1. Malala’s passion for education and women’s rights shaped her life in a very drastic way. From being a young girl that lived in Mingora, Pakistan that not many people knew about, to a young girl whom everyone knows about and loves. Her passion led her to give many speeches in order to try to help make a difference in the world. Because she has so much passion for education and women’s rights, people from all around the world were listening to what she had to say. A cause that I care about deeply is child hunger. I can’t even imagine having to think about where your next meal is going to come from or if you are going to get any food at all for the next few days. If I could change anything it would be to make a program to help every child …show more content…
While reading about Malala and how she became an activist when she was very young, I began fell in awe that at her age she had the courage and the power to speak in front of a crowd and tell them what she wanted to happen in the world. I was also very inspired by her to not be afraid to speak out when I felt something was not right and needed to be changed. Malala found her courage and inspiration from her dad. Her courage came from when her dad ran a school for girls. She found courage when the Taliban were threatening to bomb her father’s school if he didn’t stop letting girls learn at his school. Instead of listening to the Taliban her father still let girls come to the school. This showed Malala that if her father had the courage like that that she could have the courage to speak out about women’s rights and education. Malala’s inspiration also came from her dad because of what he did to make sure that every girl went to …show more content…
The changes that happen in the book “I Am Malala” to Pakistan and Swat are about the schools. At the beginning of his book, girls are able to go to school and they could feel safe and learn. Toward the end of the book, is was very dangerous for girls to go to school because of the Taliban. The Taliban were even threatening to bomb schools if they didn’t stop letting girls goes to school. Malala’s response to this was her starting fight against it and give speeches to stop what the Taliban were doing. Malala’s character is shaped and influenced by her surrounding by making her change from being a sweet and powerless girl, to one of the most powerful speakers in the world.
7. Malala’s relationship with SWAT is very complicated especially now that she is an activist. She loves her hometown of SWAT, but at the same time has a dislike of how they are treating the women and girls who are living there. I think that Malala is going to return to SWAT because that is her hometown is and all of her friends are. She talks about being homesick and missing her school and friends. That is why I believe she will
It began as an ordinary day in Mingora, Pakistan, for a young girl returning home from school on her school bus. Suddenly, a masked gunman rushed into the bus and shouted, “Who is Malala?” Her friends on the bus looked back at her, and in the blink of an eye she was shot on the left side of her face. This incident was the spark that ignited a call for change in education around the world. Malala Yousafzai was the face of this change. She made significant contributions to female education rights by being an education activist and urging children to speak out and fight for their rights. She forever changed the lives of Pakistani girls who today benefit from free education and resources with numerous schools around their country.
When Malala began speaking she was only 11 and was only trying to speak her mind. The dangerous terrorist group has invaded her home city, and she had the courage to speak up against them expecting no fame. The Taliban enforce strict Islamic law and destroyed or shut down girls' schools preventing women from getting and education. The people living here lived in constant fear but Malala was one of the few brave enough to fight it. Malala chose to continue going to school and even helped lead a group of girls to furthur their education, which is very dangerous considering her circumstances. The radical group soon strikes back, attempting to assassinate a only 15 y/o activist. Malala survived a shot to the head, and dident let that stop her and dident let that stop her from advocating for womens education. She faced many tragities, making sacrafices and even putting her life on the line. Malala overcame many obsticals and those obsticals are one of the reasons she is so globally
Malala Yousafzai was a talented and brave young woman who had one goal in life: to get an education and encourage others to do the same. Born in Pakistan, Malala did not grow up with many resources, but she was lucky enough to have a father that shared the same goal as her. At the young age of fifteen, she was shot in the face by the Taliban for standing up for girls’ rights to an education. Although the recovery time was long and hard, the Taliban did not silence her as she continued her campaign. This eventually led her to opening her own school in Yemen and writing the novel I Am Malala. As someone who highly values education and bravery, her story made me interested in learning more about her culture, family, and experiences.
The book, I Am Malala, gave a powerful message about activism, family, women’s rights, but most importantly, the power of education. Malala Yousafzai had a very strong belief in education and would not stop at anything to guarantee that every child was able to go to school. Malala grew up believing that education was the key to success, but not everyone else believed that. Malala lived in a society where women were not treated as equals, and soon appeared laws prohibiting women’s right to attend school. Malala was extremely determined to continue her education, she even snuck to school, hid her books and abandoned her school uniform so she would not be noticed. Malala becomes vocal about education and gives her opinion in interviews for many news stations. Many people in her country feared to express their opinions, however, Malala wanted to be the change. Malala expressed her belief that “If people were silent, nothing would change.” (Yousafzai 140). Although Malala knew that it was dangerous to speak against the Taliban, she suggests her opinions in interviews to draw international attention to her cause. Malala dreamed of getting an education so she could become a politician and help her country. But when she was 10, the Taliban took control of her town, making it a law that girls were banned from
Activist, Malala Yousafzai in her book “I Am Malala,” delineates that the Taliban were going around depriving young women from their education and how she stands up and fights for children all over the world and herself to stay and go to school. She shows how she refused to be silenced and how this book can teach her readers that some good they do can change the world by using rhetorical strategies. Malala’s purpose is to exude the idea that education is a basic human right and that no one should be deprived from it. She adopts a sentimental tone in order to get to her audience. In her book she uses many emotional appeals, logical appeals, she uses credibility, and imagery. Malala stood up for what she believed in, she may
Malala’s story draws you in from an account of her birth. “ When I was born, people in our village commiserated with my mother and nobody congratulated my father” (Yousafzai & Lamb, 2013, p. 13). Malala’s life started out like any other in the Swat Valley, now part of Pakistan. Girls were not celebrated at birth like their male counterparts. However, Malala’s father was different. Zaiuddin Yousafzai not only celebrated his daughter’s birth, he saw that there was something unique about her from the very beginning. Malala and her father had a very special relationship. He, unlike many fathers in Pakistan, respected his daughter and contributed to Malala becoming educated and independent. Prior to Malala’s birth, Zaiuddin Yousafzai founded a school and as a teacher continued to be a voice for education in a country where education is not valued. He stood strong against the
In a country where females are considered lower class citizens with unequal opportunities and no rights compared to the males and where one governing force dictates everyone’s every move, an eleven year old girl initiated a stand that would not only change her and her family’s life forever, but would encourage others to stand up for what they believe in. Malala Yousafzai publicly defied the Taliban’s order by demanding that girls be able to go to school and receive an education. This brazen act prompted Malala to become an advocate for girl’s education with the support from her father and in doing so, caused her to become a disposable target for the Taliban. However, Malala didn't give up on voicing her opinion and she didn't back down from the selfish Taliban gang. Although Malala is an inspiring young advocate, her past experiences with education was not typical modern day culture in Pakistan.
