Malala Yousafzai: The Best Women's Education Activist

When Malala began speaking she was only 11 and was only trying to speak her mind. The dangerous terrorist group has invaded her home city, and she had the courage to speak up against them expecting no fame. The Taliban enforce strict Islamic law and destroyed or shut down girls' schools preventing women from getting and education. The people living here lived in constant fear but Malala was one of the few brave enough to fight it. Malala chose to continue going to school and even helped lead a group of girls to furthur their education, which is very dangerous considering her circumstances. The radical group soon strikes back, attempting to assassinate a only 15 y/o activist. Malala survived a shot to the head, and dident let that stop her and dident let that stop her from advocating for womens education. After the accident, she didn’t suffer any major brain damage. In March 2013, she attended school in Birmingham. The shooting led to a lot of support for Malala. She used that as motivation to give a moving speech on her birthday, and release her first book, “I AM Malala: The Girl Who Stood Up For Education And Was Shot By The Taliban.” Malala is still considered a target to the Taliban today.

Malala Yousafzai deserves the Humanitarian award. This young girl stood up for womens right to get an education, opened a school and is a positive role model for teens all around the world. The Humanitarian Award is an award given to a person who improves the lives for others or fights social injustice with the hope for a better future. The individual does more an outstanding job to help others and improve the injustice (The Elie Wiesel Foundation for Humanity). There's no age , gender or race requirement, anyone who cares for everyone and tries to improve lives of others is eligible for the award.

Malala was rushed to a military hospital for medical treatment. She was later transferred to another Pakistani hospital, where she continued to receive care. It was here that she was given a 70% chance of survival. After her stay in Pakistani hospitals over the period of six days, Malala was flown to the Queen Elizabeth hospital in Birmingham, England.

She has received many peace awards, including the Nobel Peace Prize. The Taliban outlawed education in Pakistan, where she lived, for all females in 2009. She continued to attend classes and speak out on her BBC blog, the radio, and was even in a documentary about her life in the middle east and going to school as a girl despite the new law. In early October of 2012, when Malala was 15, she became the victim of an attempted murder by a Taliban gunman. She was shot in the head on the bus ride home from school. After her tragic personal experience, she became well known and used her newfound popularity to advocate for education in the middle east. While on the bus to school, she was asked for by name by a masked gunman and shot multiple times. Malala was moved to a hospital, but transported to a critical care unit in the United Kingdom, where they could better deal with military-type injuries. She was released in 2013 and stayed in the UK with her family, who moved to be with her.

Malala, at the early age of eleven, started standing up for her fellow female classmates rights regarding their education. She started collaborating with BBC, giving details regarding her life under the Taliban’s rule, and how they were robbing girls of their education. At the age of fifteen, she was shot by one of the Taliban members due to her rebel actions against the Taliban. She survived the harsh attack, and still lives today, standing up for educational rights everywhere.
