When we say LEADERSHIP, a lot of factors are associated to it. It has a lot of dimensions and one cannot simply inherit it.We need to get exposed to a lot of dimensions in order to acquire those. In short a lot of skills put together makes one as a leader. Skills are like weapons for a leader and one important skill for any leader is communication. I am very much interested in improving my communication and networking skills. It’s a right match as they are my weaknesses as I am a shy person and sometimes can be quite introvert and guarded and a bit paranoid about situations and what people think. The sessions in King’s Leadership & Professional Skills Award of Effective Communication and Effective Networking will help me to overcome my fears
“Developing excellent communication skills is absolutely essential to effective leadership. The leader must be able to share knowledge and ideas to transmit a sense of urgency and enthusiasm to others. If a leader can't get a message across clearly and motivate others to act on it, then having a message doesn't even matter."

From the time that we are children we see leadership in action. A gutsy young child decides that she will be the captain of the kickball game; she stands up proudly and takes control. There is a raw quality to her leading, alliances are made and alliances are broken. If her team wins, the cheers abound. If her team loses it may be the last time she picks the players. Though this is anecdotal and elementary it is perhaps one of the earliest examples that I saw of leadership. Some of those so-called leaders became bullies and some become the popular kids. One thing is certain, based on our experiences over time we begin to see ourselves in each of these 2 extremes. We learn traits of leadership that we carry with us into our careers.

In many ways, leadership to me is an art form. There are very specific challenges and demands an artist will faces when completing a single piece of work. Artists will use their skills, abilities, creative processes, behaviors, and tools to meet their challenges and demands, drawing from past experiences, learning and input from trusted sources, time tested and proven techniques, and quite possibly a little innovation to overcome adversity and produce something which is amazing and often times can be closely replicated but never repeated. In essence, the results are unique because the situation is unique. A good leader in today's world works in much the same form and fashion, using similar experiences
Human beings are social creatures and thrive on communicating with one another. We typically communicate to meet personal needs; learn about ourselves, other people, and the world; and to build and maintain relationships with others (Bevan & Sole). Effective communication can be measured by the ability to transfer a message from a sender to receiver and successfully have it decoded as intended. Interpersonal communications include many factors, elements and strategies. This paper will address five learning outcomes and demonstrate how these ideas can be utilized to help people increase their communication competence and improve personal and professional relationships in the work place.
Leadership is a difficult term to define. In literal definition, it means “the action of leading a group of people or an organization”. However, that is a very prosaic definition. What qualities make up “the action of leading a group of people or an organization”? One way to find out is to observe the qualities possessed by leaders themselves. The Fortune 500 is an annual ranking of America’s largest corporations. At the very head of each one of these 500 corporations is a single individual called a Chief Executive Officer, or CEO. The CEO is in charge of all of the main responsibilities of the corporation. So it is no doubt that CEO’s are leaders; the CEO’s of the Fortune 500 lead millions
A strong interest and need exist in the workplace today to be an effective leader. While some people assume that being a leader has its own skill assets, it is essential to know that people that withhold leadership positions in organizations need to have strong effective communication skills that suite their position.
