Similarly to the second stanza of Invictus, The second verse (lines 5-9) of Fight song illustrates the image of a victim whose plunderers is the fervent doubt; The concept “doubt” is executed through the connotations in (Line 5-6), stating that she is surrendering to discouragement around her and also giving off a sense of weakness. Followed by (line 7), a metaphor about depth of feeling. "Fire" symbolises a common poetic metaphor for intense feeling or passion. Who’s a fan of The Hunger Games Trilogy? Like in Fight song, Fire plays an important role as the main character; Katniss Everdeen is referred as "the girl on fire" numerous times because of her fearlessness and passionate self. Relatively, this links back to not only the classical
Katniss Everdeen endured more challenges and difficulties than just fighting in the Hunger Games. Katniss faced the horrible challenge of overcoming her father’s death and leading on the family. Katniss was basically the leader in the family, so I believe volunteering as tribute for her sister, Primrose, was a dramatic challenge. Mental challenges were also faced in Katniss’s head; like how she was part of the cause why Rue and Thresh died. There are many reasons why I believe these were the most grueling challenges for Katniss Everdeen.
In the novel The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, the main character and protagonist is 16 year old Katniss Everdeen, a strong and selfless young woman who is far more mature than her age suggests. As the main provider for her family after her father died, Katniss had to become responsible and resourceful at a young age, which forced her to participate in rebellious behavior in order to keep her family alive. She is an unselfish and protective character, putting herself in danger in order to keep the ones she loves safe, especially for her little sister Primrose. Even after the pain and hardships she has had to go through not only in the games, but in her life, Katniss maintains her
“We had to save you because you're the Mockingjay, Katniss, says Plutarch. While you live, the revolution lives” (Collins). Katniss Everdeen from The Hunger Games is a complex character who epitomizes the archetype of a hero, however, she also shatters the mold by rebelling against the capital and endangering her whole family. She starts out as a hero to her family, especially her sister, and then becomes the symbol of strength to everyone. Katniss sacrifices herself by volunteering to join the Hunger Games in place of her sister, it is a game of survival where a boy and a girl from each district are forced to fight the other members of other districts to the death. By going out of her ordinary world and preparing to join a game where her life could be taken, she fits right into the archetype of a hero. Her bow and arrow, the weapon that only she can wield, will be the only things to help her survive. Despite these heroic qualities, Katniss makes an erroneous decision and blunder mistakes that shows the reader the flip side of Katniss.
The Concept of Self-Identity Conveyed Through The Protagonists’ Appearances in Anne of Green Gables and The Hunger Games
In the novel, The Hunger Games, written by Suzanne Collins, the reasons for Katniss and Peeta's winning the Game was all thanks to the help of their team. Their team has helped them, Katniss and Peeta, by training them at their sessions, helping them get their sponsors, and keeping them alive while being in the Game.
The outside source I chose that has the same/similar theme is The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. In The Hunger Games the main character Katniss voluenteers into the Hunger Games and has to survive by herself. This is like Crazy because Jason is all alone, left to survive by himself. Jason and Katniss both are left to survive in the world alone.
Katniss Everdeen is an expert at shooting a bow and arrow. You may not be starring in the next major motion picture like Katniss, but knowing how to shoot a bow and arrow is a great skill to have. I know it’s a little primitive, but using a bow and arrow requires great skill and precision.
Katniss Everdeen is a character who is constantly developing. In the beginning, she was the main provider for her family. In the middle of the the book she was a tribute to the Hunger Games and eventually won. Then in the end she was a greatly admired person who had the threat of President Snow killing her because she outsmarted the Capitol.
Katniss Everdeen was a hero, but just like any other hero, she faced many challenges. During the Hunger Games Katniss was faced with multiple challenge. She experienced things such as knowing where she stood with someone she thought she could trust, the death of someone close, and the responsibility of caring for someone else.
Coming of age stories all have common elements. They all portray a development of the protagonist that is due to their decisions, relationships, and environment. In Great Expectations and The Hunger Games, the protagonists, Pip and Katniss both have to make comparable decisions, and develop relationships that end up paving the way of events in the novel. There are also similarities between the two books other than Katniss to Pip. Secondary characters also have corresponding experiences, or effects on the novels.
The manipulative nature of the Games is later reaffirmed by the sponsor system: an arrangement through which good performance in the arena is rewarded with food and supplies delivered from the outside world. As she lies in a cave with Peeta at the end of Chapter Twenty-Two, Katniss becomes acutely aware of the power of performance. The scene unfolds, from her perspective:
The very first characteristic that the pin is not something usual for people just to put on on their wearing is that the pin is showing others that you are someone you’re not. Usually, for instance for a celebrity, you support him or her by buying his or her products like shirts by connecting your similar shared attitude and beliefs, and however, you don’t buy a pin which says you are Marilyn Manson, or Tom Cruise, the case which would eventually lead you to wrong plight. Yet if it’s not only supporting but also radically protesting for someone, the whole existence of the item is understandable. A dramatic example is a pin saying “I am Katniss Everdeen”, which would involve political issues. The exact date and the one who brought the pin to
Katniss Everdeen: Katniss Everdeen is the protagonist of the novel, and the story is told from her perspective. She is a 16-year-old girl who lives in District 12, the poorest region of a nation called Panem. She has straight black hair, olive skin and grey eyes that is a common appearance for residents who live in the Seam. She is described as a responsible and resourceful teenager who is more mature than her age implies.
In many works of literature, it is often a crucial component for characters to sacrifice opportunities that arise in their lives in order to help loved ones. In Suzanne Collin’s “The Hunger Games,” protagonist Katniss Everdeen sacrifices the chance to live her own life in order for her sister, Primrose Everdeen, to not experience potential death in the arena. Another character that has similar attributes to Katniss Everdeen would be Pari II in Khaled Hosseini’s, “And the Mountains Echoed.” This novel depicts a strong relationship between parents and a daughter that results in missed opportunities due to the health risks that have developed in the parents. The fundamental values of such a character have developed through years of witnessing
One character in the “Hunger Games” that is inhumanely is Mrs.Everdeen. She is inhuman because, after Mr. Everdeen passed away Mrs. Everdeen quit doing her job. She did not defined and provided for katniss and prim. She sat at home and was depressed. So, Since Mrs.Everdeen did not gather food for her children, Katniss had to go and kill prey to eat with her family. Therefore, katniss had to put in many treasury in the girls bowl for the reaping. Her mother did not care. This is how Mrs.Everdeen is inhumane.
