. You made some amazing new friends like, Chandler, Clayton Ecker, Collin and more boys
Coming from being a junior in high school to now being a senior. Senior in high school is going to be one of the most favorite and scariest parts of my life. Everyone says that it is one of the biggest part of your life. They say senior year will be one of my favorite memories. My expectations for high school amounts to worrying about deadlines for my high school projects, everyone asking about where I will be attending college, and trying to figure out what I am going to do with the rest of my life.
Sophomore year had ended, and my summer had just begun. After a long wait to gain permission to go on a backpacking trip. My father gave me the approval. I took my love for the outdoors and began to explore it even more.
Daniel is a very awesome individual who is to get along with. He is a hard worker, thoughtful as well as generous and respectful with everyone.
If someone ask me what is my favorite memories in high school for now. I’ll says that is my sophomore year. Because sophomore year is the year that changed my mind and my life, the year that I meet my awesome friend and everyone look at me a different way and here is what happened to my sophomore year.
Daniel is one of the most respectful and humble kids I have had the opportunity to be around. In the classroom, he did all of his work well and on time. On the football field, Daniel was one of the hardest workers. Other players gravitated to him because of his work ethic and humble attitude. He was asked to play several different positions at different points of his playing
Sophomore year in general has been treacherous . Now it's become harder trying to manage work while studying for finals, Eoc and keeping up with work. Nowadays, I find myself wishing to be back in elementary school. A memory that has been engraved to the deepest part of my brain is one of my teachers telling me of the importance of flushing and cleaning up after the mess that I create. I can’t believe that I once thought that elementary school was difficult. Let’s ignore the fact that my English wasn’t that good in elementary school, now that I’m actually reflecting on the time that I spent in elementary school, I can truly see how simple everything was. For example, I had to write my weekly vocabulary words thrice. But, this is the real world. We aren’t given the chance to go back in time just because we wish to relive certain periods of our lives.
“Since 9/11, (America’s airport security has) largely been a line of defense ahead of a departure gate to keep dangerous people and dangerous materials off a plane. By Bin Laden’s calculations, its cost $56 billion since 9/11. In one sense, it is worked as planned: No planes have been blown up or hijacked for a decade” (Airport Security Statistics). This quote explains that since 9/11 the airport security’s line of defense has been successful so far in keeping the people and the dangerous materials off the planes. While there are people who think that airport security is too strict, there are others who think that it is just fine the way it is right now. “They check every
That makes it hard to breathe. That summer, the instructors and the upperclassmen put the cadets through physical tests that test their problem solving and leadership skills. His first ride in a military jet was during his freshman year. He flew in a Lockheed T-33 (109-115). The summer before his sophomore year, he went through survival training. It was called SERE training, which stood for “survival, evasion, resistance, and escape.” It was designed to teach them skills if they were captured, how to not be captured, and just basic survival skills. By sophomore year, Sully realized how all of the skills he had learned helped him mature. His sophomore year, Sully got an outstanding amount of flying experience and instruction. He signed up to
This year in Student Government has been a great time. All of our hard work and commitment has definitely reflected in our success and outcomes of our events. I have learned so much in such a short time. Since I have more experience now from Freshman year, I am eager for what is to come my Sophomore year. In order for this next year to be as rewarding as this past one, there are a few things I think we should do to make the transition of a new teacher as smooth as possible. I think if we adjust the commissioner jobs, are open to new ideas brought by our new teacher, and have specific goals set at our summer meeting, we will have no problem staying on track next year.

Senior year: you never see it coming. Before you start high school, you are told that the next four years of your life will be the best times. You are also told that those same 4 years will go by faster than you expect. Going into highschool I never expected it to go by fast. I thought these amazing four years of my life were going to drag on forever. Now I realize that is far from true. I am now a second semester senior and the time clock is almost to zero. Joining orchesis was one of the best things I could have ever done in high school. Being involved in something makes senior year that much harder. Everything you do is your last. You know you're a senior when it is time for you to make the senior chant for show.
