Lady Gaga gave a brilliant performance in Houston, at the NRG Stadium and during the Super Bowl LI halftime with a clear focus on the message of inclusion.
She opened the show by singing "God Bless America" before moving into "This Land Is Your Land" and finishing the introduction by reciting the part of The Pledge of Allegiance. She chose to emphasise the line: "One Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all," making sure that her focus on the words “for all” was obvious.
Lady Gaga performed parts of her famous hits "Just Dance", "Poker Face", "Telephone" and "Bad Romance together with the rest of her stage cast, but took it to heart to individually perform “Born This Way”. There, she sang lyrics from a verse towards
The pledge of allegiance and “Star Spangled Banner” are examples of compulsive patriotism in America that not everyone sees. The Pledge of Allegiance and the “Star-Spangled Banner” are orthodoxes Americans have recited for many years since the 1800s. The pledge of allegiance was practiced everyday in the beginning of class, starting at kindergarten, having all the students and teachers participate. I do not call to mind ever learning about what the pledge signified or meant. Never did I ask myself why we said this pledge of allegiance every single day, it was just a mandatory order of each day. The “Star Spangled Banner” is the national anthem that is recited before sport’s events, like football games, and also at official government procedures. Both are traditions in America that show pride for their country, it’s freedom, and history.
Lady Gaga entered the music scene in early 2008 and made big in 2009 with her album the The Fame Monster. Although many of the fans believe that Lady Gaga has a lot of talent, much of the success of her music career can be attributed to factors other than the music itself. In today's music environment, promotion of the music is a major factor that must be accompanying talent for an artist to be a success. Marketing has become one of the driving forces that can help an artist get there music in front of audiences and help them promote their music on a national level. Even though Gaga was an initial success and most of her shows were sold out, she still went bankrupt because of the expenses associated with the marketing budget.
Many people hail “The Star Spangled Banner” as the greatest piece of American music. The audiences of America’s national anthem seem, instinctively, eager to express their respect by embracing the notion to remove their hats and stand up. However, not many people ponder over the question of what “The Star Spangled Banner” truly means. What does it mean? Why does it deserve so much reverence and honor? What exceptional difference allows it to prevail over the masterpieces of prominent composers like Mozart and Beethoven? The answer is fairly simple. “The Star Spangled Banner” symbolizes America’s perseverance, its set of moral laws and ethics, and its history that constitutes what America truly means.
Why has religion made such an impact? Most people are passionate on what they believe, but why have we decided to take out a part of our history just because of our opinions? I have traveled all around the world as a missionary with my family, and have learned to respect all religions no matter how much you are against it. "Under God" should stay in the pledge of allegiance because our country was built on Judeo-Christian faith, it is a tradition and a part of our national history, and although some people might not agree because not all people believe in God, but saying “Under God” does not make it a prayer.
Philip Malloy, a high school boy in the novel “Nothing but The Truth” by Avi,
It was once said by Ronald Reagan that, “When we honor our flag we honor what we stand for as a nation- freedom, equality, justice and hope”. In the article “In the land of the free,’ are you free to sit out of the national anthem?” by Jaweed Kaleem. It all started to get attention at Quarterback from the NFL Football player to remain seated while the “Star-Spangled Banner”. The rest of his teammates stood and had one hand over their hearts during the “Star-Spangled Banner”. When people saw an NFL Player do it; some people follow his lead. While The quarterback Colin Kaepernick kneeled when the song came on with one of his teammates. Also, the Cornerback stay seated during that song during that game. Some people have their beliefs on the flag,
This challenge considers that the various situations the individual faces help shape character, which means that an individual’s character does not remain stagnant, but the individual’s perception of society does. Lady Gaga’s personal story debases such challenge. In 2014, Lady Gaga revealed that she had been raped at the age of nineteen. Such a dramatic event, shaped her character as she had now become a victim of sexual abuse, and thus changed the way she saw the world. Lady Gaga is twenty-nine today, ten years after the occurrence of her abuse. Based on the challenge to the narrator’s assertion, what happened to Lady Gaga would have had no effect on the way she saw the world; her perception of the world would have remained definitive. But, as was the case with Mr. Dimmesdale, Gaga’s character, as a victim, has shaped and continues to shape how she lives life and how she sees the world. Lady Gaga’s character certainly defined her perceptions of reality, as since the moment of her tragic ordeal, Gaga has applied this aspect of her character to her career, the same way Dimmesdale applied his character to his profession in the Gospel. With songs like Swine, Til It Happens To You, and her contribution to the sexual abuse documentary The Hunting Ground, it is evident that Gaga’s character, as a victim of sexual abuse
In an interview with Metro news, she admitted that she is actually on medications and there is something about acting that helps her not stress herself out about those comments. Lady Gaga is on a rough road when it comes to the area of her career since she is now venturing into a new
Glamorously gaudy, this self-made post-modern diva, Lady Gaga was the first true millennial superstar. She seems to be stitched together from elements of Madonna, David Bowie, and Freddie Mercury. Mastering the constant connection of the internet era like no other, Gaga has generated countless mini-sensations through her style, her videos, and her music; cultivating a devoted audience she dubbed her "Little Monsters." However it’s hard to understand the end when you don’t know the beginning, so that’s where we’ll start.