Malala faced many challenges along her journey to success. A terrorist group called the Taliban started taking over Malala’s home village Swat, Pakistan. Malala and some friends were travelling home from school, and a masked gunman from the
Malala is a human rights advocate, and youngest Nobel Prize laureate. She fights for the “struggling to achieve their goals of education, peace and equality” (1, MS), and was persecuted for this. She was shot in the head by a member of the Taliban, believing that the “bullets would silence us”, however, out of the silence “came thousands of voices” (2, MS). cry out for the right to live in peace. Malala courage to speak out against malicious attacks, and attempt to create change, has inspired the world. Her courage educated others upon the lack of dignity and equal opportunity which occurs in Middle Eastern countries. Regardless, she does not promote violence, claiming “I do not even hate the Talib who shot me” and that she would not shoot him, “Even if there is a gun in my hand” (2, MS). She has the courage to stand up for what she believes in, even though she places herself at risk. So, she calls upon the world leaders to “change their strategic policies in favor of peace and prosperity” (3, MS), a daunting task, only possible with man others with as great of courage of Malala has.
Malala has made a great impact in the lives of many young girls all over the world. In the article, Malala the Powerful, it says “Malala stated that she felt her role was to “serve humanity.” This fall, she will publish a memoir. The Malala Fund, created in her name, is helping to send 40 girls in Pakistan to school." Malala stood up for what was right whenever it was her being targeted. She was also in the position that many girls in Pakistan are right now, or for most used to be. Malala believed that it was right that every girl had access to an education no matter what. In the article, Malala the Powerful, it states that Malala said "Even if they come to kill me, I will tell them what they are trying to do is wrong, that education is our
Malala Yousafzai is an advocate for standing up for women's rights because she believes all children deserve a good education. Malala is doing this because, when she was a young girl she was not able to go to school and she now wants to make a difference.
I believe Malala returned to school was because the only way for her to make a difference in the world was to get an education. She continued to go to school to influence other girls to get an education. Next, I’ll discuss how Malala’s returning to Swat showed us that we should love our home
Malala Yousafzai has been an inspiration to me since I was a freshman in high school. The day her story broke was the day I realized that as an American citizen, I had privilege. No one I knew at that time has ever had to risk their lives for an education, or worry about their families lives if they persisted and went to school. Her story sparked a flame inside me, and six years later, it has yet to be put out. Women's education is a topic I care greatly about, and it is mostly due to the bravery, perseverance, and compassion Malala has shown throughout the years. She began speaking up when she was only a young girl, with the help of BBC and the encouragement of her father. Not long after she raised her voice about the injustice she saw, the
The book I Am Malala How One Girl Stood Up for Education and Changed the World is about a girl who is a moderate Muslim and lived in Swat Valley, Pakistan. She got shot by the Taliban for standing up for education and women's rights. After, that she wrote a memoir, so everyone would know what happened to her and to raise awareness about women’s rights and education in Pakistan. In this book there are three major themes that are a big part of the book.
As times change, at society transforms its priorities, new types of leaders will be necessary. This new generation of leaders will have the ability to to continuously change themselves without changing their values and virtues Malala has been able to remain closely connected to her values and is very straight forward with her message. However, she has also been able to change her influence over her audience by always thinking of new ways to share the message. In November 2012, Malala, her father, and a group of supporters came together to form the Malala Fund in an effort to empower girls and amplify their voices. They have utilized many education resources and are continue to invest in schools across the world. The fund was created a three-pronged approach, focusing both on the global advocacy movement around girls education and funding specific projects planned by local organizations in six countries including Pakistan, Lebanon, Jordan, Sierra Leone, Nigeria, and Kenya (Leber, 2015). The Malala Fund is just one, of many ways, that Malala has shown her commitment to fighting for education for girls. Through the fame she has garnered as a result of her “news-worthy” experience, she has been able to speech all over the world to express her desire for equal education and to empower girls. She gave a powerful speech at the UN General Assembly that has continued to be referenced to in the news and people look to it for inspiration. That day was also Malala’s 16th birthday and
