Before reading “The People of Sparks,” I was very skeptical on how the book would compare to “City of Ember” which was the first book in the series. But after reading the book I was very pleased with how Jeanne Duprau developed the main characters by giving them realistic struggles like how Doon was struggling to control his anger issues, and how Lina’s curiosity and rash decision making still tended to cause trouble. Which leads to the next reason why enjoyed the book which was because it stays true to its original characters, and puts them in an entirely different situation. In the first book Lina and Doon who are the main protagonists in the book had to find their way out of Ember because of its depleting resources, and had to use their

The Racine’s were granted adoption of Leticia at trial, only to lose her in the Court of Appeal, wherein she became a ward of the Court. At this time, the Racine’s were given custody of Leticia with the notion that Mrs. Woods would thus apply for custody or access. On June 20, 2014, the Department obtained emergency custody through C&P of Ryan due to neglect by mother Heather Martin. Mother was arrested by Burlington Police on 6/16/14 for larceny; shoplifting and three counts of receiving stolen property. Heather was taken to at MCI Framingham. The family was placed in a hotel through Department of Transitional Assistance. It was against the hotel policy for children to be left in the hotel unsupervised, and Ryan and Bria were staying alone in the room for five days. This was deemed concerning for the two children to not have an appropriate caregiver. When the Department was made aware of the situation father Brian Scopa 's whereabouts were unknown to the Department. Family members were contacted that could possibly take the children in. However, uncle Stephen Martin, aunt Cindy Fiore and Grandmother Carroll Clinton were unable to do so for various reasons. Given that there were no family members to take Ryan and Bria in, the Department placed them in a temporary Hotline foster care placement from the 6/20/14 to 6/23/14 until a more suitable living arrangement was made available. On 6/23/14 Ryan and his sister were placed in a kinship home of a family friend.

For my module 1 case, I am tasked to review the case of Lanesha Johnsons and answer the following questions; from a cultural perspective, is it unusual that Grandmother Marietta is the primary caregiver? Discuss the ways in which Lanesha, Grandma Marietta, and Hannah Healthcare approach this situation from totally different perspectives. How does Lanesha 's temperament affect the situation? What responsibilities do health care providers have in this situation? The case regarding Lanesha Johnson is both frustrating and eye opening, because it seems that the resolution to this case is so easy, but when you look at it through the lens of cultural barriers, the situation because much more murky.
