Martin Luther King Jr. is a well known and an inspiring man to all cultures of the world. King was and still is one of the most influential heroes. King 's views and believes helped African Americans through the 50 's and 60 's to the rights and liberties that was their right. King faced many obstacles on his journey, things like jail and even assassination attempts. Despite these obstacles, he became a successful leader during the Civil Rights Movement and after his death, by guiding African Americans in a non-violent and positive direction for the fight to secure rights and equality for blacks.

He finished high school as the student body president and valedictorian of his class (Biography.com Editors). He later went to college at Morehouse, an all-male, black college, where he studied law and medicine and got his Ph.D. when he was only twenty-five years old (Biography.com Editors). Being smart and going to college helped him become a minister and preach about his beliefs.

In “1955, King was asked to be a spokesman for the Montgomery Bus Boycott. This was a campaign to try to achieve integration of the city’s bus lines. The U.S. Supreme Court ruled that racial segregation in transportation was unconstitutional” (Dr. King 1). “In 1957, King was elected the president of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, an organization designed to provide new leadership for the civil rights movement” (Dr. King 1). After the March on Washington, Martin was able to get Congress to pass the Civil rights act, this made it so segregation was illegal. After 3 years of Theological study at Crozer Theological Seminary in Pennsylvania, he was elected president of a predominantly white senior class. He awarded leadership of the first negro in 1955. His bus boycott lasted for 382 days. On December 1956, After the Supreme Court of the United States declared unconstitutional the laws requiring segregation on buses, and now the road the bus at equals. During these days king was arrested multiple time for the bombing of his house, which also subjected to personal abuse. He engaged as a negro leader, at age 35 he was the youngest man to receive the “Nobel” prize, and on April 14, 1968, while standing on his balcony in Tennessee he was assassinated.

While Martin Luther King may have gone to jail a few times, Martin fought for the rights for African Americans.He was in marches and riots, received many awards and gave the famous speech “I have a Dream” at the Washington Memorial.

Peaceful protesting is one of the biggest positives that come from police brutality, and there are not many positives at all. Even though many feel this is not helpful it gives officers less of a reason to disturb your constitutional right. It is hard to practice this form of protesting with so much anger built up inside of you. People now worry if they are protected from racism, especially because of the recent commencement of President Trump. His position has led many Americans to worry about going backward to the civil war and genocide.
