1. This unit would be covered in two weeks (10 days). It would include a quick introduction, 5 lessons, three skills days, a review, and summative assessment test day is included.
Unit: Exploring the United States
Grade: Fourth
Standards:
• NESS 4.2.12 Students will recognize and explain specialization and why different regions produce goods and services.
• NESS 4.3.3 Students will identify the natural processes in the physical world o NESS 4.3.3.a Identify physical process that shape Nebraska’s features and patterns (e.g. weathering, erosion). o NESS 4.3.3.b Identify examples of ecosystems located in Nebraska (e.g., forests, wetlands, grasslands, and rivers located in Nebraska).

Lastly, they will be looking at different maps. This would entail answering questions about the maps and writing two sentences on the benefits and disadvantages of each type.
3. The pre-assessment knowledge bar graph would be used before the unit to give a visual of what students know, have heard of, and do not know. I would draw a chart on a piece of poster board that has topics, and vocabulary words from the unit. This would be hanging up in my classroom. I would give each student some sticky notes, have them write their name on the back of them, and have the students individually place their notes on the section of the chart that represents their knowledge of the topics.
