Lizzie Borden is a citizen that lived in Fall River, Massachusetts who was infamous for being accused of the murder of her step-mother and father, a popular rhyme of this incident does exist and goes as followed: “Lizzie Borden took an axe and gave her mother forty whacks, when she saw what she had done, she gave her father forty-one”.
What happened was an unknown person murdered her parents and the maid with an axe and gave them 12 Whacks to the head. Now the person who did the murder of her step-mother and father is unknown even to this day, people speculate that Lizzie Borden did the murder because of her poor relations with her step-mother, and she burned a dress because it had a quote on quote, ”Stain” on it while she was painting a
Parvana is a novel written by Deborah Ellis that was published in 2002. Throughout the detailed book, Parvana and her companions encounter certain responsibilities which relate to the quote; ‘Some responsibilities are taken by choice, others are forced upon us.’ This especially relates to a certain character in the book, Mrs Weera who is one of Parvana’s old school teachers. Throughout the book, she has to make many decisions on whether she will stand up and take responsibility. This includes taking control of Parvana’s household, taking care of the children and caring for Homa.
Lizzie Borden is a very known serial killer but not by killing plenty of people, but only killing her father and stepmother. Along with her time period, the late 1800’s, it was very unknown for women to be killers and were seen as the “weaker sex”, which is also one of the reasons why Mrs. Borden was so popular for this case. But how do you get away with a murder of your parents? Lizzie Borden was born on July 19th, 1860 in Fall River, Massachusetts. First born, Emma Borden, was very prepared at age of 6 to have a baby sister (Alice) and teach her how to love and would protect her from anything.
It seems obvious that Lizzie Borden did not kill her parents but did try to from the poison she had bought. Lizzie didn’t actually buy the poison, but she had gotten the maid to go out to get it. Lizzie got the maid to get it by saying she had to get it so she can get stains out of her dress. The poison was an acid named Prussic acid. Lizzie used the acid to slowly poison her parents. Why did Lizzie wanted to kill her parents is her getting payback. For example Lizzie and her sister Emma never got along with her stepmother, and they kina didn’t like their dad at thetime as well. No one rally liked the Borden family most of the town didn’t really liked Andrew and his shady business. Furthermore Andrew Borden was known as
“Lizzie Borden took an axe and gave her mother forty whacks. When she saw what she had done, she gave her father forty-one.” The grisly murders of Andrew and Abby Durfee Gray Borden remain to be one of the most sensational double murders in American history, rivaling even the likes of the O.J. Simpson trials. The “Lizzie Borden took an axe” rhyme is supposed to chronicle the macabre accounts of the murders. However, the rhyme possesses several historical inaccuracies. Lizzie’s “mother” in this rhyme was actually Lizzie’s stepmother and was “only” struck nineteen times with a hatchet not with an axe. Lizzie’s father, Andrew, received about ten blows to the head ( ). Though the children's rhyme is not quite historically accurate the
The character Madame Defarge plays a role as one of the leading villains in Charles Dickens’ A Tale of Two Cities, whose actions turn out to be one of the major causes of the French Revolution in the book. The main influence of Madame Defarge's hatred is fueled by a self-centered issue that was germinated by another family who happens to be aristocratic. In Charles Dickens’ A Tale of Two Cities, Madame Defarge is justified in her hatred against the St. Evremonde family because her sister was raped and her brother was killed by the two patriarchs.
“Lizzie Borden took an axe and gave her mother 40 whacks”, but did she actually do it. On August 4, 1892 Andrew Borden and Abby Borden were brutally murder. Most people think that Lizzie Borden was the murder, but I don’t think she murdered them. There are many clues that prove her innocent. Lizzie Borden was innocent and another person killed her parents. Lizzie Borden deeply cared about her father, there was no physical evidence, and other people didn’t like her father. LIzzie Borden would never kill her parents, but other people would.
A little over a century ago an atrocious double murder was committed, in the two-half story house at 92 Second Street, in Fall River, Massachusetts. This crime shocked the city of Fall River, as well as the nation, as Lizzie Borden, a 32-year-old Sunday school teacher, went on trial for the murder of her father and her stepmother. (Augustine). An all male jury eventually acquitted her on the accusations.(Aiuto). To this day, the murderer of Andrew J. Borden and Abby Gray Borden is still unknown, but in the public mind everyone believes it was Lizzie Borden.
Overall, Lizzie Borden was found inncoent in court and no matter what people think she is innocent. She loved her father, didn’t have a problem with her step mother, and there was no evidence found at the crime scene to prove her guilty. Lizzie was very upset after her father died, she didn’t have a reason to kill her
"Lizzie Borden took an axe, and gave her mother forty whacks; When she saw what she had done, she gave her father forty-one." Wrong. It is all wrong because Lizzie Borden is innocent. In 1892, the murders of Andrew and Abby Borden were committed. The real question is, is Lizzie Borden guilty or innocent? I strongly believe that Lizzie Borden is not guilty for the murder of her father and stepmother. I have these beliefs because there is no physical evidence proving that Lizzie is guilty, she wrote letters showing grief and a sensitive side, and Andrew had many people against him due to his business dealings. Altogether, it is simply not a possibility that Lizzie is guilty.
For the past century, the Murders of Andrew J. Borden and his wife Abby Borden became one of America’s obsessions. From the towns’ people of Fall River Massachusetts to the rest of the country, the Borden murders became the topic of interest. The case shocked the nation as Lizzie Borden- a 32 year old school teacher- was put on trial for the murders of her parents.
Lizzie Borden should have been imprisoned. She was guilty of the murder of her stepmother and father. First of all, Lizzie was spotted in town the day before the murder. Lizzie had attempted to buy poison prussic acid. She failed because they wouldn’t sale the acid to her.

There is one quote that speaks to me the most, “I long to accomplish a great and noble task, but it is my chief duty to accomplish small tasks as if they are great and noble” By Helen Keller. This quote in a way represents how I deal with many situations. I believe that the more enthusiasm and care you give your small tasks, will result in a better outcome.
“Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, ambition inspired, and success achieved.” This quote from Helen Keller is a saying that I internalize, embody, and apply to my everyday life. The product of what I am had to be carved from times of grief and hardship. A cloud of sadness was slightly lifted when I was brought into this world.
