You want to know how the world really is lit up? Well thank a Lighting Technician for that. Lighting Technicians are in charge of setting up, adjusting, fixing, and programing lights for either one show or multiple at a time. Lighting Techs can spend countless hours doing one of these task at a time, along with helping out the other fields of theatre technicians like creating sets, helping with sound, and or stage managing. They also work in different areas such as professional stages, ameature stages, concert stages, and film and tv sets. Lighting Technicians control the visuals of the stage with the use of a lighting board. They are responsible for rigging, adjusting, unloading and moving equipment, and making sure everything works properly.
The operating room is well lit and is a sterile environment. The surgical tech can expect to be standing for long periods of time, depending on the surgery being performed. They usually work a minimum of forty hours a week and it can be either days or nights. They may be on call for emergency surgeries depending on the environment they chose to work in (AST, 2014, pp 3-26).
The documentary Visions of Light was made for the purpose of showing the art of cinematography. Cinematography was defined throughout the film as the making of a motion picture. “I found out that I was unconsciously responding to light.” said by Ernest Dickerson an American film director and cinematographer. Light is thought of to be something so little but means so much in a film. It is used to change the emotion and to tell people where to look.
Little lights shine their way down the rugged winding path. Foot steps trudge in front and behind staying close together. Dodging thorns and burs left and right. Ouch!—Every time. Quiet laughs fill the silence as we continue on. Our trek takes us up a slippery slope and through a cow pasture and under a barbed wire fence and down a long tractor path all with the weight of our bags and rifles. Finally, we make it to where we head separate ways. As goodbyes and good lucks are exchanged, nerves set in. I brush them off as I head to my sixteen feet high tower hidden among the trees. I can’t see it in the darkness, but I know the location by memory. Soon, light catches orange tape constricted around cold steel—Found it. But I still have to climb all sixteen feet. I attach my lifeline to the stand as I
I volunteered at the Little Lights Urban Ministries. I had the pleasure of working with adults and kids but, majority were adults in a low income community. Little lights was founded in 1995 by Steven Park. Little Lights is located in Potomac Gardens public housing apartments in Washington DC. It all started off with Steven tutoring one child in an uptown neighborhood. Then he met his wife Mary and things started expanded. They started allowing 15 kids come over after school to do homework and bible study. Sometimes they would order pizza or buy chicken to feed the kids if they stayed over late. A couple of years later they was blessed with the main building and somebody donated a van for transportation. Steven then start his nonprofit and
If the technician is going to install any new wiring then the technician will inform the customer how is will be installed. This is to insure that that customer does not call the business office later to complain about how the wok was done. All through out the time the technician is at the customer's location he needs to keep the customer informed of the work being done. When installing new service or repairing the phone lines many times the trouble is not at the customer's location so the technician must go down the street. Any time the technician has to leave the customers premises he needs to inform the customer what he is doing a how long before he expects to return. While the work is being done it is very important that the technician ensure that the customer's line has been bonded and grounded. This will help to protect the customer's equipment in case of lightning or stray voltage from the power lines. After the technician has completed the work that needed to be performed the technician then has to complete a couple of test. The first test is the transmission test which is a combination of several different readings. This test measures the about of noise on the line, test to ensure there is a proper ground, test for power influence and performs a stress test on the line. After the test is completed the technician records the results of the test on a sticker that is then placed inside the customers demark.

The Physical Effects Technician is the technician that works to make props, models, scenery, prosthetics and mechanically animated pieces. Deputy stage managers play an important role, by organising and running the stage productions to ensure the performance runs smoothly. The DSM role is not restricted to just the live performances. They attend rehearsals right through to live performances. During the rehearsals they will make a prompt book that has all information about the performance, meaning if the crew or cast have any issues the DSM is the person they will seek help from.
In class we are reading a book called “The Lighting Thief “by Rick Riordan. There are two characters named Clarisse and Nancy that have many comparisons. They both want him out of their lives, they have different personality that are sometimes similar, and they also have different ideas of what to do to him.
X-ray techs with limited operator helps patients prepare for exams. They explain the procedures to the patient in step by step detail. Patient education is always the most import part of any role.

Dark room photography is a very interesting thing to learn about. It was very different from digital photography, therefore it intrigued me. I was sad that I wasn't here to learn all about due to my absences, but from when I was here, I enjoyed what we were doing. I was really surprised with the amount of time it took to develop the pictures and how many different chemicals it took to start the process of developing the photos. I was also extremely surprised with how easily photos were ruined and destroyed. In digital cameras, there is no chance for photos to get jammed or ripped, only deleted. One thing I learned during this project was that it has to be really dark for the photos to develop right. That surprised me because it was basically

Without light, the theatre cannot exist, that much is certain. As actors, as audience members, as technical visionaries, we are only as powerful as the light we are given. The extent to which we depend upon light in performance has changed dramatically throughout history, however, as light technology developed and expanded. In the history of performance, the artistic community is constantly victim to the limits of lighting technology, and exponentially altered by breakthroughs. From the utilization of candles and natural light to isolated light and electricity, the histories of illumination and theatre are virtually inseparable, and continue to push the boundaries of live performance.
The production designer, who is also sometimes called the art director, is responsible for maintaining the sets, props and the costumes so that they are in sync with the story and the character’s role (Goodykontz & Jacobs, 2011). Production designers are head of the department on film crews and they are responsible for the art department. Basically, they may be asked to look at scripts to decide how much time the art department needs to spend on films. They also calculate the budgets to figure out how much money will be spent as well. Furthermore, they will provide their design sketches expressing detailing mood, lighting, composition and color to the art directors who oversees the production (Anonymous, 2012).
