Animal testing is a phrase that most people have heard but are perhaps still unsure of exactly what is involved. Whether it is called animal testing, animal experimentation or animal research, it refers to the experimentation carried out on animals. It is used to assess the safety and effectiveness of medicine, and understanding how the human body works. The use of animals in scientific research continues to play a vital part developing improvements in healthcare and the environment. The opportunities presented by scientific advances are used to replace or reduce animal use, and to refine procedures to minimise suffering. Animal testing is a controversial subject. Because it is so controversial, the biases that exist on either side can skew the accurate definition. Those who support animal testing may define it as experimentation that uses animals to benefit humans, where it saves lives and provides vital medical treatments. Animal research has enabled to find treatments for cancer, antibiotics for infections, vaccines to prevent some of the most deadly and debilitating viruses and surgery for injuries, illnesses and deformities.

While the pros to animal research are positives on humans, it is negatively affecting the animals themselves. Using animals for medical research is inhumane because they are left in these awful conditions. These animals are being mistreated in captivity because humans need them for their own research. The animals used in these experiments are treated very poorly because, they are subjected to force feeding, forced inhalation, deprived of food and water, excessive physical restraint, and may acquire infections and other wounds while in captivity (“Animal Testing”, 2017). Animals like these are burned, choked by CO2 and even left days without food or water. Sometimes we just test to see what the LD50 is for these animals, over 97,000 animals were killed just testing to find the LD50 from these animals. The LD50 is just a test to find out how much of one substance will kill 50% of the population. These animals are harmed for no reason because, most of the time it does not even help humans.

I agree with you, in the U.S. we spend too much time on preparation for testing. I did not expect to find such a high numbers, over one hundred mandated standardized test required between K-12. A long time of debates go back and forth on the rights of all animals with further argument or debates, do humans have the right to use animals on medical testing and lab use? There are several issues that can be placed in this argument this research will acknowledge four important topics in the rights of animal testing. Is it right to use animals for testing? Is it right to compare animal DNA to human DNA in these animal experiments? Is it right to use real animals instead of computers to generate results? Is it right to state animals are being protected and cared for while giving toxins to make them sick? Therefore, the question needs to be asked if animals should be used for scientific experiments in labs all across the globe.

Animal testing is weird. You would have never thought scientists could learn so much about diseases in a human body from a completely different animal. It’s amazing how people are able to learn so much by testing on other animal bodies. We also have to think about stopping animal testing, though. Many animals die because of testing. By continuing testing on animals, we lower the death rate of all animals each day, human and animal suffering decreases, and less of your hard earn money would be spent.

Testing is safer for animals than it is for humans. Animals are the closest thing to humans on our planet. Mice are 98% genetically similar to humans, and chimpanzees share 99% of their DNA with humans. Animal research has been found to put no human lives at risk. Experiments can take place to determine if the idea or product will work as expected. If it does, it can then be tested on humans with a lower risk of unfavorable outcomes.

Animals have been tested for ever. They use to not have rights. Back in the day animals that are put into testing are not given rights. They are forced to do things that they don’t want to do forced to do something that will make them injured. Animal testing is, and will be, a critical stage for the medical and biological research.

Animals have such different genes that humans. Animals are living creatures and should not be made to suffer. Animal testing has not been proven to help with these experiments.