From the get-go of her fame, Lady Gaga has always been critiqued for the way she dressed and how ridiculous her songs were since her uprising in 2008, after the release of her album “The Fame.” Lady Gaga likes to dress in a way that is, depending on your opinion of her, either very unorthodox or in a way that expresses who she is. For example, in November 2014, Lady Gaga was sporting what appeared to be a blown up metallic star suit in
Completely changing to her identity to Lady Gaga, she began performing in clubs with a DJ named Lady Starlight, who helped come up with her onstage look, and act. They performed a show called “The Ultimate Pop Burlesque Show” and were invited to come play at 2007's Lollapalooza festival, where their show received nothing but high reviews.
4) Gaga’s launch as an artist up to 2009 was a success. Her talent and unique personality opened doors for her. Since it was hard to get new artist music on radio, Gaga began touring in small venues so as to gain popularity. She gained a huge fan base as well through optimizing social media cites and Gaga’s team organized some interviews with about 50 popular music bloggers. As a result the interviews reached
As Robert Burns said “The best laid plans of mice and men often go astray”. In the third quarter of 2009 Things were looking up for Lady Gaga. She had just announced a joint tour with Kayne West. Together they would be able to sell out big arenas and put on that grand production. This collaboration was a cost effective way to put on a grand performance. It was cost effective because they were splitting the cost of a large scale production. This gave each of them the cost of a mid size theater while getting the venue of a large one. This could serve as a spring board for Lady Gaga’s career. She had a larger than life style, but did not yet have the proven market to go it alone. The two of them together gave a security
From pop star sensation to fashion icon, Lady Gaga has influenced pop culture in many ways. After her 2008 hit single “Just Dance” the singer quickly gained fame for her unique techno pop music. From there on she has acquired a huge following and quickly took over the world of pop music. The singer then used the newly popular twitter website to tweet to her fans. She encouraged them to love themselves, spread positivity to one another, and most importantly funded her Born This Way Foundation in hopes of helping bullied victims. Not only did she use her music and social media account to influence her fans, she also made a broad fashion statement to motivate her fans to be weird, different, and unique. Many people still remember her famous meat dress she walked the red carpet in, while others reminisce on all the outrageous outfits she’s worn over the years. Over the last nine years, this pop star diva continues to top the charts with her music, spreading kindness, and walking the streets wearing memorable outfits.
Through this label, Gaga wrote songs for many hit artists like the Pussycat Dolls, Britney Spears, and Fergie; she also caught the attention of hip-hop singer/songwriter Akon who signed Lady Gaga to his imprint under the same Interscope Records umbrella (Gaga 3). A few months later, she released her debut single “Just Dance” which rose to the top of all major charts like the Billboard Pop 100, Hot 100, and Hot Digital Singles. It was also an international hit, at the top of the charts in more than seven countries (Biography 1). The single was apart of “The Fame” album which included other top tracks like “Poker Face”, “Bad Romance”, and“Paparazzi”, and it sold over 15 million copies worldwide (Biography 1). The album alone earned her six Grammy nominations. However, this is only the first step to Lady Gaga’s success. She is only artist of her time to top 5 million sales in her first two hits and is number one on Twitter with over 9.5 million followers. On May 23, 2011, Gaga released her third studio album, “Born This Way”. The title track “Born This Way” set a music industry record being the first one million sales in just five days. In all, her success encompasses one American Music Award, five Grammys, thirteen MTV Video Music Awards, three Teen Choice Awards, two French music awards, and three British music awards (Biography 1). Lady Gaga has also been named in Forbes’ list
