Lennart is pictured as an addict, a workaholic. In the first scenes where he is seen with his wife in his own home before work, his wife asks him to stay home and spend her off day with her. She says, "I haven't missed a in 14 years." insinuating that he is a workaholic. Along with Lennart being a workaholic, his wife misses his presence. Moreover, men make all the major decisions in the household because they know more of what is going around the city, then women do. Also, they went to school and are smarter. Women should not be able to vote and make the wrong and illogical decision because they don’t know what is going on around town. Men only want to protect women from the harsh and cruel world. Unlike women, men are emotionally stronger and are capable of facing danger.
Henry and Elisa go to a work party. Elisa makes polite, but meaningless conversation with the wives of Henry’s co workers.
Carol Gilligan believes that there are vast differences between genders. Males are individuals who want to see justice be converted into instant gratification. They can be described by the following terms: logical, right and wrong, rule-based, less caring, present focused, strict rules, black and white, independent, rigid or commanding. Females are individuals who see caring for other people as important. They can be depicted by the following terms: reasonable, emotional, compassionate, more caring, rationalizing, future focused, shades of gray, dependent, people oriented, or having difficulty in decision-making. These terms, of course, do not express the characteristics of every man or woman.
The first difference is how they listen to people talking. Women love to make “listener noises such as ‘mhm,’ ‘uhuh,’ and ‘yeah.’” They do this to show “I’m with you” (Tannen332). On the other hand, men listen in silence. When men are silent it usually is because they are trying to interpret the information. Another reason for a men’s silence is when they go into their “cave” because they are upset or stressed. Women misinterpret a man’s silence and they imagine horrible things such as “he hates me, he doesn’t love me, he is leaving me forever.” A women’s silence means what she’s about to say is going to hurt them or she doesn’t want to talk to them. If they can realize they have different ways of communicating then there wouldn’t be many worries or
are more dramatic and open with their guilt, however, the women keep it bottled up
I think that menʹs behavior are superficial and stereotyping. They keep laughing at women as if they are silly , then mocking at their lack of reason . Thy think that women can not find anything valuable though they themselves could not find any motive during their investigation. Howerver, women are wise and professional.
He never questions her sudden return to alcohol and fails to notice her growing dependence on it. If Lester had caught the warning signs—Kathy smoking profusely “as a crutch” and feeling “jittery” when she needs more alcohol—if Lester had recognized these symptoms, perhaps he would have realized Kathy’s current mental instability (145). But Lester overlooks this side of Kathy and is unable to check her usage. As a result, drunk and desperate at a restaurant in the mall, Kathy is convinced that Lester will return to his family and leave her, only after making love “to [her] like a man taking in oxygen before he goes on a long underwater trip” (202). In her impaired state, Kathy drives to her father’s house, now occupied by the Behrani family, and attempts suicide twice. When Lester arrives at the house and spies Kathy passed out on the floor, he assumes the worst and breaks into the Behrani’s house, holding them hostage. This starts a chain of events that ends with the Behranis and their son dead and Kathy and Lester in prison.

The narrator’s wife has known Robert for years, before she even knew her husband, and that makes the narrator uncomfortable. He sticks to a routine, saying that “what [are] the choices” when asked if he would leave his job (Carver 37). He stays at his job despite not liking it because he fears change, which is what happens when Robert arrives. He does not go to bed with his wife, choosing pot over cuddles or sleep. When Robert finally arrives and changes the narrator’s routine, the narrator feels slightly distressed.
The Husband loves his wife and the narrator writes through the tenderness of the Husband's eye. When Ann slices her finger re-washing the silverware, all animosity is lost as he scrambles up stairs to get her a Band-Aid as a peace offering to cease the argument. He finishes the cleaning in the kitchen and goes as far as to mop the floor while he waits for the frustration and anger to subside in his Wife.

His lack of social skills becomes much more apparent once he leaves the house for the first time. He has no intended destination, and wanders the streets. Once he is hurt by the limousine, he is given an injection to ease his pain. As the doctor fills the needle, he wants to show fear, not because he has had this experience before, but because "he visualized all the TV incidents in which he had seen injections being given" (Kosinski 33). Just like the prisoners in the cave, he was trying to understand a reality based on pictures in order to react to the world around him. One thing that he has never experienced is any type of a sex life. He found himself in a room with EE, where she made a sexual advance towards him. He thought back to a situation on TV where he could imitate an actor in a similar scene. He remembers a close embrace and kissing, but unfortunately
Men's and women's emotional outlooks are viewed by stereotypes. Men are usually the more aggressive sex, and women are usually the more passive sex. Men are seen as the more sexual gender, and that they solely want sex. Our
No one would argue the fact that men and women are physically different. The physical differences are rather obvious and most of these can be seen and measured easily. Men, who are essentially built for physical confrontation and the use of force, usually have greater upper body strength, build muscle easily, have thicker skin, and mostly use the left side of their brain. Women on the other hand, have a higher percentage of body fat, and a wider pelvis. Women also have four times as many brain cells connecting the right and left side of their brain. This provides physical evidence that supports the observation that men rely easily and more heavily on their left brain to solve one problem one step at
