I have never heard of the Ketogenic diet until about 2 years ago when an Instagram online trainer sent me a follow request. He would post his daily meals of breakfast, lunch, snack dinner and whatever else he ate for that day. And I thought to myself, all he this guy eats is proteins and fats, what kind of trainer is this? Where are the carbs? This guy was lean, but I wanted to see what his clients look like so I started going through his pictures. Turns out he was a brain cancer survivor and he has been on the ketogenic diet during treatment for brain cancer and still continues to do so even though his cancer was cured.

Multiple types of research have been done to validate the effectiveness of the ketogenic diet in conjunction with radiation and chemotherapy to treat patient with glioblastoma multiforme. Therefore patients are enacting a ketogenic diet (KD) in order to decrease serum glucose flux while simultaneously elevating circulating ketones during radiation therapy and chemotherapy for the treatment of glioblastoma multiforme. 2. The outcome for patients diagnosed with glioblastoma remains bleak. The average survival time is 15 months. For several decades the standard of care for glioblastoma multiforme has remained the same and treatment advancement have been limited. However, the carbohydrate restriction (CR) and the ketogenic diet have been gaining popularity by both doctors and patients.
