Legislative Branch Power

The legislative branch, Congress, has the power to make laws valid for the whole country. Powers like the regulation of taxes, regulation of commerce between the states and with foreign countries, the power to declare war, and the power to impeach the President are some of the issues the legislative branch has to deal with. Congress has two chambers (or "houses"): the Senate and the House of Representatives ("the house").

The branch that I feel is the uttermost powerful is the Legislative. I say this considering the legislative branch deals with all the laws and, everything has to be passed by them in order for it to become a real law and etc . The legislative branch is made up of two houses in congress . Which is made up of the Senate and the house of representatives . In total there are 100 senators out of all of the States and they are elected by the state and the serve 6 year terms . The vice - president is said to be in charge of the senators . The House of representatives has 435 representatives . The number of representatives is determined by how prodigious each state is . There are many debates concerning which branch of government is more powerful. I honestly thought the executive branch was the least powerful of all three, but James Wilson lists a lot of reasons to think otherwise. The argument that the President and the Executive branch is the most powerful is still up in the air, but there are three strong reasons why the President and Executive branch is the most powerful at the moment.

The legislative branch is the most powerful branch in government. The legislative branch is in charge of making and passing laws. They have the power to override a president’s decision, stop laws from being passed, and basically control all decisions the governments makes. The legislative branch, also called the congress, consists of the House of Representatives and the senate. The reason for two houses of congress is to balance out the concerns of smaller but more populated states against states that are larger but with less population (www.Usgovinfo.com).

A power that the executive branch has over the legislative branch is that the president, executive branch, can veto any laws that the congress, legislative branch, may try to pass.

THESIS: The Legislative Branch consists of the House of Representatives and the Senate which forms the United States Congress; the Constitution grants Congress the single authority to pass legislation and declare war, the right to approve or reject Presidential appointments, and significant investigative powers.

The Legislative branch is headed by Congress which consists of the House of Representatives and the Senate. They have the power to pass laws, originating spending bills, impeaching officials, and approving treaties. Article I has a huge influence over our country because of the enormous power that the Legislative branch possesses. Article I gives Congress its powers and limits. The Legislative branch principal mission is to make laws. Article I creates two sections of Congress which are the Senate and the House of Representatives. Creating two sections is important to the democratic principles because it prevents a single group or individual from having too much power. The Legislative branch also has the power to check and balance the other two federal branches. Article I also creates a democratic process of voting by selecting each House of Representatives and Senate of the United States. One meaningful aspect of article I is that it explains the duties of Congress regarding money, citizenship, and war. I strongly believe that article I is one of the most important articles because it establishes the responsibilities of the Legislative branch while also distributing the power so laws are passed democracy.

The Legislative branch has the power to pass federal laws, establish federal courts, override a Presidential veto, and impeach the President. The size of the House of Representatives resulted out of the Great Compromise. The number of Representatives is determined by Congress based on the state population. At minimum each state would have one representative, with larger states having more. When the House was created there was one representative for every thirty thousand people, yet currently we have one

My answer to this question is, the Legislative branch is more powerful than the Executive branch. The Legislative branch is the branch of law making which consists of the Congress, then split in two parts- House of representatives and the Senate. A power given to Congress

In the government, there are 3 different branches sharing equal powers to keep everything balanced. Yet, it seems as if the Legislative Branch has just a little more power than anyone really notices. The Legislative Branch has their own very special powers in their own branch that give them advantages, such as making laws. Also, they supervise things and join in decisions made by the Judicial Branch. The President, who is part of the Executive Branch seems to be the most powerful in the U.S., but is he? We may think we know that the power is separated into 3 parts and everything is equal, after all that is what we learn. Even so, if you take a good look at the Constitution, it really isn’t. The Legislative Branch appears to be the one with the dominance over the others.

The legislative branch is also the “only part of the government that can make new laws or change existing laws.”("white house"). A society is formed and controlled by rules and regulations, those who make these rules and regulations basically control society. The president does have the power to veto any law he doesn’t approve of, but if Congress is in accord with the Senate they can “override his veto with two thirds vote of each chamber.”("white house") ounce again subordinating the president . When the legislative branch has both houses in coalition with each other the executive branch really has no power over the legislative branch.

This clause was created to give the Congress powers to do everything that is considered as necessary and important. With this clause, Congress can create laws and have power to make actions in situations where the Constitution does not give permission to act. The clause is also called the Elastic Clause. The draft of this clause brought disputes between anti-federalists, who believed that the clause would give government too much power, and federalists, who assumed that the clause is just a permission to act given by the Constitution.

The legislative branch of any state is considered to be the most powerful; being above the judicial and executive branches. The main job of the legislative branch within a state government is to make laws, in favor of the people of that state, but every state acts upon each bill by a different process. The legislation process of both Texas and New York have multiple similarities but also differ on many levels as well.

The Legislative Brach of the federal government is made up of two Chambers, the House of Representatives and the Senate. These two bodies draft and pass laws that, if signed by the President of the United States, govern the United States and it's citizens.

Although we have systems in place to maintain a fair balance of power between the 3 branches I believe the executive branch is the most powerful. Over the years the executive branch has been gaining power, while the legislative branch has been getting weaker and weaker every year. I believe the executive branch is the most powerful because today presidents are able to hold people in prison without a trial, and are able to pursue undeclared wars. Also, since the executive branch’s job is to enforce laws I believe that this shows a key point of power
